“What’s up?” Trevor asked as they entered the Ready Room. The Counselor wasn’t too certain what was on Harn’s mind at the moment, but it could have had something to do with his mentioning of medics.

Jason nodded to Toro and let the door to the ready room slide shut, allowing the two some privacy. “What’s your assessment of Doctor Doolittle?” Jason asked warily.

Jason Harn, aCO

“It was a little odd for him to volunteer for a mission like this.” The Counselor stated once he had a second to think. Trevor hadn’t spoken to the Doctor much throughout his time on the ship, since it wasn’t standard for one Counselor to evaluate another.

“Plus, my medical experience is more superior than his...... so him volunteering himself could be more personal.” Lieutenant Michaels added.

“That’s just it, Trevor, I volunteered HIM,” Jason sighed. “The way he was hanging around the bridge I thought that he was itching to be part of the action, but when I volunteered him I thought I caught a glimpse of real fear in his eye. Maybe it’s my imagination, but I wonder if I pushed him into something he wasn’t ready for too soon. Did I make the right decision?”

Jason Harn, aCO, second guessing himself

“As if him hanging around wasn’t an indication that he was volunteering himself?” The Counselor ask countering the aCO’s statement. “No one from Starfleet is going to set foot on a starship unless they’re ready for any assignment, Commander.” Trevor added. He wasn’t certain why Harn was having second guesses about an experienced officer, but the Lieutenant knew Doolittle was aware of what he was getting himself into.

“Yeah, you got a point,” Jason nodded in graceful surrender. “A ship in the harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are for.” Jason pursed his lips before glancing over at Trevor. He probably should have assigned Trevor to away team duty instead of Doolittle, but it was too late now.

“There’s sometimes no such thing as a right decision.” The Counselor said as he shrugged his shoulders. “That’s just the beauty of it all.”

“You’re right, hopefully, it will be a milk run,” Jason nodded with a bit more spirit this time. “In the meantime, as they say, hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Now if you excuse me it’s time for me to go to the CIC so Ric and I can plan for the worst,” he announced as he headed back to the door.

Jason Harn, aCO, ending the scene too soon?

“I’ll remain on the Bridge if you need me.” The Counselor said as he followed the aCO back onto the Bridge. Trevor was probably going to have to speak with Doolittle when he comes back to the ship but for now, the Lieutenant would have to watch the mission unfold from his seat.
