He then sent the Flash Message to the CIC.

-^- OPS to CIC. CO orders birds on the deck with pilots on the ready for CQB. -^-

Dallas. Ops.

The young brunette who was on Standby Duty in CIC tapped the Comm Key on her console… the one the CAG would be at in around 90 seconds. =A= CIC here…=A= Came the crisp contralto of Petty Officer First Class Silvia Coimbra back from OPS’ request. =A=… moving Wing status to Alert One. CIC Clear=A=

With that, Silvia took a single breath… raised the plastic cover over the Alert Status Indicator switch… turned it all the way to Alert One, then smashed her thumb down on the ASI Update button. Instantly, the dormant panels throughout the Olinski’s CIC glowed to life and the ASI bars along the top of the hangar and the Main Bay switched from white to a brilliant cobalt blue. Then, following a single Alert tone, the mic in Coimbra’s console went live and her voice was carried to every pilot & aircrew on the massive ship, while also echoing through the Bay.

=A= Alert One… Alert One…=A= Silvia began with practiced precision. =A=… I repeat… Alert One… Alert One… Ready Squadrons to your craft… the clock is running=A= With that, Silvia moved from the Watchstander’s position and to her regular CIC Station as the first off the CIC Command Staff, Tactical Action Officer Lieutenant Abigail Johnson came through the door at a run… sliding across the floor to her seat and bringing up her Holotank as she asked breathlessly “Jesus Christ CB! Think ya coulda give a girl a little warning?!” Coimbra sighed as she monitored the Ready Board, already showing a half dozen Greens and another coming every few seconds. “So sorry Abby… Bridge caught me off guard and the last thing I want is for the Old Man to think…” There was a hiss behind her and Lt. Colonel Malcolm Dawkins stepped through with a soft smile, asking the PO “And what am I not supposed to be thinking PO?” The young woman looked like she was about to swallow her tongue. After a moment, Dawkins chuckled and asked. “Let me guess… you didn’t want the Old Man thinking you were sitting around on your ass?” His tone was bright and the blushing Launch Boss nodded nervously. “Something like that… Sir.”

Walking over, Dawkins gave the PO a pat on the shoulder and a warmer smile. “I think ya did just fine Miss…?” Silvia blushed brighter. “Aero Officer First Class Silvia Coimbra… Sir.” Dawkins chuckled once more, patting Silvia’s shoulder and walking back to his station as Astro Control Officer, Lieutenant Commander Antonio Cortez came through the door at a much more relaxed pace than the TAO. Holding a steaming cup of tea in his right hand and a PaDD in his left. “Mornin’ Boss…” Cortez said, sounding more bored than excited. Dawkins just shook his head, a soft snort escaping him. “Toni… do you ever get in a hurry?”

It didn’t take long for the green light calls to start coming through. =/\= Blue 1 to CIC, Blue Squadron is green across the board. Standing by for orders. Blue 1 clear. =/\=

Maj. Carnegie, Blue Squadron Leader (breaking Jerome’s post with permission)

Coimbra replied to Blue 1 almost instantly. =A= Welcome to the party Blue 1… you Sentinels don’t mess around, do ya?=A= Silvia said with a smile. =A= You all just knocked 14 seconds off the Big Bird Readiness Record and beat the last two of Red plus a straggler from Green… Well done Ma’am. CIC Clear =A=

The reply came in promptly. =/\= Thank you CIC, we try our best. Sentinel 1 out. =/\= There was clear pride in her voice.

As Cortez docked his PaDD and the last of the status lights began to glow green on his display and the main wall, the man simply shrugged. “Honestly Astro… not really.” He motioned over the edge of the window as the last Tempie glided into place. “… with these boys & girls… I haven’t a worry in the world.” As the last green light glowed, Cortez tapped the button on his console that stopped the timer. “Two minutes, fifty-seven seconds… not to bad at all. Here I thought they’d try showing off for you Colonel… come back with one of those ridiculous sub-2:30 times.” Dawkins rolled his eyes and walked to his console as the rest of his team arrived. He opened a channel to Bridge and proudly reported. =A=CIC to Bridge, this is the CAG… got 24 Tempies on deck and ready to go… another dozen and a couple Recons ready to roll when the dance floor’s clear. CAG out =A=

Dawkins, CAG

=^=OPS to CIC clear=^=

Dallas Ops

The Olinski’s CAG opened an All-Craft channel and spoke with a smile Ellie would recognize immediately. =A= Good morning Aviators, this is your Captain speaking. I applaud you all on your outstanding performance thus far. As soon as we have more information on mission parameters, I will pass it along. As of right now, we will remain at Alert One until cleared by the Bridge or we launch. In the event of an un-briefed launch, Red and Green squadrons will establish a CQB perimeter around the Olinski at 10K meters fore & aft. Blue Squadron will move Recon units onto the launch lanes as soon as Red & Green are clear. Blue 1, you & Blue 2 will take point port & starboard respectively at 2,500 meters with Blue 3 & 4 mirroring you to the aft. Be as noisy and flashy as you want Carnegie… we’ll watch your back. Blue 5 through 12 will move into launch standby once you all are clear. Heads on swivels people… we don’t know what’s out there… but they’re going to know when we arrive on the scene. Squadron leaders, blast doors will stay sealed until launch authorization comes from the Bridge or here in CIC. You see the door drop, be ready to punch it. Good hunting. CAG Clear =A=

Dawkins turned to the TAO and asked rather flatly. “We got a TME (OOC: Threat Matrix Estimate) up yet Abby?” The Tactical Action Officer shook her head. “Not yet Boss… give me another 20 seconds and it’ll be on the main viewer.” Dawkins nodded as he walked to CIC’s equivalent of The Chair and slowly lowered himself into it. “Good… I want a better idea of what we’re throwing our people into. If you can’t get a clear pic through our system, just tie us into the Bridge. Not ideal but works in a pinch.” The TAO replied with a crisp “Aye”.

While they waited, Malcolm typed a quick message to Ellie. Two minutes and forty-one seconds. Not bad Ellie… trying to impress the Old Man I see. ;)

Dawkins, CAG

It didn’t take long for a typed reply to come through. Just putting some fighter jocks in their place. <3

Maj. Carnegie, Blue Squadron Leader

=^=Ops to CIC. Launch Recon. Alert One. Harass and Delay those fleeing ships. The Cap wants to see who is interested in them. The use of force is at the discrection of the CAG.=^=

Dallas OPs to CIC

Dawkins looked up from Ellie’s message as the call came in. Before he could even open his mouth, the ASI bars flashed twice and the voice of Antonio Cortez snapped across the comms like a whip as the blast doors on the slammed open… the pressure in the Bay now only maintained via the Atmospheric shield. =A= This is Air Control… Red Squadron… Launch Launch Launch. Red 1 through 4 standby by after launch to Escort Recon… Red 5 through 8, CQB 10K off port, Red 9 through 12… same on starboard.=A=

As the Red Squadron launched with near perfect precision, the Olinski’s Air Controller continued. =A= Recon… When Red is clear, the floor is yours. Launch immediately. With Red Flight Alpha for cover, you are to intercept and delay unknown vessels at bearing…=A= There was a brief pause =A=… 245 mark 2 niner. You have the lead Blue 1.=A= There was another pause before Dawkins’ voice came across the channel. =A= This is the CAG… Weapons Free… Avoid use of force if possible. Good hunting. CAG Clear.=A=

Dawkins/Cortez

It took only a few minutes after the groups’ departure for Carnegie’s voice to come through the comms.

=/\= Blue 1 to CAG. Carnegie here. We’re getting short length coded comms on the e-band. Badger is enhancing the signal and passing them through our ship’s computer to see if we can get anything, but the Olinski might be better suited for that. =/\=

Maj. Carnegie, Blue Team Leader

Dawkins’ voice came back almost immediately. =A= Blue 1, CIC here. Patching data through to the Bridge. Maintain pursuit and make sure Badger keeps his ears on. We need to know what they’re up to. Dawkins clear=A=

Dawkins, CAG

=^=Captain to CIC open fire on those ships and stop them in their tracks. If your birds cannot do it then break away and we will fire. =^=

Came the voice of the Captain directly over the coms.

Parker CO

OOC: Posting to keep from being AWOL

IC: The fighters began to move more quickly towards the cloaked vessels. The cloaked vessels were moving steadily more quickly but were not as manuoevrable as the fighters.

GM

OOC: Yea and we need a little fighter wing action here so Jerome get them in motion. Thanks!

Sidney

Less than a second after the Bridge’s message reached the ears of the CIC team, Tactical Action Officer Lieutenant Abigail Johnson rammed her thumb down on the big red button on her console. Instantly, the CIC doors closed… locking securely behind them and the Alert Status Indicator bars throughout the massive hangar bay snapped instantly from the cobalt blue of Alert One… to the crimson red of Combat Action Stations. A two-second audible tone boomed through the space before the mic in front of Lieutenant Commander Antonio Cortez, the Olinski’s Astro Control Officer, clicked live. =A= Action Stations… I repeat… Action Stations…=A= The veteran controller began. =A= Air Crews stand ready… Green Squadron prepare for Tactical Launch.=A=

As Cortez was speaking, Dawkins typed a simple message to his deployed craft:

=A= Cleared to engage. Blue… go for ECM. Red… Attack, Attack, Attack =A=

Dawkins then tapped the Comm to the Bridge. =A=CIC to Bridge… we copy. Engaging now.=A=
