Sid had went for a walk on his own ship. Forgetting how big it really was. He made it to the CIC. A place he did not go often but did recently for his training and certification mission. He decided to pop in. As he entered a very bewildered pilot saw him and seemed not sure to do before he snapped to attention.

“Pilot where is the CAG?” He asked.

“In her office Sir. Should I get her?” He replied.

“No just inform her I am on deck. Carry on.” He answered.

The pilot went toward the CAG office and disappeared. The Captain did not pay him more attention. He was not there to see the CAG per se. More to see the operation.

As he looked around, the scene was as it always was. Despite being partially into the second shift, there was a fair number of folks milling around. A familiar dance of chaos that outsiders may question and scratch their heads at. But those inside are aware of the steps to the dance and execute it flawlessly. Crewmembers move between consoles where reports come in from security, helm, tactical, weapons and even engineering. Knowing the pulse of the ship meant the CAG, at this moment one Lieutenant Commander Primage, was aware of what was occurring and could constantly update the anticipated needs of the Captain and ship so the hangar crews, flight pilots and even weapons officers would know their duties within seconds of being called to arms.

Xandra smiled and nodded to the pilot who announced the CO’s arrival and dismissed him to return to his station. Coming out, she shifted her jerkin and tugged it into place over her uniform slacks as she exited her office. “Captain…” her smile lit up her eyes and betrayed that she truly was glad to see him. “What brings you down here? I would have thought you would be enjoying a rest and dinner at this hour.” She glanced at the chrono on the nearest console and then back at him. Her hair was up in an intricate knot on her head. A luxury she wasn’t often allowed because, till recently, a helmet could be slammed on her head in a moment’s notice. A top knot wasn’t conducive to a comfortable fit. “Everything all right?” She stepped aside and nodded to her office in silent invite in case he had come with a need to speak to her privately.

“No Commander nothing particular.” He said indicating no private conversation was needed. “As you so skillfully indicated I should most likely be on off time. However as you know there is no real off time. Plus I need to walk the halls more often and in this case I found myself here.”

The Captain was not lost on the fact Primage was a good looking woman. He had usually seen her in “pilot” mode and thought the flight suits did not detract from a beautiful woman the circumstances were usually those of combat when they interacted. He looked away and at the circular command station of the CIC. It reminded him more of a Starbase command center than a starship.

“Really its own world down here isn’t it?” He said as a question technically but more of a statement in reality.

She smiled as he mentioned this being its own little world. She hadn’t missed his look at her and she was glad he turned before she had. She had always been impressed with the man and was glad that he wasn’t one of those who shunned women in positions of leadership. Smiling as she walked up to him and nodded down to the hangar floor. “I’m happy to show you around. I mean, I know you know the ship. You’ve been here for over five years. But when was the last time you truly took a look through the hangar and saw the ships you launch from Command?” She nodded down to the area below them where the intricate dance from up here was magnified by ten times the people in ten times the space.

“Please do.” He indicated as well with his hand toward the Hangar Bay.

He had always been impressed with the Air Wing and quite proud of his ship being one the few carriers in SF. Truth be told other than to come and keep his qualifications up as a auxiliary bomber pilot he did not get around the Hangar much. He had left that to Ric for all those years and Matheson before him.

OOC: I wish 5 years but in STF IC time maybe closer to 10. I think in OOC time its 15.

The Captain followed the new CAG as she went toward the expansive yet also cramped Hangar Bay.

Xandra smiled and lead the way. Once in the hangar, she waved off those who started to come to attention and halted a half hollered, “Officer on deck!” before shooing everyone back to work. “Sorry, if you don’t dismiss them from such things right away, they hover like every one of them is your personal valet. Waiting on your simplest nod or query to send them scurrying.” She had only taken a couple more steps before turning. Her face was ashen white and she bit her lip. “Oh, gods, Sir. I’m sorry. I’m so used to Ric being sometimes hollered to and dismissing it, it didn’t occur to me that it was you they were announcing. I can call it out, myself, if you wish a formal inspection?” Her face was caught between blanched white at her mortification and beet red at her embarrassment. “I’m so sorry, Captain. Honest I am. It didn’t occur to me.” She glanced around at the hangar crew, once more at work and totally oblivious to the two officers now standing there. One absently ignored, and the other wondering how long before her screams were swallowed by the nearest airlock releasing her into her own ‘flight’ without a craft.
