Sapper’s physical in sickbay was fairly routine: scanned with a medical tricorder, asked about family histories of medical complications, then asked about recent interstellar travel. All routine questions; all routine answers. But it was procedure. And Sapper was glad to have it over with.

Now he could focus on something more meaningful: his job.

It was a little past 1230 hours when Sapper stepped into the hangar bay. While he had planned on meeting with Lieutenant Primage- Sehlat- here for a tour at 1100 hours, the physical was quite thorough, and as a result, took longer. Still, he hoped the Lieutenant would be understanding.

Not immediately seeing her, he went to the closest berth, and ran a simple level three diagnostic on the fighter’s drive system. It’s regular maintenance, but can easily be overlook.

-Sapper

OOC: If Xandra wants to step in, still welcome to.

IC:
“You the new flight crew?” Ael said from behind.

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)

“Yes…well, no, Lieutenant”, Sapper answer, stepping out from behind the fighter. “Ensign Stratto”, he offered, “but please call me Sapper. I’m new to the Olinski, but not officially assigned as a member of the flight crew. Just an engineering grunt looking to be useful anywhere. I just recently came aboard, and haven’t even reported to the Chief yet- not due until tomorrow. So I thought I’d come by and do some minor maintenance.”

The computer chimed, indicating that the level three diagnostic was complete. “Of course, since I haven’t reported in, I’m only limited to level three diagnostic tests. I was wondering if you would enter your authorization for a level two on the heuristic targeting system”, Sapper asked, showing Lieutenant Khev the results of the level two diagnostic, and the targeting system with an unexplained 0.02% variance.

-Sapper

“Trade you.” Ael offered. “My cutlass has been pulling left the last couple days. Check that out, and I’ll authorise whatever you need to do.” He tapped in his code for Sapper’s current work. “Good to meet you Sapper, you can call me Apex if you like. Ael if you don’t mind Romulan names.”

-Lt Ael Khev, Apex (Red Squad Leader)
