Doolittle waited for his guide to take him to the Sick Bay.

Doolittle

He was brought to a sickbay that was about half the size of that found in the Olinski. There were two crew members there and about three civilians.

“Yes,” the more senior medic asked, “is there I can do for you?”

GM

‘Dr. Doolittle from the USS Olinski. We are here to render assistance if needed.” Doolittle said with as much officialness he had.

He looked over at the COS. Again here was a ship that had made an emergency landing on a planet, not an every day kind of thing to happen, and they seemed almost too at ease. Doolittle’s training something was not right here even if everything seemed just fine.

Doolittle MD

“Welcome on board Doctor,” the medic in blue answered, “I am Dr. Moore, Joseph Moore. We did not have a bad landing and so there were no injuries then. However, when the storm struck, the psychological impact was more significant. Mrs. Kingston in bed 4 had to be sedated because it was her first trip out of her colony and she had never experienced a storm like we had. Weather control and all that …” Moore said sympathetically.

“If you would like to help out Mrs Pitch and her son. She is extremely worried about the psychological impact the storm had on her son. He is only six months old,” Moore pointed out a rather young woman sitting with an infant in her arms.

GM

“Of course Dr.” Doolittle said and moved toward the mom and small child.

Doolittle knew that there was no psychological impact on a 6 month old baby. One they could not form permanent memories. Another is that even if they could in this stage of development they were concentrated on food and very basic things. Even if the event had scared the child it would not be remembered and they would return to their normal primary needs state with no issues. Maybe the Dr was offering him a hint the mother had been the one traumatized.

“Mrs Pitch I am Dr. Doolittle of the USS Brian Olinski. As you might have heard we are here to assist you. Is there anything I can do at the moment for you personally?” He asked in a low, neutral but caring voice.

Doolittle

“I am all right,” claimed Mrs. Pitch. “It’s my son, Jack. He’s been silence all this time. Everyone has been frightened but he had not cried or anything. He must be scared stiff, don’t you think?” Doolittle would be able to see the infant sleeping soundly in his mother’s arms.

GM

The Andorian had kept himself in the background until now. He wanted to question the remaining patient, but he knew how protective doctors were. With no one else to question, he decided to cut to the chase.

“There must be something we can offer the passengers. Dr. Moore, perhaps your passengers could use a little more leg room. We have made some accommodations aboard the Olinski if they would like a change a scenery until the ship is up and running again?”

He glanced over at Mrs. Pitch, “At least they wouldn’t have to worry about anymore storms.”

COS Ch’zaolrih

Mrs Pitch looked hopefully at the doctor.

GM

“Have the medical staff looked into any medical reason for his not crying? Also I assume this is a change? He usually cries?” Doolittle asked.

Maybe he was not using the usual Dr/Patient question method but it would end up getting the same results.

Doolittle

That question left the mother looking rather flustered. “He doesn’t usually cry,” she tried to explain, “but when there is such a terrible occurrence like a storm, shouldn’t a baby be frightened enough to cry? He did not!”

GM

OOC: Just bumping for my request to the ship’s doctor. COS - Ch’zaolrirh

OOC: Sorry for missing it …

IC: Dr. Moore was observing the exchange between Doolittle and Mrs Pitch. Then, he realised the COS was speaking to him. “What was it?” he asked but almost immediately continued, “O yes. If the passengers wanted to move, I won’t stop them. We will need to make the proper transfer logs and they could get to your bigger ship if they wanted to. Mrs. Pitch looks like she would want to. We have more passengers in their quarters. Would you like to go around to ask them?”

Doolittle decided it was best to eliminate the medical side first. So he took out his tricorder.

“May I?”He asked as he extended the device to check on the infant. He also set another setting to check on the mother at the same time.

He awaited the results to appear.

Doolittle

The infant was actually quite well according to the tricorder. The mother, Mrs. Pitch, on the other hand, was stressed and anxious. Her stress hormones were at an elevated level.

GM

“Mrs Pitch we can transfer to the Olinski. Have the baby monitored and give you a break as well.”Doolittle said. He wanted to get Mrs Pitch in another environment and calmed down. Once she saw the baby in a safe environment she might calm down and if not he could always sedate her.

Ch’zaolrirh nodded. Looking over at Doolittle, he saw the doctor knee deep in his profession. Stepping out of earshot of those in sickbay, he ran the decision by Kolar:

=^= Mr. Kolar, some of the passengers are a little jittery. I’m recommending that we allow them to beam aboard the Olinski until repairs are done. There is a hanger bay cleared and ready for them if they’d like to stretch their legs. Also, I believe their are a few former Captains aboard. I’m sure they wouldn’t turn down a tour of the flagship. =^=

Ch’zaolrirh awaited an answer. He hoped the CSO would agree. Afterall, if something strange was happening, the passengers might feel less restrained in speaking about once they were off the transport.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

Doolittle MD

=^=Do we need security protocols for these passengers? Being on a transport isn’t the same level of clearance as being on the Flagship of the Fleet..=^=

Kolar

The COS responded =^= They would be restricted to the designated hanger bay unless escorted. We can beam down a couple of officers to quickly verify each batch of passengers before transport. I’m estimating it will take about two hours to process them, assuming all of their records are in order. =^=

COS Ch’zaolrirh

Doolittle waited for the reaction and answer from Mrs. Pitch. This for him was important psycholgically and perhaps for the seemingly routine near crash landing of this ship.

Doolittle

“Would I have … I mean, my baby, be out of here to have the treatment he needs? When can I get out?” her voice sounding more anxious to move than elated.

GM

Ch’zaolrirh stood by. There was no response from Kolar yet.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

“My Dear. You can both go. Lt. can we beam both of them from the ship to our Sick Bay?” Doolittle said looking over to the COS.

He had the idea that maybe the woman would be more open and forthcoming about what was happening here if she was away from the planet and the ship.
