=^=Roger that, skipper. I’m transmitting the approximate size of the dead zone where Green Leader and the Dragoon are caught. You should be able to approach within 5000 meters. The rest of the fighters are trying to get a closer look at where the microwaves are coming from. Once you’re in range, we’ll transmit that info to you to get a better shot off. Copy?=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

=^=Ricochet, I’m having trouble getting a lock on Shelat, I will have to move closer to the area and enhance the beam.=^=

Helm

Ric cursed under his breath. He wanted desperately to tell Mirri to go ahead to get Xandra out of there. Against his personal wishes to do what needed to be done, he issued an order. =^=No closer than 5000 meters, Mirri. If you can’t lock on to her by then, pull back. I don’t need you and the runabout getting caught in there as well. We’ll just have to figure something else out.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

Her eyes were open… or at least she thought they were. She could hear voices but they were all muffled as if thru a wall, or in a dream. She had been doing… something. Opening her mouth to call for Ric, she felt heavy, like being drugged. Perhaps this was just another nightmare. Her heart began to race with panic. Screaming always woke her in her dreams, but she couldn’t scream. She felt a tear fall down her cheek but there was nothing she could do.

The planet came closer and closer. Her hands and feet tried to move, to snap her from the lethargic, nearly paralyzed state she felt herself in. And the humming....

It had to be a dream… maybe Ric would sense her nightmare and wake her from it. She just had to ride this out till she woke up.

Lt Xandra Primage
Pilot

She noticed an explosion behind her through a reflection and then she found that her hands and feet were under her control now. Furthermore, the hum seemed to have gone.
- GM

From the edge of the wave, in their spiral, Ael felt the hum dissipate. =/\=Hum is gone for me. Repeat, hum is gone! I think the torpedo did its job. Sehlat, if you can hear this, we’re gonna bring you home.=/\= Ael felt almost as much relief as he had when he had lost the Tal’Shiar to escape to the Federation. Squad leader wasn’t going to be lost today.

-Lt.(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

One minute the ground was approaching, the next, she was jolted as if waking from one of the nightmares. She suddenly pointed her nose to the sky and came up at a near vertical climb. Tears filled her eyes despite fighting them back with a growl. What had happened? Hearing Apex almost made her laugh. But the edge of hysteria in the sound made her swiftly bite it back. =^=Apex, Sehlat… I hear you. I’m under my own power. Heading back to the ship. Ric, I’m heading back. I don’t know what happened, but I’m no use to you right now. I’m sorry. Apex, protect that shuttle!=^= The edge on her voice was unmistakable. She wouldn’t allow any argument. =^=And everyone stay away from the planet… something… happened. I don’t know what…=^= Her voice trailed off leaving the statement unfinished.

While the explosion had broken whatever spell she had been under, the great noise and reaction from it weren’t a memory she had. One minute she wasn’t in control, the next, she was. That’s all she knew.

Lt JG Xandra Primage
Pilot

=/\=Right Green Leader. Moving to defensive position with the shuttle.=/\= Apex rolled over to the shuttle’s starboard side. =/\=We’ve got this Sehlat. Go home.=/\=

-Lt.(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

Ric breathed a huge sigh of relief as her heard Xandra’s voice once again. She would be able to hear the relief in his voice. =^=Apex, is right, Sehlat. Get back to Mother, rhen straight to sickbay. Get checked out0. I want a green light from the docs before you climb back into your bird.=^=

Ricochet (CAG)

After giving Sehlat her orders, he contacted the ship.

=Olinski, this is Ricochet. Green Leader has been released and is back under her own control. She’s on her way back back to the ship. I want medical to meet her in the hangar bay and check her out. Our sensors are picking up a lot more activity now coming from the surface. Numerous life signs, buildings, and technology.. . .We’re going into the atmosphere to get a closer look. Somebody was working real hard to camouflage themselves from prying eyes.=^=

=Apex, Papa Bear, on me. Let’s take a closer look at the surface. Keep weapons armed, shields up, and stay sharp.=^=

+Da, Comrade Ricochet,=^= came the reply from Papa Bear.

=/\=Copy Ricochet.=/\= Ael signaled.

After hearing Apex’ confirmation Ric angled his fighter toward the surface and increased speed. If the inhabitants did have some kind of shield to hide themselves, he wanted to get underneath it before it was reactivated.

Ricochet (CAG)

Xandra growled under her breath. She had been about to turn and head back to the group, chiding herself for playing the wounded animal. But when Ric’s orders came up for medical to meet her in the hanger, common sense kicked in. She would be no use to them if she had been compromised. A softly whispered, “Yes, Sir,” fell from her lips though it wouldn’t have registered in the comms.

=^=Hanger, this is Green Leader, request assist on reenter.=^= She sighed knowing Ric would hear this because of the channel, though thankfully no one else would. =^= I’m a little shaky and don’t wanna chip the paint on the way in.=^=

The hanger acknowledged and a moment later, automatic tracking had locked onto her ship and she let go to keep from fighting it. Several moment later she was settled and crewmen were swarming to help her get out and medical was standing by as well. Slipping off her helmet and crawling out of the fighter, she succumbed to the pokes and prods and questions by medical. Thinking of going back out to help Ric and the others, she smiled and nodded. “The high pierce whine knocked me out was all. A headache, but I’m fine. I need to get back out there. Just give me another fighter.” She waved off a gurney offer as well as a suggestion to go to medical.

Lt JG Primage
Pilot

Ael followed Ricochet’s lead down towards the planet. He noticed how much speed they were picking up. He figured out then that Ric was trying to get in before they could get whatever was shielding them back online. They’d have to pull up last second, fighting the planet’s gravity. This was what pilots trained for. And it was going to be good.

-Lt.(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

From the air the planet surface showed life that was almost what could be described as similar to 13th century Earth. Whilst coal was available, the main source of fuel seemed to be firewood. The people were organised into small villages.

What was really interesting was that under the ground there was a network of metal equipment. At the moment there was a lot of activity underground. Movement was detected in the mountains where the transmitters of the microwaves were found. Then the fighter’s sensors detected a very weak signal activated. It was a Starfleet commbadge signal. The pilot was able to pinpoint the location of the signal.

GM

=/\=I’ve got a signal. A combadge. One of ours. Someone from the Dragoon?=/\= Ael called as he flew over the planet.

-Lt.(j.g.) Ael Khev, Apex

=^=Copy that, Apex. I’ve got it too. Contact Mother and tell them what we’ve got. Send visuals as well. I’m going to try to contact that signal.=^=

Ael set his comms to transmit to the Olinski. =/\=Olinski, this is Apex. We have a Starfleet combadge on the planet. Ricochet is trying to contact it. I’m transmitting everything I have on it now.=/\=

Ric switched frequencies and opened the channel. =^=To the person activating the Starfleet comm badge, this is Cmdr. Richard O’Shea of the Federation Starship USS Brian A Olinski. Do you copy?=^=

As he waited for a reply, Ric continued scanning the underground complex trying to pinpoint a means of egress.
