The Captain arrived to the Brig with the XO. He then hit his com badge.

=^=CMO this is the Captain. CMO to the Brig. Not a medical Emergency.=^=

“Lets see what we have.” he added as he walked to the Brig cell with 5 Romulan looking prisoners.

“Sir.” The Lt on duty reported. “They will only say they are Romulan and sayiing this institutes an Act of War. Nothing more.”

“Does it? Maybe so but I don’t think in the way they expect.” He answered as he stepped up to the Brig force field.

Parker CO

Abel’s brow furrowed at the message but he looked at the nurse assisting him and said “I guess that’s my cue. Finish dressing the wound and give him a little something for the pain.” He went to his office and got his medical bag and tricorder anyway, just in case.

A few minutes later Abel came into the detention area and said “Yes sir, you called for me? How can I help?”

Abel, CMO

“Give these guys the once over to ensure we are treating them…fairly,” the XO said to the CMO. “Just don’t get too close.”

Kolar XO

Abel looked confused and said “I’m sorry? I’m not sure I quite understand, Commander. Have they complained about something physical? Treating a prisoner ‘fairly’ isn’t exactly so eating I can set my tricorder to scan for. Should I be looking for something in particular, sir?”

Abel, CMO

The Captain looked at the CMO and he figured he did not get the full meaning of what Kolar was trying to impress to him.

“We don’t think they are Romulans so while you are doing your regular duty to ensure that all prisoners are being treated fairly and with care let us know what your scan finds. They somehow blocked the buffer in the transporter recognizing their DNA scan. I suspect they all have some type of subdermal system working.” He said as he leaned toward the CMO.

Parker CO

“Ah, I see.” Abel said matter-of-factly. He thought for a moment and then said “Well, Captain… if they somehow fooled the transporter buffer… it would be impossible as far as I know. More likely they had something that simply switched the data in the buffer during transport. Because if their physical bodies registered as Romulan and they are not… the transporter would still reassemble their matter according to the law of Romulan physiology. Or they could be similar to Romulan enough the biological rules are so similar that any deviatioon would be moot. So in order not to kill them, they would have to be something similar… Vulcan. Either way, it should be reactively easy to detrmine… I hope.” He took out his tricorder and began scanning the prisoners. First, he did a basic DNA screening and ran a comparison against the Romulan average. Next he took a slightly different route. Instead of analyslzing their DNA, he began looking at mineral and metal traces in their teeth. A profile of that would allow him to limit the scope of the point of origin of the prisoners due to diet and the like. After that, he ran a full scan of internal organs and their locations and functionality. And lastly, he ran a comparison of cellular waste processing. Regardless of what tech could fool a teleporter buffer; one thing the body can’t ever fake is how it process fuel and what waste is least valuable to it.

Abel, CMO

What he would initially see on his tricorder was what he was meant to see. A Romulan. However if he was observant he would see the DNA make up was very similar to each other. As if it was a template almost. What he was not aware of was that the complex subdermal implants in each one of the four was feeding this info to the tricorder in the same way it fed the false data to the transporter log only after the beaming process had completed. As such the transporter could safely beam them aboard the data they would receive immediately would be that of the template Romulan species.

However with the multiple scans he was using it was just a matter of “you could fool some of them some of the time but not all of them all the time” scenario. As the scans layered over each other an interesting picture formed. The four were actually Xindi Primate, Reptilian, Aquatic and Arboreal. The implants were using a very sophisticated holo tech to conceal the real identities even as much as physical form to the touch. Even the breathing apparatus used for the aquatic was impossible to detect and they way he was able to move about, the little he did.

GMish

Abel was not a good poker player, so as the data began to coalesce, he let out a series of ever slightly louder “Oh… Oh!… Oh okay!!” When the scans were complete, he didn’t say anything to the prisoners. He simply handed the tricorder to the Captain and pointed out the species and the implants.

Abel, CMO

Kolar leaned over and glanced at the raised an eyebrow. “Lions and Tigers and bears oh my,” he commented alluding to the ancient story about three unseen dangers that lurked just out of sight. The question was why these species were hiding themselves.

Kolar XO

As this was occurring the Red Alert went off. The Captains instinct was to go to the Bridge in a flash but he held himself when he saw one of the Romulan, not Romulan smile. He looked over to Kolar and nodded toward the door.

“So Xindi it is and quite the amount of work you went through to look Romulan. Can we end this. If you think what ever is happening outside this ship will make your situation improve I sadly inform you it will not.” The Captain said coolly.

“Dr best guess on what they are using to pull this trick off?” He asked as he did not expect much answer from them.

Parker CO

Abel wasn’t a good poker player, that was true. But what he was, however, was very smart and able to read situations well. He looked at the Captain and said, quite matter of factly, “As far as I can tell, sir,it is some kind of implant technology that disguises them in more than just a visible fashion.” and he looked at the prisoners with an expressionless face.

“I’ll know more once the devices are cut out of them.” he said with a sense of finality.

Abel, CMO

At least two of them suddenly looked surprised and looked at one of the other Romulans.
“You would not dare. You are federation!” One of the two blurted out before the lead Romulan gave him a hard stare.

“Well now we know who the leader is.” The Captain remarked.

He looked over at the Dr and gave him a smirk as if to say “well played.”

“I assume you are at Red Alert for a good reason, don’t you Captain?” The one now designated as the leader spoke up.

“I assume we are but as you can see I am not worried enough to leave. Just tell us what is happening here so that this can end.” The Captain replied. “Whatever endgame you are imaging is not going to happen.”

Parker CO

A series of curse mumbled from Kolar’s mouth as he headed towards the door and back to the bridge.

Kolar XO

“If they launched a torpedo dear Captain you might want to hold onto something. Those are double yield. Dangerous to have on board I agree but very powerful.” He lead non Romulan said as he smirked.

=^=Captain to Bridge. Their torpedos are double yield. If they launch put some space between the Olinski and it=^-= THe Captain said as he hit his com badge.

He assumed that was part of the plan and if the Xindi was saying it out loud then he must assume they launched.

“It still wont work out the way you think.” The Captain said with steel in his voice.

Parker CO

Abel was watching the exchange with piqued interest. Many high level negotiations with hostile government officials on both sides of his foundation’s table had allowed him a certain aptitude in reading individuals. “Captain, they’re stalling. Biding time for something. By what they have already stated, they and their accomplices are a threat to the ship and the crew. Therefore I will offer to expedite this interrogation with the application of some neuroaspizine gas in their cell. As I am sure you know, sir, it is a highly effective truth-inducing compound… although the after effects are most problematic. I mean, it works, but it does tend to leave a statistically significant number in a permanent vegetative state. I doubt Star Fleet would frown on its use in this circumstance, however.”

Able was, of course, lying. The ‘compound’ was quite ficticious. But he was selling it really well.

Abel, CMO

The Captain was willing to go along.

“Gentelmen you probably knew the Olinski would get involved at some point and if you did not then a really big mistake on your part. You see I have been known to throw the book away sometimes and as they say “The fog of war” can overcome some. In this case I’m willing to risk the consequences of the good doctors suggestion. As apparently your leader seems quite sure we will be destroyed in this battle. Why not.” The Captain said playing it straight.

“Dr go ahead and prepare it.” He said looked over to Abel.

At this time the nervous one looked over at his comrades.

“Stop. Stop. I did not agree to this.” He blurted. “You said provoke them to war with each other. Hit and run. No exposure. I did not think it meant I was going to sacrifice myself. Im in this to gain not lose.”

One of the others lunged at the one speaking out. He grabbed him by the throat and as they tussled it appeared the one crying outs implant was damaged as he suddenly began flashing between a Romulan and a Xindi Arboreal.

Parker/GM

OOC: I would not be against an old fashioned drop the brig shield and hit him with a hypo Doctor move. haha

IC:
As the two tussled the Captain could feel, even with dampners, his ship making a hard maneuvering move. However he did not let.

“Dr you or I?” He asked proposing who should use which method to end the fight.

Parker CO

Able shrugged and moved to the Brig control consol. He tapped in a series of commands and soon a low-dose of anesthezine gas was pumped into the brig. Not enough to knock them out, but enough to make them very tired.

Abel, CMO

The effect took a second which resulted in a little more abuse by the one on the other but then all involved slumped down. Except the Romulan/Acuatic which seemed to be less effected. Probably by the way he absorbed oxygen through water first. However he was not inclined to be aggressive to begin with.

The Captain looked over at the CMO.

“Good work Dr. I think they will be more inclined to cooperate or less inclined to be aggresive.” He said.

“Listen we are under attack but by the time I get to the Bridge it will probably be too late. Does this gas make them inclined to be more..truthful?” He asked.

Parker CO

Abel shrugged. “It’s not a ‘truth serum’ or anything, but it does make people more open t suggestion as a side effect of being a bit anesthetized. To put it simply, their ‘filters’ won’t work well. They may catch themselves saying something they shouldn’t, but the higher brain functions necessary to lie are somewhat inhibited.”

Abel, CMO

The Captain jumped right in with the information that Abel gave him.

“Listen friends this is it. What is your command codes to stop the torpedo launches. We will survive them for sure and nothing will be left of you.” He said quickly.

One of the them dazzlingly stared to speak.

“Codes to my ship. That’s easy. Easy question haha. 78alpharomeo65.” He said half in an half out of consciousness.

“Abel contact the bridge and give them that code.” He snapped toward the CMO.

Abel tapped his vommbadge and said =/\= CMO to Bridge. Access code for attacking vessel is 78alpharomeo65. Repeat. 78alpharomeo65. =/\=

“Anything else?” He said in an easy voice to them, Inwardly he only hoped the ship that was going to fire next was the one those codes worked on.

Parker CO

Abel, CMO

bump

=^= Clear Sick Bay=^= came the voice of Ops officer Dallas

Dallas

Micro seconds later the ship suddenly shuddered from an impact and Parker was tossed across the room and hit the opposite wall. Every security personnel in the Brig was also tossed to one side. The prisoners bounced inside the cell like ping pong balls. The security shield went off but emergency power snapped into place and no prisoner was able to escape even if that was possible. They were just as impacted as everyone else. The lights flickered on and off and then emergency lighting came on. As inertial controls was established Parker eased himself off the floor. He appeared not be injured but around him it was obvious several security personnel were knocked out or cradling an injured limb.

Parker

Abel was slightly less fortunate. The impact had tossed him over the Brig control panel and he landed hard on his left wrist. He sat up and cradled the arm, and felt around the obvious edema starting. “Probably broken.” he said more to himself than anyone else. He looked around and found his medical bag and slid over to it. He opened it one handed, and reached in and pulled out a large silvery square that seemed filled with some kind of liquid. He squee, squeezed, the square with his uninjured hand and there was a muffled pop, and he shook the object vigorously for a few seconds. He then took the square and began molding it around his forearm, wrist, and between his thumb and index finger. In a few short moments, his arm was in a cast.He then looked around and said “Ok, and you can walk help the ones who cannot over to the open cell and put them on the bed and the floor next to it. That will be triage. Anyone who is not* injured, go out into the hall and see if anyone needs medical help. But two of you stay here and help bring the wounded to the bed.”

Abel, CMO

Injury reports flooded the Sick Bay who began relaying them to the Brig as well so the CMO was aware.

The Captain wanted to go to the bridge but he hoped the codes he had sent to them would work. He did not want to interrupt Kolar doing his job to ask the status. He was more than competent to get the job done.

He instead helped a security ensign up.

“You ok son?’ He asked.

“Yes Sir. I guess.” The young Bolian answered.

“Keep them secure. They get treated as soon as crew get treated. Keep them in there.” He said referring to the prisoners. They were in slightly better shape than others as they were more confined and only bounded around withing their cell.

Parker CO

After the latest explosion had rocked the ship the Captain looked at Abel.

“I leave them and the wounded to you Dr. I’m heading to the bridge.” He said.

Two explosions. At least the second one was less than the first and that was usually a good thing. He found the turbo was on emergency power and as such was moving not to turbo. It finally reached the Bridge.
