OOC: I thought I would start this.
IC:
Mirri was already in the shuttle and preparing for departure. She had laid in a course and had the engines primed and warming up. She waited for everyone to arrive and was already looking at different courses in the event of a problem. She was planning on manual flight, she didn’t even pretend that this was going to be a simple flight, she had been in tighter situations.

Doolittle arrived at the shuttle bay. A place he was familiar with from his recent mission with the squad leader pilot suffering from a form of PTSD. He looked over to the COS and smiled. It was his way of reassuring the crew member that he was fine and that all would go well. Doolittle was first and foremost a psychiatrist no matter what the new title suggested. He only hoped he was up to the new medical doctor role.

Doolittle MD

The Andorian returned the smile, nodding slightly with his antennae.

“They don’t pay us by the hour,” Kolar said to no one in particular as he headed into the shuttle bay. Runabouts really were just mini-starships. Higher warp, higher hull integrity, size, weapons than a shuttle. She could just do more. He liked more. He walked confidently to the hatch. “Prep for departure. We’ll come in high and from down wind. Maybe it will be all over by time we get there.”

Kolar CSO

The COS got settled into tactical and began running a quick check on the associated systems, the most important of which being the metaphasic shielding. In terms of weaponry, the shuttle’s phasers and micro launchers all appeared to be in order.

COS Ch’zaolrirh

Kolar looked over Ch’zaolrirh’s shoulder watching his checklist. He spoke softly, but his words came out clearly. “Anything could use the storm as cover… friend or foe.” He didn’t explain why he made that discernment.

Doolittle got into the shuttle and took a seat in the back. He was comfortable enough but ready was to get this underway. He was more nervous if he had to take serious medical care of someone.

Permission was given for the shuttle to move …

Mirri piloted them to the area and as Kolar gave directions, she began piloting the shuttle into a reentry angle at the northern pole.

“Standard re-entry angle, but arc us east of the northern pole.” It wasn’t a significant difference, but it would use the storm as cover the runabout angled from the north and west diagonally across the planet.

Kolar

As the shuttle entered the storm, the presence of kelbonite made sensors unreliable, however, the shuttle was able to avoid an all out crash as the shuttle descended slowly and touched ground without incident.

GM

MIrri set the shuttle down and shut down the engines. “We’re here folks. ”

Helm

“We are where we need to be, but we haven’t figured out the why.” Kolar scanned the area first with the ship board sensors and then with the hand tricorder before making any decisions. The signal could be anywhere nearby and under any number of influences beyond the known which is the sand storm.

“Lets do a quick hail, maybe we’ll get an answer.”

He had hoped that the sand storm would have completely passed by time they had landed but it lasted longer than he expected… well his was a science officer not a meteorologist. “We are going to need to suit up.” He said disappointedly. It would take a few minutes and that would be enough time for the data to come in from the sensors.

Kolar

Michael was at ops. “This storm may drive a hail into the useless category. Like our sensors. But we can try it. =/\=Any vessel within range, if you can hear us, this is a Federation shuttlecraft from the USS Brian A. Olinski. Please respond if you can.=/\= He waited for a reply.
