“if there are no further questions, Manning out!” and the video comms link ended.

Once Admiral Manning had ended communications Jason started handing out the assignments. “Mirri, lay in a course for the Beloti system. Warp Factor Eight if we can handle it, otherwise Warp Factor Six. Kolar, find out if there are any Mintaka class planets in the Beloti system and if so what we can expect. the Sierra would try to land on an M class world if possible. Toro, look up any information on the Sierra, including a passenger list. See if anything stands out whether a passenger has any specific medical needs or if some one on that ship is considered valuable or has any red flags. Ensign Heywood, contact sickbay and let Doctor Doolittle know that he’s going to have to prepare for possibly a hundred casualties.

“Aye-aye sir,” replied the young ensign at the communications station.

Toro took her spot at one of the tactical stations and began looking up any intelligence that might be available on the Sierra.

Kolar looked at the screen for a moment the Harn. He pursed his lips as he looked back towards the screen. The orders implied that the Admiral knew and did not care that the Captain was gone and the Olinski could handle most threats, but it was absent its most experience and qualified officer. His mind was distracted almost enough for him to ignore that Mintaka was a planet in the belt of Orion in the Beta Quadrant. Although it was more likely he meant class M and was saying it a ‘fancy way.’ “I’ll execute a data search of the records.”

The Sierra was a Starfleet Transport ship. Their manifest for the trip showed that they were moving a group of civilians and two retired Starfleet Captains from a trade visit in the former Cardassian planet Vitar III. They were on their way back to Starbase 214 where a starship would bring them back to Earth.

GM

Toro did as asked “The Sierra is a Starfleet Transport ship. Their current mission is moving a group of civilians and two retired Star Fleet Captains from a trade visit to Vitar III, which is a former Cardassian Planet. They were enroute to Starbase 214.” She said as she continued looking for additional information on the planet and the Sierra as well as the passenger manifest to see if there was anything that stood out to her.

=^=Bridge to Engineering,=^= Jason called as he sat down and hit a button on his command chair. =^=Michael, we’ve been assigned a rescue mission. Get us up to the greatest sustainable warp speed you can. For all we know, time is of the essence.=^=

OOC: I kept waiting for the admiral to say “Manning out.” As the lower ranking officer, Jason can’t hang up the phone first!

Jason Harn, acting CO

OOC: Agreed. I came in too late to post :)

IC:

=/\=On it sir.=/\= after a moment, Michael’s voice came back. =/\=I can give you sustainable 7.2 but we have capacity for 12 hours at 9.5=/\=

-Lt Michael Gould, CE

“Mathematically speaking, the warp 9.5 even for 12 hours would cut 2 days of the trip as long as we could sustain the 7.2 afterwards.”

Kolar

Ch’zaolrirh remained at his post. The mention of mines piqued his curiosity - were they relics from the dominion war. He checked that the ship’s weapons systems and shields were fully operational as the ship prepared to warp. Hopefully the Sierra had cleared the system, mine sweeping was a tedious affair.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

According to the records, the mines were cleared without much data from the Cardassian side. They had none. There was special path that was safe through the minefield. The Cardassians had provided that but they had not provided the numbers or the kinds of mines they had used.

GM

“Miri, take us to the Beloti system, Warp 7.2,” Jason decided. “Inform me when we are twelve hours away at Warp 9.5 and we can check in with Mike and see how things are doing.” He pressed a button his chair. =^=Harn to Doctor Doolittle.=^=

Jason Harn, XO the definition of decisiveness

According to the calculations at the helm’s station, the XO’s decision would mean that they would be able to arrive at the Beloti system in 29 hours.

GM

Mirri nodded at the orders “Course laid in. We’ll arrive in the Beloti system in 29 hours.” She said as she moved the large ship and engaged the warp drive “Warp 7.2.” She said as she manuvered the ship through the silence of space.

Helm (corrected the speed)

=^=Doolittle Here go ahead.=^= The Psychologist answered.

OOC: Not sure how you want to play it. Doolittle is the aCMO right now or you want to thrust it upon him. Your call.

Doolittle

=^=Doc? Harn, here. We’re on a rescue mission and twenty-nine hours away from a Starfleet transport that went missing in the Beloti system. Work with the counselor to find quarters for the passengers and crew in case we can’t get their ship working again. Oh yes, and prepare sickbay for a lot of patients in case they had a rough landing. The Sierra had seventy six passengers and might have at least half of that more as crew. Check with the official registry to get the total number we’re dealing with.=^=

Kolar watched the actions of the officers. Twenty nine hours was long time… the could be patient and collect all the information necessary. “Who are these retired captains?” He asked aloud as he also accessed the records. “Isn’t it odd that they were on the transport?”

Kolar

“Just because they are retired doesn’t mean they don’t like to travel,” Jason shrugged. “Still, it might be interesting to see if any of them had access to sensitive information that is still relevant,” he shrugged again. “You never know.” He turned and looked at the viewscreen. The view outside revealed stars that extended into silvery white lines. They were heading into the unknown on a rescue mission and this time Jason was in charge. Sidney was gone. The responsibility for success or failure was his. Whether or not Jason was ever promoted above the rank he held now could hinge on how he performed tomorrow. After making a mental note to research information about the kinds of mines the Cardassians used during the Dominion War, Jason took a breath and let the future come to him when it was ready.

OOC: Is this a good time to end the scene?

Jason Harn, acting CO
