The CMO of the Olinski walked through the large Promenade area of the station where they were docked for repairs. He had a full two days of rest and relaxation ahead of him, having caught up with all the reports and backlogged notes he had been trying to get done for a week. He sighed in relief as he traded the recycled air of the ship for the recycled air of the station. It wasn’t fresh.. but at least it was different.

As he walked and looked at the various offerings, a small commotion off to the right caught his eye. Two people were arguing and it was getting heated. Abel was about to walk on and ignore them when one of the participants, a human male, grasped his left pectoral area and collapsed to the deck.

Abel rushed over and knelt next to him, pressing his fingers to his neck to feel for a pulse. The man he was arguing with scoffed loudly. “Oh what a crock! You always do this, Rick! You just can’t stand to be called out your crap so you fake some kind of injury to get out of it and garner sympathy. That may have worked with Mom and Dad, but it won’t work on me!” he said loudly. Abel scowled and looked back at the speaker. “Call for an emergency medical team. This man is having a heart attack.” The figure scoffed again. “Right. Bulls#!t. What are you? Some kinda doctor?” Abel didn’t look back but said “No some kind. I am a doctor, and this man needs medical attention right now.” Abel looked at ‘Rick’ and said “Rick? Look at me. My name is Doctor Abel, and I’m going to help you. What I need you to do right now is sit up and cough as hard as you can. C’mon.” and he helped Rick sit up. “C’mon, cough. Hard. As fast as you can! C’mon!”

Abel, CMO

Rick struggled up to a seated position, from which he couldn’t help but cough. =/\=Emergency medical to the promenade, right away!=/\= the other man called.

A couple minutes later, an emergency medical team pushed their way through to the patient and doctor. A nurse knelt down while two orderlies prepared a stretcher. “How’s he doing doc?” She asked.

Abel took the tricorder and began to run it over theman. “Possible acute MI. Prep a hypo with 10 mgs nitroglycerin and prep to move hom to sickbay. Do you have a cardiologist on staff?” he asked.

“We do, but she’s performing a cardiac transplant right now.” The nurse responded.

The scan came back and Abel frowned. “Clot in the left circumflex artery. We need to get him into sickbay now. Contact your transporter room and tell them we need emergency point to point transfer. Alerts sickbay of a cardiac emergency and have a bed ready for him when we arrive.”

Abel, CMO

The nurse tapped her combadge. =/\=Emergency point to point transport. Cardiac emergency headed for sickbay. Attending Physician is… here with the patient.=/\= “What’s your name, Doc?”

-GM

“Lieutenant Commander Sigfried Abel, CMO of the Olinski. Go. Energize.” he said calmly but forcefully.

Abel, CMO

=/\=Here with the patient is Dr Siegfried Abel. Transport immediately.=/\= the patient dematarialized before their eyes. “He should be in sickbay now.” The nurse said.

-GM

“Good. Take me there right away.” Abel looked at the other man and said “Come with us.” and he stood up and gestured for the medics to lead the way.

Abel, CMO

The Nurse started towards sickbay and waved to Abel to follow. As they went she asked “Doctor, what ship brought you here? All due respect, I know you’re not on Starbase staff. We do appreciate the help though. And I’m sure your patient does too.”

-GM

“The Olinski. We just docked and are on leave.” Abel said and cast a glance at the patient’s brother. “Well, the crew is. Some things just don’t pause for vacation.”

Abel, CMO

The Nurse nodded. “I saw the ship when it came in. A lot of damage. You must’ve been busy.” The brother followed along “Wait, all of this is real? It’s really happening?”

Abel looked at him and said “Of course it is. And you need to be more ‘in the moment’, sir. Your brother is in very real danger.”

When they came to sickbay they immediately saw their patient swarmed by staff.

-GM

Abel didn’t wait or ask, he just pushed through and looked around. “Who is the attending? And where is the surgical suite? Get it up and on the table, we have to clear that clot immediately. No time to wait for meds to dissolve it.”

Abel, CMO

“Attending is Lieutenant Commander Ch’Narreth.” One of the circulating staff answered. They relocated the patient to an adjacent surgical suite. Two nurses and the starbase’s attending physician scrubbed up and entered the room.
