Sid entered quickly and assumed his seat at the end of the table. He waited for the rest to do the same. No need for pretenses here. They were all there to get to work.

Vega was both excited and nervous, she hadn’t been apart of any large meeting yet but recent events clearly meant it was time to put everyone heads together, she entered the Conference room and took an empty seat acknowledging the captain as she did.

“We should be sure our power systems are secure against whatever modifications they did to their draining weapon. I don’t want to get Chin’tocka-ed, once was more than enough.” There was no reference to Kolar being at the Battle of Chin’tocka and if he had he would have been very young.

“If that’s the case, we might want to have the civilians sheltered in place until we can get the full picture.” The Counselor added. “But, we haven’t had any issues with the Breen recently so who knows how they’re involved.”

“The absence of us knowing there are issues with the Breen does not mean there are no issues with the Breen.” Kolar responded flatly. “There was no warning before the Breen aligned themselves with the Dominion and aside from significant damage to their fleet, the Breen economic base was virtually unaffected by the war, unlike ours. The only evidence that might belie an hostile act is that the event is isolated.”

“Engineering is looking at having a secondary, externally sighted power source. Were hoping that if our primary power is drained we can switch to this system, it’ll be kept off until needed so they won’t even know we have it until it’s on and hopefully to late for them to do anything about, though there will be a slight delay in power as we swap.” She hoped this put some measure of relief to the Captain and others.

“Good ideas. Keep in mind lets also think on the the philosophy of never get punched, grabbed, kicked or taken to the ground. How can we avoid the hit from the beginning so we can have everything available to bring to bear if needed instead of operating on back ups. Not that this contingency is not needed. I would rather have both arms to fight with than one tied behind the back.” The Captain offered. He believed that a good offense is a better defense.

“We should be ready for casualties if the fight is happening when we arrive.” Sid added. ” Be that with the Breen or an unexpectant foe. Hopefully it will not be the case. The fighter wing could be an advantage. The Breen might not see that coming.”

Sid did not want to say it was 100% the Breen but he had tangled with them before and he had no love lost for them. He would place a good bet it was them and be happy to lose it.

Ric spoke up after nodding to Sidney’s suggestion. “We launch the wing as soon as we drop out of warp. That should give us a significant advantage. We can also provide air support to anything that’s happening on the dirt.”

Sid noted all his officers inputs.

“Ric though if we launch and do not know the situation then we could flare a situation up that has calmed down. Maybe even put the fighters in danger. I am o0t against launching them on arrival but should we assess first and maybe lose an initiative or risk it and gain one?” He asked the wing Commander.

Parker CO

“We might be able to protect the Olinski and not the fighters,” He looked at the CAG. “If they lose power and the fight goes against us. The would be no way to recover them before we retreat. That would cost you all your pilots.” Kolar wanted everyone to weigh the risks related to a full assualt.

Vega was listening carefully and watching the conversation unfold, she had already said her piece and had a few more ideas on to give what the Captain wanted. That being said she did wonder if launching fighters immediately would only help them given the captains announced philosophy and then an idea poked her brain, “Sir.” SHe started. “We could use something similar to what we engineers called spoofing.” She allowed the word to settle, “You mentioned no wanting to be hit first, what if we somehow spoof our location upon our arrival, it only needs to be a few thousand meters but enough that any immediate threats would miss our ship and give us time to launch fighters and return fire.” She then also realised she had used the words ‘spoof’ and ‘spoofing’ without any context “For those who might not know but it basically means that we essentially make them think we are in a different location to what we actually are through the use of sensors ghosts and communication blocking. It’ll certainly give us the edge and won’t seem aggressive.”

Kolar

“We still don’t know what’s going on, on the other side.” Trevor stated. “We could be seen as the aggressor if we go in with too much force.” The Counselor was one for diplomacy, and if there was a chance they could simply drop out of warp without needing to have a show of force. After all, if the Breen was causing problems, it would take more than one starship to combat them.
