“I don’t want to give her too long, Apex, but I don’t want her going in there for nothing. Let’s give a little bit morre,” the CAG stated.

Opening a channel to the ship, Ric repported what was going on.

=^=Olinski, this is Ricochet. we were able to pick up a garbled, partial message from the surface. It seemed to be a direct response to Apex’s hail. Little Sehlat is going in closer to the storn in an effort to pick up a clearer message. If the Sierra did go down, it’s a pretty good chance we have survivors.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

=^=Acknowledged Richochet,=^= Jason’s voice replied. =^=We’re sending a shuttle down to investigate. Report to the CIC to work on a contingency plan in case the shuttle needs rescuing too. Unless you think you can do it from your cockpit,=^= he added wryly.

Jason Harn, aCO

OOC: How low have the pilots gone down near the planet?

GM

OOC: Sehlat is in the storm, Ricochet and Apex are, I would guess, above the atmosphere, but relatively close. In case of need for intervention.

-Sam

=^=Roger that, Harn. I’ll be home before the food’s on the table,=^= replied the CAG.

=^=Thanks Ric. Meet you in the CIC. Olinski out, =^= Jason replied.

Ric looked through the window to his right and gave Apex a thumb’s up. =^=You heard the X, Apex. You stay our here and keep in contact with Sehlat. Not sure how the storm is going to affect her comms, but inform CIC ASAP if there’s any problems. Also call down another bird from your squad to ride your wing, copy?=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

=/\=Ricochet, I have to go down there. No bird should be alone in that mess.=/\=

Sehlat was barely able to make out, visually, the shape of the Sierra. However the sensors were not able to give a confirmation of the identity of the ship due to the kelbonite particles moving in the storm. The shields were effective in preventing stray sand and other particles coming out of the storm from damaging the engines. The region above the storm was not calm and the winds were stressing her fighter’s engines as the computer kept the fighter relatively still. Comms contained a lot of static as well but she could try to contact the Sierra. Perhaps the distance could improve the comms …

GM

=/\=Sehlat, can you hear me?=/\= Ael called.

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)

Sehlat was able to make out Ael’s communication mixed with static.

GM

Jason Harn aCO

=^= Ap..resend las… I see.... ship I think… to tell…get id… =^= Xandra frowned wondering if her message up was as garbled as the message down.

She sent hey next message down to the shop, hoping it was the Sierra. =^= This is Sehlat, pilot for the Olinski. I see you near the storm. Identify yourself. Do you need assistance?=^= She repeated it twice and waited for a response as she tried to maintain her altitude without going to deep into the storm.

Xandra
Pilot

=/\=Ric, I have to go down there.=/\= He dove and took his cutlass into the storm. =/\=Sehlat, I’m coming in on your position.=/\= If I can find you in this gust. he flashed a code with his forward lights. Signal if you can see me. He dropped to hovering just above the ground. He kept flashing the signal while scanning the air above him for the Sierra.

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)

=^=Roger, Apex. Keep yourself safe. With the Size and speed of the storm, you should be able to see whatever it was that sent the signal from the surface.=^=

Ricchet (CAG)

The two fighters were able to see each other and were in time to see a shuttle from the Olinski land in the storm. The visibility was too bad for them to see the away team moving in the storm towards the Sierra.

Ric was able to see that the storm would be moving away and that the end of the storm was in sight, in some minutes …

GM

=/\=Sierra, do you copy, this is Apex. Olinski Red fighter squad leader calling. Please respond.=/\=

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)

=/\=This is the Sierra, Captain Graham Whitney speaking. We can vaguely see some people heading towards us. Are you one of them?=/\=

GM

=/\=No sir, I am not. I am currently in a cutlass class fighter. Olinski might have sent down a rescue crew. What’s your 20? Will the Sierra fly?=/\=

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)

=/\=Not immediately. Our engines are clogged with the sand particles from the storm. We need to clear the sand before making an assessment.=/\=

As the message came through, it was very apparent that the storm had passed because the reception was now very clear.

GM

=/\=Copy that. You have no thruster functionality, no way to break atmosphere?=/\=

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)

=/\=Our engines seem functional but the sand in the storm has gotten into parts of the exhaust and we need to clear it before we take off,=/\= said the woman at the other end. =/\=Your crewmates have made it to our ship. I believe a doctor is among them. It would be good to let him take a look at them as well.=/\=

GM

=/\=Understood. I’ll relay all this information back to the Olinski, we’ll see what we can do to get you up and moving.=/\= Ael reset comms to speak to Xandra. =/\=Sehlat, you lifting out with me? Something isn’t right here. They say there’s sand trapped in the exhaust ports. That happens. Vent the exhaust ports. Unless the buildup is so huge it’s unmovable, it should be shakeable.=/\=

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)

Xandra had been listening and her own frown colored get comms back to Apex. =^= I agree. I don’t like it. Buy wet can’t leave them alone. I’m one ridge over and just out of sight. I don’t think they saw me. I’m gonna stay close. =^= Then she had an idea, =^=Apex, follow my lead. When I say, go ahead and ascend. Make sure they see you. I’ll play bug out, but I’m staying. Relay back to Ric what’s up. I’ll keep comms open so he hears it all. =^=

Switching channels, she hauled the Sierra. =^= Copy Sierra, we’ll let Olinski know you need a min. Apex, come on back up and rendezvous with me above this location. We’ll head back and prep for their return. Sierra, let us know if you need additional help. Sehlat out. =^=

Back on the private channel, she hailed Apex. =^= Dad’s gonna be mad, but tell him I pulled rank. It’ll save you from a tanned hide. =^= she laughed a bit. Ric hated when she said ‘yes dad’s when he barked orders in the sims. But hopefully he’d understand the rise and not take it out on the other pilot too badly.

Xander
Pilot

She technically didn’t have rank to pull anymore. But it was a good plan. =Copy Sehlat, awaiting signal.=/\=

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader

On the private channel, she confirmed the go. =^=Go ahead and heads back up. So long as they see you, it’s all good.=^=

Xandra bit her lip. Hopefully the ground would see Apex depart and think they were alone. She kept her comms open, hoping to catch ground chatter.

Xandra
Pilot/Sehlat
((Her suggestion to head back to the ship was on open comm.... that was the signal to head up so the ground thought they would be alone. She begins the next ridge to keep an eye on them… up to you if he actually goes back or just relays privately to Ric what’s happening and swings around and joins her)))
