“Let’s walk a bit to stimulate our appetite. I haven’t been much of anywhere, so feel free to lead where you think, Chief.” he said with a grin as they walked. He rolled his large shoulders and twisted his head sideways in a back and forth motion. “I tell ya, sitting at a desk is hell on your flexibility.” and he chuckled.

Sinclair, CNS

The woman nodded and smiled. “Ok, a walk it is.” As he spoke of being stiff, she had an idea. “Call me Sha. It’s less troublesome than Chief and easier than my full name.”

“You got it, Sha.”

As they hit one of the intersections, she motioned where they were going. When they got to the turbolift, she waited for him to follow her in, and tapped 18 on the palm pad. “So sitting at your desk is a hard thing? I think I can help with that. But I admit, you won’t get to know many folks on the ship. But we’ll see plenty of them at lunch. I won’t monopolize you ‘all day’.” She smiled and winked at him as the lift made its way to the desired deck.

Sinclair chuckled. “I wouldn’t say it’s a hard thing to do, but I am still used to a lot more movement in my duties.” he said with a smile. “And I am getting to know people, I suppose. Just not in an ‘informal’ fashion, so to speak.” He looked as she hit the deck request. “18? Antimatter Generator and Storage bay, right? I mean, I tried to learn the layout before I boarded.” and he looked at his tour guide. “You aren’t showing me where you hide the bodies of those who displease you, are you?” he said with a wry grin.

Sinclair, CNS

She laughed. “I didn’t really mean that it was hard to sit there, but more that it was hard to not be more active, if that’s what you are used to.” She raised an eyebrow in surprise as he mentioned the deck locations. “I am impressed. Good to know you won’t be lost, too often anyway.”

When the lift opened and she stepped out, she shook her head and wagged her finger at him. “No, Sir. I don’t show body storage sites on a first date.” She laughed and headed to the storage bay.

Sha moved to the bay and palmed the door. Moving inside the nearly 100 square foot room, he would see it was relatively empty save for about two dozen crates taking up two corners like they had been purposefully stacked there to make the rest of the space empty. She moved to a small crate in the corner and opened it up. There were a few Klingon marks on it and her own name and rank as well. “Come see,” she beckoned to him to see what was in the crate. There were several others in there. Most had crewman’s names on them. A couple looked to be just general supplies. Inside the crate she had opened were a couple work out style mats, a couple blankets and pillows and several packs of energy rations. Below those was a box that took up perhaps a quarter of the crate. It had Klingon characters on it, and a House Seal. “This isn’t a secured or off limits location to senior personnel. You are welcome to come down here any time you want a moment to relax, or even meditate. This is one of the most silent places on the ship as far as resonance goes as well. So even noise most folks can’t hear, but apparently, I’m told, can still affect us, are the most dull in here.”

She smiled and waited to see what his reaction would be. She wasn’t sure if he was the meditative and work out type, but if he was, perhaps it was something else they had in common. “It’s also a good place to spar if you want privacy or use weapons or styles that aren’t exactly ‘accepted’ by the masses.” She laughed and stepped back to lean on the wall.

Sinclair looked into the crate and nodded approvingly. “My tlhlngan Hol is still coming along, but that is a House seal, is it not?” he asked and pointed at the case on the bottom and then looked at Sha. “You family?”

Sinclair, CNS

His pronunciation of her paternal tongue made Sha glance up and smile in surprise and appreciation. “It may be ‘coming along’ but your pronunciation isn’t horrible.” She reached down and lifted out the box. She paused a moment then opened it. Inside was a bat’leth. It had the same crest on it that was on the box, laser etched into the metal. It looked old, but was extremely well maintained. “It was my father’s. But I never went thru the trials, so technically I cannot have it on my wall. It’s why my personal one is on the wall of my quarters and this one is here.” The black velvet lining was also old, but it was in good condition in the metal box with the etched and painted crest on its cover.
