As Ric’s voice rose, she grabbed his arm. Fear lit her own eyes, but for a different reason. “Ric, stop! It’s just a baby.” She sat back up on the bed to try and get a better look. Her features softening automatically at the small child cooing at her. “They aren’t hurting you,” she said to try and reassure the small infant. “It’s ok…”

Oddly enough, despite her trying to calm the crying baby, the hand she had on Ric’s arm was shaking. Slowly she turned to him and the soft lines of her face slowly melted away into questioning realization. “That’s the thing that’s controlling people? I don’t understand… how? It’s just a baby…” She was remembering Ric saying the baby had made her do… something. And her mind fought to try and remember, even as her eyes went to his neck.

She saw a probe that would produce a Hyperencephalogram lying next to the baby. The doctor was probably trying to use it on the baby. That was why the baby was irritated.

GM

He squeezed her hand reassuringly. ‘It’s not going to control you again, Xan. I’m not going to let it!!!”

He stepped cautiously forward. “Doc, whatever you do, DON’T let the kid touch you!”

Ricochet (CAG)

Xandra shook her head like she didn’t believe him. “That can’t be the reason. There had to be something else. It’s just a baby. Here. Bring the child here. I’ll hold him while you do the tests. It’s just scared.” She tried to sit up once more so she could better support the child. “You guys are getting worked up about nothing. It was most likely the mother. The child isn’t old enough to be that kind of harmful.” The crying was tugging on her heart and she wanted it to feel safe and secure.

((SOOOOO not having kids after this lol))

As she carried the child, he nestled his head in the small depression at her shoulder and made a purring sound. He seemed so contented. Then Xandra felt washed with a very serene and calm feeling. She felt trusted and valued.

GM

Ric raised his voice and tried to stop the child being placed in her arms. “NO!! Don’t let it. . . . . “

=^=Michaels to Sickbay, I’m down here in the Brig with Lang and she’s requesting to see her baby.=^= The Counselor said. =^=We might be able to gain some ground if we allow the child to be brought down here.=^=

CNS

Schweitzer looked up from his files and noticed he was being paged for a medical emergency. He set the files aside and replied back. “Schweitzer here. Please state the nature and location of the medical emergency.” He waited for a reply.

Lt. (j. g.) Albert Schweitzer (CMO)

OOC: Pasting the replies from the thread that was missed above …

IC: The doctor who had been initially examine the baby said, =/\=Doctor, sir, it is not exactly an emergency … There is a baby here that was separated from his mother. He … well … His mother is in the brig and the counsellor wants us to bring the baby down … I am not authorised to give permission.=/\=

GM

OOC: Pasting in mine as well. D’oh!!

“Yeah, get that demon spawn out of here,” Ric began. He then turned to look at Xandra and couldn’t believe the look on her face. It had been awhile since he had seen her so relaxed. The last time she had touched the child, the baby had made her try to choke the life out of Ric. He raised a hand to his throat and rubbed the bruised spots. “What the he–!!”

Ricochet (CAG)

“All this fuss over something so tiny,” Xandra whispered at the child as she leaned back and relaxed. She felt so good holding the child that it was actually a physical affect she was aware of. “That’s all you wanted, wasn’t it? Just someone to hold you.” Completely unaware of Ric’s motion on his neck, she was all consumed by the child. “Sssshhhh… that’s it, precious. No one is gonna hurt you.” She absently started humming and stroking the baby’s back as she closed her eyes and rocked slightly on the bed.

(our kids?… lol)

Schweitzer did his best to maintain an even tone.

“Commander, I must ask you not to insult mother or child. They are both my patients!”

Lt. (j. g.) Albert Schweitzer (CMO)

“Insult?!?! Are you kidding me, doc? I don’t care if that mother and child are the president and vice-president of the Federation!! They were controlling our crew, the controlled Xandra, made her—“

=^=Commander?=^= Lieutenant Michaels asked, trying to get a response from the CAG.

CNS

OOC: Pasting posts that ties in to this thread. CMO: the Counsellor is trying to get you to bring the child to the brig to see the mother. Please respond to the request.

GM

Ric took Michaels by the elbow and motioned for Schweitzer to join them. Moving a short distance away and speaking in hushed tones, the CAG explained what happened when he and Xandra attempted to speak with the mother and how they had forced Xandra to choke Ric. . . “That’s why I don’t want that kid around her. What if he chages his mind or Mrs. Pitch changes her mind. We’re right back at square one and Xandra’s been through enough mind control situations recently to last a lifetime!!”

Ricochet (CAG)

Schweitzer consider the Commander’s statement carefully. “That May be true, Commander. However, the child needs to see the mother. What can I do to help facilitate that?”

Lt. (j. g.) Albert Schweitzer (CMO)

At a pause in their conversation, they would hear Xandra singing to the child. She had laid back down and now had the child cradled in her arms as she closed her eyes and relaxed to the soft hum of her own voice and the even breathing of the baby.

Schweitzer ran lab tests on both mother and child, which came back normal. He did his best to keep both comfortable. He also wondered why there was so much tumult surrounding them. He did his best to keep the concern off of his face and out his mind and focused on the task at hand.
