Less than twenty minutes later, the stragglers appeared on the ship radar as on final approach. =^=Sehlat to Olinski, returning to bay. Request clearance for landing.=^= She knew Apex was behind her and Ric would come in last to be sure everyone was safe and secure. Like a mother hen clucking everyone under cover for the night, he also won out on arguments with Xandra about how he should be the first in since he was more important. Watching him swing wide from the front of the formation, she slowed to approach speed and awaited her clearance to land.

“Request granted, Sehlat,” came the reply from CIC. Put the birds to rest. Captain wants to warp out as soon as everybody is home and snuggled in tight for the night.”

The last three fighters landed and the flight crews immediatel began getting them ready for their next time out.

Climbing out of his bird, Ric’s boots hit the ground as he tossed his helmet back into the cockpit. He trotted over to Xandra’s bird and waited for her at the base of the ladder. Looking up, he said, “You’re getting kinda cocky for someone with no . . . .” he paused and looked around before letting that thought drop. “You just might end up getting yourself some extra sim time for that attitude, Miss Sassy-pants”

Ricochet (CAG)

Xandra landed her bird and waited for the flight crew to tap her down before popping the top to get out. Seeing Ric at the bottom of the ladder, she laughed. “Sim time? Seems to me last time we were in the Sims,someone got turned around backwards when nav went down.” Most times it was her who got flustered and wound up screwed up in a simulation. But last time, it has been Ric’s turn and his girlfriend wasn’t going to let him love it down.

She laughed and set her helmet by her seat before nodding to him. “You gonna back up so I can get down of this bag?” Turning around she began descending the ladder without waiting for his response.

OOC: Does the Pattern Charlie also affect the fighters?

OOC: They are ordered to form away from the main formation and be prepared to harass the enemy should it move. Maybe behind the starbase or further out on the flanks.

Once again, Ricochet had the fighters squads in position. Red and Blue squads had orders to harass the Breen ships with hit-and-run tactics, while Green and Gold squads orders were to provide air support to the Tholian web spinners while they did their job.

=^=Olinski, this is Ricochet. Fighter squads are in position and ready to engage the enemy. Ready to defend Tholian Spinners and attack Breen ships. Just waiting on your green light.=^=

=^=CAG , this is the XO, leave a light coverage on the starboard wing. Mass and overwhelm the small unit and then take the larger.=&= It was a well known tactic to mass your forces to counter a superior number… which the Breen didn’t have in either case… so for them splitting their number was tactical suicide.

The banter with Ric in the hanger had been short lived. With a quick chaste kiss on her cheek, he had given orders. Moments later, she and Gold Squad were hovering over the masses of other fighters waiting to provide support as needed. She hoped Ric was staying out of the mess. Technically he could be out there with them. As CAG he belonged to no particular squadron. But she knew he had been itching for more than sim kills and was probably on Khev’s wing waiting for one of the Breen to twitch so he could toggle on his FIRE button.

After a brief comms check, Xandra sent word to the Oli that they were in position to support the Spinners as needed.

As the Bren fighters moved, they suddenly split into two, diverging from what was their initial target. Four moving to the left wing of the formation and six moving towards the other wing.

When the CAG fighters started to move, the four fighters took evasive action, retreating about 200 kilometres before turning to move towards the six other ships.

The six ships started firing on the fighters and the web spinners in the right wing. One of the fighters (from Red Squad) was disabled, taking heavy damage. Once drifting, the Breen ships took no notice of it, focussing on the others which were still active.

The four Breen ships that had divided from the main group and was now about to join the six others made a sudden manoeuvre and fired two torpedoes each at the Olinski. They hit the shields bringing the shields down to 20%. Just as suddenly as they turned to fire at the Olinski, the suddenly turned to join with the other six attacking Breen ships.

The six Breen ships were now focussing their fire on one particular web spinner, the outermost one. Whilst not as manoeuvrable as the web spinners, the Breen ships did manage to bring down its shields down, whilst at the same time scoring hits against the Federation fighters. The Breen ships were not unscathed. Their shields took a beating as well from the weapons of the fighters and the web spinners. Despite taking the hits, none of their shields went offline, though.

OOC: I am going to let the CAG decide which squads were at which wing. I did not see the details save for the tactics for each of the squads. One Red squad fighter was rendered offline, though not destroyed.

Ric weaved his fighter in and out of the fracas, fighting alongside Apex and Red and Blue Squads, doing as much damage as they could to the Breen warships.

=^=CIC, this is the CAG, launch the Rangers and rain hell down on those warships. Red and Blue Squads, target the torpedo tubes on the warships. We need to disable them. As my old pappy used to say, it’ll be just like shooting womp rats back home.=^=

A call came over the comms from Red 4. =^=Ricochet, this is Junkman. I’ve been hit. I can still fly, but weapons are out.=^=

Ric cursed under his breath. =^=Copy that, Junkman. Get back to Mother. Nothing more you can do out here.=^=

The CAG maneuvered his bird around to make another run at the warships, arming his torpedoes as he did so. =^= Sehlat, what is your status? The spinners able to do their work?=^=

With his attack vector locked in, Ric dove the the lead Breen warship. When he registered a lock on the torpedo tubes, he let loose with a volley of his own torpedoes. . . .
