The face of a captain in maroon uniform appeared on the screen.

Jason chose that moment to enter the bridge. He paused as he noticed the face of the Starfleet Captain on the viewscreen.

=/\=I am Captain William Windebank from Starfleet Intelligence. Why did you make such an inquiry?=/\= asked the man.

OOC: Just to be clear the request for information is not the same as the info we received? Should I be waiting on a message to the Ready Room or is Kolar sending this to me?

Sidney

OOC: The message was for the commander. Kolar didn’t know he was off the bridge.

OOC: The HQ is making inquiries after it was discovered that someone from the ship had been making inquiries into Vinna Lang. In https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/olinski/posts/96284/ aCO asked CIO to look up information. This was how HQ has come to know.

GM

Helm

Kolar squinted at the man pausing as he thought. =^=Good afternoon, Captain. The inquiry was sent from this ship and as Chief of Science I am responsible for it. However I’m am not in command here so any questions about the actions of the ship should be directed to her Captain. I’m sure you understand.=^= Kolar might not know what was going on, and he wasn’t about to hazard the ship by giving too much information.

=^=Actually it was I who made that request Captain, =^= Jason announced as he walked away from the doors to the ready room and made his way to Kolar’s side. =^=We have a passenger calling herself Mrs. Pitch who has an infant that I’m not entirely convinced is hers. She somehow managed to take control of some of our people using some kind of telepathic amplification device and is acting like a fugitive. On top of that, she’s a Betazoid so she knows exactly what to say to sound believable, but just about everything she’s said has been a lie. I want to know who she is, if that baby is hers, and if there are any warrants out on her.=^=

Jason Harn, aCO who missed the part about Pitch’s real name

=/\=Vinna Lang, or Mrs. Pitch, as you call her, is being sought for because we need to understand how her husband died. Dr. Philip Lang died in when his laboratory blew up. We arrived at his home after we detected an explosion. We found his remains but no trace or his wife or newly born child. We need to speak to Mrs. Lang to understand what happened.=/\= said Captain Windebank.

GM

Mirri listened to what was being said and thought to herself ~well that’s convienant.~ What she wanted to say out loud was “What did Mrs. Lang gain by her husband’s death and why was she so protective of this rod that everyone was talking about. She maintained her station and waited to see how this played out.

Helm

It was during this conversation that Toro walked back onto the bridge after securing the shuttle that Mrs. Pitch/Lang had been attempting to steal. She went to her station and stood there and listened to the conversation that was going on with Intelligence. Toro recognized Windebank and simply gave him a nod before looking over the information that was on her console.

CIO

“I THOUGHT she was acting like a fugitive,” Jason smirked grimly, “but I had no idea that child was really hers. That’s a shock. She said something about her baby having amazing psychic powers and tried to blame what happened aboard this ship on the child. Was Doctor Lang a scientist?”

Jason Harn, aCO for now, desperately trying to be proven right

“I’ll alert Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.” Kolar looked over at the aCO.

OOC: Aha! Someone noticed! :) Trying to keep up with minor characters’ names are not easy … ;)

IC:

=/\=Yes.=/\= replied Windebank. =/\=Being of a Napaen, he had wanted to see if their natural empathic abilities could be boosted. It was not a secret in academia. All the notes and results of his experiments were destroyed in the explosion.=/\=

GM

Jason blinked in surprise. =^=That fits her story. I wonder what, or who, caused the ‘accident’. I guess we’ll have to wait until the investigation is over to find out if Vina Lang caused the explosion to stop her husband or if somehow the baby caused it. Or if Doctor Lang was just careless. In the meantime we’ll head to the nearest starbase and turn Lang and her infant over to the proper authorities and let them handle it. My CO is waiting there anxious to get back his ship,=^= he finished with quiet grin.

Jason Harn aCO giving Windebank a chance to continue or to sign off

=/\=Very well,=/\= replied Captain Windebank. =/\=There will be a team of Starfleet Intel officers waiting to receive her.=/\=

GM

=^=Thanks for calling, Captain Windebank,=^= Jason nodded. =^=We’ll contact you when we reach Starbase 257. Olinski out.=^= He left Kolar’s side to make his way to the CO’s chair. “Makes you think doesn’t it?” he commented casually, although it was vague just who he was commenting to as he sat in the chair.

“Literally, everything makes you think.”

OOC: Here is our chance to illustrate the philosophical point of the episode at the conclusion. I know it’s normally the CO who makes the philosophical comment but if anybody else has one to make go right ahead! (Or at least hand Jason his cue so he can come up with one of his own.)

Jason Harn, aCO

“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Kolar

OOC: LOL!!

GM

Jason was surprised to hear the “who watches the watchers” phrase, that wasn’t what he took away from this at all. It indicated that Kolar may have sympathized with Pitch, or Lang, whatever her name was. “I was about to say something about a mama bear and her cub, but I think I’ll skip it,” he muttered as he sat to keep Sidney’s command chair warm one last time. “Set course to Starbase 257. Warp six. Engage,” he called out to Mirri.

Jason Harn, aCO who had a different take on this story

“Bears protect their cubs because they need to, the presumption they do not is a level of trust in those in power that the Federation has the luxury to have. Those of us who didn’t grow up under the umbrella of safety that the Federation is known to offer are less optimistic of the intentions of others.”

Kolar - not missing an opportunity of character development

OOC: I am going to let you guys RP the arrival at the SB before I join in again. Also any ideas on a ship wide side sim? Team building exercise. Paint ball in the holodeck. DH’s vs CO, XO, CAG , CNS vs CSO, CoS, CE, CMO. Toro, Apex, Mirri and Alexandra can pick teams? Just an idea.

Sidney
