The Counselor had quickly made his way down to the Transporter Room in record time. If all goes well, Trevor would be able to get the Breen and Tholians away from the sector, but he did note there was a chance them being on the planet could raise the stakes even higher.

Grabbing a tricorder, medkit, and phaser, Lieutenant Michaels stepped onto the transporter pad and waited for the COS to arrive.

Alexandra walked in a moment later with a small security team. They carried phaser rifles and tricorders. “Counselor.” She stepped onto the pad. “I doubt negotiation will be an option with the Breen, but I’ll leave that to you.”

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

“I don’t think we’ll have time for negotiations when they see us beaming down with a small army.” The Counselor shot back, jokingly. Trevor knew they’d be in a dire position with or without the security detail, but their aggression isn’t with the Federation so maybe they’d be able to work something out with the Breen.

“I’m ready when you are, Lieutenant.” Lieutenant Michaels stated.

CNS

Alexandra nodded at the CNS and then at the transporter chief. “We’re ready.” She had a plan forming, but this was not the time or place.

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

The transporter chief said, “You will be beamed to the welcome chamber of the Algol governor’s offices.

The team felt the familiar tingling of the transporter systems before they appeared in a large room. There was a delegation waiting for them there. From their dress, they were able to identify the Algolian governor. The others remained to be discovered.

“It is good that you have come,” said the governor. The LCARS indicated that the governor was named Opol. “Do you have any idea why they are fighting within our system?”

GM

“Not as of now Governor.” Alexandra said. “We were dispatched due to a distress call from the USS Santiago. The conflict was underway when we arrived and details are few. I’m Lieutenant Alexandra Drake, Chief of Security on the USS Brian A. Olinski, this is Counselor Trevor Michaels, we’ve brought a security detachment to help in case the Breen attempt any sort of ground operations.”

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

“Do you know if there have been any Breen or Tholian presents in the sector before this?” Lieutenant Michaels asked. The Counselor hoped it was a simple firefight that led into Federation space, but the unpredictability of those involved was too high to make a conclusion that the moment.

An aide to the left of the governor looked at the governor, who gave a nod. The aide said, “The Breen have not been near our system for quite some time. We do detect them on sensors but their ships’ trajectories merely pass by the system at least a light year away. The Tholians have been travelling quite a bit in the last 12 months, travelling closer to the system but never entering out system.”

GM

“Have they made any attempt to communicate with you or anyone on the planet?” Alexandra asked. It seemed likely that this was just an unfortunate venue for a battle, but they had to check everything.

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

“No,” replied the governor, “the Breen do not reply to our hails. The Tholians have a standard reply saying that they do not want to have anything to do with our system.”

GM

Alexandra took a limited comfort in that. If they weren’t interested in the Algol home world, maybe they’d stay off it. “Would the planet have any strategic value for them that you’re aware of?”

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

“As far as we know,” the governor explained, “this system is the only advanced inhabited system between the Tholians and the Green.”
