Alexandra disembarked from her shuttle and nodded to the pilot. She was due for a change after a long stay on the USS Breckinridge. This was different from that old cargo ship. A combat vessel, perfect for an officer of her training to advance. Often though Alexandra had been told ambition would be her downfall, she had yet to stop reaching for her command. Adjusting her uniform tunic, she got into the turbolift.

Making her way to the Captain’s ready room took Alexandra past the bridge. Past the Captain’s chair. It was hard not to daydream sometimes. She pressed the chime and waited calmly.

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

Captain Parker had been waiting for the new CoS to arrive. Admittingly he was more excited to meet the new CoS than many department heads. It was after all where he came from and the route that took him to command the Nimitz Class Entente which would later be recommissioned as the Olinski Class Brian Olinski. He gave his usual “Enter” command. Which was a strong and sometimes intimidating command. Many a young officer hesitated upon that bark.

The door hissed open and Alexandra stepped briskly through. “Lieutenant Alexandra Drake reporting for duty.” She seemed confident.

“My service record.” Alexandra held out a PaDD with her complete record since the Academy.

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

The Captain rose and took the PaDD. He sat it down on his desk and indicated with his hand for her to take a seat. He already had seen her whole record previous to her arrival but knew this was protocol and he liked a DH who observed protocol.

Alexandra sat. Everything she noticed about Captain Parker said he was a security officer by training as well.

“A good trip to the SB?” He asked since they were docked at this time.

“Uneventful, sir.” A true statement, the shuttle ride had been, if anything, too quiet.

“What do you think of the Olinski?” He then asked.

Parker CO

“She’s a fine ship Captain. And quite the dream for whoever is standing at the tactical station.” Alexandra said with a slight smile.

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

“Well here we have a CIO, who used to be the Tac officer. So those stations are yours but you might have to remind Lt. Turcio of that from time to time.” He informed. “Your main duties are ships security and away team security. The Olinski is the spearhead for Fleet 5. We tend to be involved in missions that can lead to combat. Are your ready for that?”

Parker CO

“Yes sir, I am. I understand the challenges and accepted the risks when I joined Starfleet. Wherever our missions may take us, I’ll be ready.”

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

“Well tell me your experiences Lt. What makes you the best CoS for the Olinksi?” He asked.

Parker CO

It only took a second for Alexandra to respond. “By description of the vessel itself, I served as CoS on a cargo vessel last. Which might seem incompatible with a combat ship, but we operated carrying anything Starfleet wanted moved quickly and securely. She wasn’t a combat vessel, but we had to make it work anyway. I think that coming from a place where you have to get creative to stay safe, it’s good preparation for handling something bigger.”

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

“What’s your leadership experience? Your going to be in charge of a lot of people now.” Sid asked. She might have gotten the assignment but he decided if she got the job.

Alexandra was coming from a small, but larger than might be expected staff. “I previously had 75 Security Personnel on my staff. I had all the standard responsibilities of creating a duty roster and shift rotation, as well as managing the cargo holds, which needed to have personnel in them at all times per regulations.” She paused. “It took time to learn how to balance everything. Learn when to let go and when to hold on tighter. But with having learned similar lessons on another ship, I’m confident that I can adapt.”

-Lt Alexandra Drake, CoS

” I am sure you will Lt. Just pay special attention to your tactical training and that station. Get with Lt. Turcio on that.” He answered. “I look forward to your service on the Olinski and if you have any concerns take them up with the XO or myself. Always and open door to talk.”
