A West Coast Party Don't Stop

The lounge of the Olinski was similar to that of any other lounge in the fleet. Certain elements were always present. A couple sat off to the side sitting close enough for one to surmise the table was reserved and you should not saunter over. A group of pilots back from patrol that were probably drinking too much and would be slightly late to the morning debriefing took up the largest table in the space. The smattering of people in smaller groups spreading gossip from the ship or what they overheard about other ships filled in the spaces in-between.

Kolar surveyed the room and debated where to sit. As the XO it was always tricky. Sitting at the bar alone made one look depressed and sullen. Joining a group meant the conversational dynamic would be interrupted because no one really wanted to relax with the 2iC at their table. Finally deciding on a table out of the way but not hidden in a corner ended up being his final destination. It gave the impression someone could approach but was far enough out of the room’s entry path no one would feel obligated to say hi as they passed through.

Science officer Ensign Copecky was a brash and new officer to the Olinski. He felt he had all the answers and was not shy to tell anyone what they were. He saw the XO and former somewhat famous in his own right as a Science Officer in the Lounge. Almost an unheard of event. So he made his way over not having a really good gauge of the fact it may or may not be in his place to just walk up to the XO.

“Greetings Sir. If I may sit I am sure you can enlighten me on some points I have been pondering.” He said forgetting wholly to even introduce himself.
