The doors to the ready room hissed open as Jason and Kolar entered continuing a conversation they had begun elsewhere. “But in the meantime I want to know the locations of the people who have become paralyzed,” Jason was saying in his ‘officer voice’. “I want to know if there’s any chance they were in contact with each other, or with anyone who’s been aboard the Sierra. If they weren’t, that tells something and we can stop making assumptions.”

Jason Harn, aCO attempting to break up the long threads to make it easier to go back and reread what happened in an earlier scene

That was a simple enough process. Kolar put a three dimensional map of the ship up on the main screen. Placing a red dot where each case was first located and they looked for a pattern.

Rather than going back to either the CO’s or XO’s chair, Jason walked over to Toro’s console. “How’s the Sierra?” he asked her. “Any change since we left the bridge?”

“Still on course for the Starbase.” She said “I have Mirri matching course and speed and she will notify us of anything weird going on.” Toro said

Jason Harn, aCO, STILL attempting to break up the long threads to make it easier to go back and reread what happened in an earlier scene

There was not enough data for the computer to come up with a pattern for Kolar. There were a group of dots on a planet and another group of dots on the Olinski. There were other single dots on the possible linked cases some decades ago, but there was no discernible pattern.

The Sierra, on the other hand had come to a full stop about 40 million kilometres from the Starbase. About three minutes after she came to a stop, she hailed the Olinski.

GM

“Interesting… why did she come to a full stop.” Kolar tapped a few keys. “She’s hailing us.”

Kolar

“On screen,” Jason replied as he became the poster child of being alert.

Jason Harn, aCO

The CO of the Sierra came on screen. =/\=Captain Whitney here. We have contacted Starbase 88 where we were to go and they have advised us that we should come to a full stop and stay at this point for 24 hours before reporting whether we have discovered any cases of this illness. At the moment we do not have any case of people collapsing on our ship. How is it so far over at your side?=/\=

GM

“We can’t find a pattern but at least the number of reported cases hasn’t increased in the meantime, Captain,” Jason shrugged. “Let’s hope that the problem is ours and that we’re delaying you unnecessarily. In the meantime we should take this opportunity for roll call and make sure that we didn’t leave anybody behind on that planet. If a name is missing it could shed some light.”

Jason didn’t think a name would be missing, but if somebody was it could be a clue

Jason Harn, aCO who wants to gather more data before playing a hunch

Toro looked at Harn “We can contact the starbase and confirm the orders.” She said.

CIO

“I’ll hail them on security frequency 9.” Kolar offered.

Mirri came to a full stop as the Sierra did. She wondered what the situation was. She opened a channel to the Olinski =^=Lawerance to Olinski. What are your orders?=^= She asked.

Helm

=^=Return to the Olinski, Lawrance,=^= Jason replied. =^=But just be warned, we’ve got a contagion onboard and we don’t know how it spreads, so contact Sick Bay before leaving the shuttle. Doolittle can decide what quarantine procedures are in order. Olinski out.=^=

Jason Harn, aCO
=^=Aye Commander.=^= Mirri said as she turned the Shuttle to meet the Olinski. A few minutes later she requested permission to dock in the shuttle bay and then contacted Dr. Doolittle.

Kolar

The starbase returned the hail and confirmed what the Sierra had reported.

GM

After Jason had thanked the starbase communications officer and ended the call he walked back the CO’s seat and got back to business. “Let’s get those cases back on the main screen,” Jason suggested. “Notice anything strange about them? Look at them, there’s no link between where the cases flare up. Not from contact, not from the ventilation system, if it was a malfunctioning food replicator or the water there’d be clusters and a lot more of them. Is it possible that something or someone could be attacking our people on purpose?”

Jason Harn, aCO, changing his post to get the bridge thread moving again

“The computer can be programmed to search for such links and many others.” Kolar started tapping the search parameters… and widened them. “I will execute that.” He pressed the final key. He then looked back to the screen. He didn’t see anything…

Kolar

The display showed that except for the cases mentioned before, there were no other incidences that occurred. While there were fatalities, there were also those who lived with the people who died who did not seem to have been affected at all. As the search parameters widened, there were a few more connections. However, the connections could be explained away by other factors and the malaise came back to the same three instances: the one the remote past, the recent occurrence and the situation on board the Olinski. There was one connection between the latter two situations. There were individuals with Napean DNA present. The older incident did not involve any Napeans.

GM
Helm

“What does the most recent occurrance and the situation on the Olinski? With the people affected here, did they have any sort of contact with the people on the planet?” She asked outloud “We can rule out a Napean link.” She said “We don’t have that currently.” She said as she pulled up the details of the most recent outbreak that was not on the Olinski. Did any of the people that fell ill on the ship come in contact with the others?”
