The away team materialized in the primary cargo bay. There were bodies of crew members scattered about. The cargo bay was also packed with the cargo it had left port with.

-GM

Abel grabbed his tricorder and began examining the crew, looking for any signs of life or anything that may lead them to some answers.

Abel, CMO

Stepping on the transporter pad to beam over had been a moment of attcipation and dread, she was still high on the thought of her first away mission but after scanning the ship and seeing the damage she was dreading what they would find over there. She had checked her kit from the weapons locker, she knew it might be needed, she hoped it wouldn’t be, but she wasn’t that much of an idealist.

Materializing in the cargobay of the ship Abbie knew she was right to dread this, there were bodies scattered around teh bay, Abbie had never seen a real dead body plenty of holodeck generated ones, but there was something different about a real one. Abbie took a breath, this wasn’t the time, she needed to focus on the task, remeber the job, think only about what she was here to do. She glanced at her tricorder scanning for life in the room, life signs that weren’t the away team. This was only a glance her real focus was on the room, listening for anything that might give away an ambush. Her job was to secure the cargo bay and that’s what she was goign to do. Abbie moved past the bodies heading slowly for the door that led to the rest of teh ship.

-Ensign Wainewright
“Abel any of them alive,” Kolar asked stepping carefully around the bodies lying haphazardly about.

“No. Not a one. All died from energy weapons fire.” Abel responded. It didn’t take a tricorder to tell that, the burns were evidence enough.

“Everything copasetic Ensign,” Kolar asked. The first beam into a pile of corpses rattled everyone’s nerves, even though with lots of experience. “In and out,” he commented in a slightly distracted tone as he both took a breath and scanned the area. This was not his first time being ankle-deep in bodies. It was not the bodies that bothered him necessarily. It was the bodies you thought were dead but grabbed your ankle as you walked by one never got used to.

Abbie was doing her best to ignore the bodies so when the Bajorian XO asked if she was fine she lied “Yes Sir, fine sir” Abbie would process this all later, assuming she had a later and didn’t end up like these poor souls.

There were no signs of life, and by every sign none of their deaths were an accident. The bodies became fewer through the door and into the hall. The scorch marks of weapons fire coated the walls and floor. Abbie saw three doors. One straight ahead, and one one either side.

-GM

Seeing the three doors, Kolar looked at the officer on his left. “Scan them,” he ordered. There was no sense is directly walking into an ambush if one didn’t need to. Hopefully the scans would give them some insight as to what was behind the door or which door to choose.

Kolar XO

Abbie was glad to focus on the work, she could get her head down and work. Abbie scanned the door in front of her, she also scanned the weapon marks on the wall to see if they matched the weapons used by the Jem’Hadar. She was looking for other life forms on the ship, and moved her scanning to the other two doors. “Sir do we have a floor plan for this class of ship might be helpful to see where these doors lead before we start opening them.”

-Ensign Wainwright

Scans indicated they were killed with Romulan Disruptors.

-GM

“Just because it Romulan Disruptors, doesn’t mean its a Romulan.” He looked back and forth for a moment. “Keep an eye out for mechanical traps.” He did a spread out gesture. “Confirm we’re clear then get the logs.”

Kolar

Abbie thought it strange that the shots on the ship were Jem Hadar and the shots in the ship were Romulan. “Do you think they could be working together Sir? Or using a stolen vessel?” She asked as she carefully made her way to the nearest door. She scanned it looking for booby traps, door traps were basic but effective and exactly what she would do.

-Ensign Wainwright

“Doubtful that they are working together,” Kolar replied. “Both races tend to be insular. It is more likely the Romulans heard about the weapons and came looking for them or that whoever has our weapons also jacked some from the Romulans. Our question here should be who got the weapons if they are not on the ship.” Thinking he let out a deep contemplative breath waiting to see what her scans stated about the possible traps behind or around the door.

Kolar XO

(OOC: To be super clear, the weapons were NOT taken off the ship. So far the only evidence is that the crew was massacred.)

There was no evidence of traps. Internal sensor logs indicated a team of fifteen humans entering the ship, a great deal of disruptor fire, and then sixteen people beamed out.

-GM

OOC: I can remember if I put Dallas in this group or not but lets say I did.
IC:

Dallas was looking around and taking in the scene and information.

“The logs show 15 intruders beamed to the ship and 16 beamed off. A kidnapping or a rescue. Might explain why they did nor bother with the cargo so much.” He added.

Dallas

Seeing the three doors, Kolar looked at the officer on his left. “Scan them,” he ordered. There was no sense is directly walking into an ambush if one didn’t need to. Hopefully the scans would give them some insight as to what was behind the door or which door to choose.

Kolar XO

=^=Captain to CIC. We might be dealing with a Jem Ha’dar Battle ship. Plug that into your planning. We might need the fighters or bombers to be able to get in close.=^=

=/\=Understood=/\= Kolar replied in a tight voice.

Parker CO

OOC: Added the cross post from the CO. - Luke

Scans of a broader area seemed to indicate the away team were the only living beings present on the ship.

-GM

Abbie shook her head at the scan, it wasn’t making sense “Sir” she said looking over at the XO. “Something isn’t sitting right, well actually lots isn’t. 15 beam aboard right, 16 leave but the rest of he crew are murdered and a high value cargo isn’t even touched, what if this isn’t about the weapons. What if they were just a diversion, what if the actual high value cargo was the survivor?” Abbie wasn’t sure but there was something making her inner security officer feel uneasy.

She was hoping to find the Bridge maybe the logs and potentiality a crew manifest to see who this 16th person was.

-Ensign Wainwright

Her observation had merit. Someone had to invent this and why take one weapon when you could take the creative mind that invented it? “Bring up the crew manifest,” he replied.

Balfor XO

A full crew manifest was easily accessible. Examining all the bodies, the away team would find a human officer, Clark Delwin, was missing from the ship.

-GM

Abel, CMO

Abbie looked over the list “Sir, it appears to be someone called Clark Delwin missing. I’ll get the crewman who’s on security to see if their name comes up. Unless it’s a name you already recognise.”

Kolar pursed his lips. This was a thread that needed to be pulled on.

=/\= Ensign Wainwright to Crewman Bowstreet, can you run the name Clark Delwin through the computer, Human was on the crew manifest for this ship. Let me know what you get.=/\=

-Ensign Wainwright

“Good Idea.” Kolar agreed with the maneuver it was what he was about to order.

Kolar.

Abbie knew it might take her counterpart on the ship sometime to find the information. Plus the result of the information was not going to help the dead on the ship.

“It might take them a few minutes to find out who this guy is Sir” she advised the XO “What’s next Sir?” It wasn’t it of new ensign eagerness that she asked the question, but simply because she wasn’t sure what more they could do other than remove the bodies, empty the cargo and download the computer, but it still felt like something was missing.

  • Ensign Wainwright

Abel began scanning the corpses, trying to establish a time of death to begin establishing a timeline of events.

Abel, CMO

“Anything you can tell us yet Abel,” Kolat asked the CMO as the man scanned the bodies.

Kolar XO

Scans showed they hadn’t been dead long. Residual transporter energy showed that approximately 6 hours earlier 15 people had beamed in and 16 had beamed out 4 minutes later. The name brought up the file of a crewman on the cargo ship. He joined the crew a few months prior. Odd for a crewman on a cargo ship, he had two PhDs. One in Physics, the other in Engineering.

-GM

Abbie received the update on the missing crewman and raised an eyebrow, “Sir I hope you like worms as I think we just opened a whole can of them” she said showing the XO the information on the missing crewman. “He seems massively over qualified for the job he was doing, I would say he’s probably a plant or in hiding.” Abbie was suspicious by nature. Whenever faced with a question or a situation she wondered how she would get herself out of it, she’d started as a child, causing mayhem and then have to think fast to get herself out of it. In the academy the mayhem hadn’t stopped but she had been told her ability of knowing all the ways someone could dog themselves out of trouble would make her good for security.

Abbie pondered the information. “I would think that either he was running away from something, crewing on a cargo ship is a good place to hide, but I would think it was done in a hurry or he’s not very experienced as her didn’t think to changed his name. Alternatively someone had planted him here to collect something or report on something.” She said voicing her current working ideas to the XO.

-Ensign Wainwright

“And judging from the scan data I am getting, I would add that I believe the missing crewman may have been abducted.” Abel said gravely.

Kolar stared at the screen. “I would venture to say you are right that he was here but with all those degrees and our current orders from Starfleet I am suspect that he was kidnapped or did not go unwillingly. Is there any direct information about this guy in the database aside from him being on the crew a few months prior to this incident?”

Kolar XO

Abel continued to analyze the burns and wounds on the corpses, trying to identify what kind of weapons were used.

Abel, CMO

The weapon burns were from Romulan disruptors.

OOC: Can I be of any help here?

-Kieron-

Abbie scanned the info sent from the secuity station on the ship, “I’ve only got a small amount of information currently, a longer and more detailed report is going to take time and would idealy be done from the security office on the ship.” Abbie wasn’t even sure she had the clearence to get half the information she might need. “If it’s an abduction, do you think ops can get enough information from this ship to follow our kidnappers?” they could see what had happened but without a trail of breadcrumbs to follow…Abbie stopped “Sir, do you think our abducted crewman may have left us some clues or breadcrumbs to follow?” if she was worried someone was going to adbduct her she’d certainly make sure someone knew who it was who’d done it.

She went to the nearest functioning terminal, she knew she was probabily grabbing at straws but it was that or asking the CMO if he wanted help moving bodies. “Computer… play most recent log from Clark Delwin” she asked, crossing her fingers and hoping this wasn’t about to turn into an argument with the ships computer.

-Ensign Wainwright

=Personal Log…. Eh the stardate doesn’t really matter. Thank god this is my last trip with these people. I don’t think I could stomach another. I am many things, a smuggler is not one of them. I finally have a full set of functional prototypes. Once Starfleet takes possession I can- I can go home. I wonder how much it’s changed. I wonder how much Bailey has changed. She must be… she must be seven now. I missed so much.=

-GM

“So maybe our Mr. Delwin was more intelligence operative than abductee,” Kolar let the message they discovered mull about his brain. “See if there are any more logs. Maybe Mr. Delwin will have left us a bread crumb as you called it by mentioning the name of someone or a planet in prior logs. Also, start scanning to see if we can pick up a trail like you suggested to figure out what general direction they left.”

Kolar XO

Abbie had hoped the logs would make things clearer, instead it had erupted like one of those joke blood worn cans. “He doesn’t come across asa very willing operative from those logs. ” Abbie remarked. ” I’ll see what I can dig up Sir “

Abbie yourd the nearest station, If she was going to hide logs where would she put them? There were lots of ways She could thank to hide them, but what if she wanted or needed someone to find then in an emergency? ” Computer, Search any logs for Bailey Delwin.”

She also needed to find a trail of bread Crumbs. A trail subtile enough not to alert captors but perhaps something Starfleet Intelligence might have given them if the situation arose. “Computer scan Crewman Delwin’s quarters for radiation on all spectrums and bands anything different from normal background. ” She shoved her hands in her pockets and tried not to glare at the station, she was grasping at straws, this was all new. She had no level of experience to draw from, no previous investigations, but if every away mission was like this, She’d end up like some criminal Mastermind.

  • Ensign Abbie Wainwright

OOC - Sorry for the absence I have lost track of time revising for an exam

“Interesting plan.” Kolar remarked.
