DaVinci looked out over the Caribbean waters and smiled. The smile slowly began to fade as his mind drifted back to the last time he was in the Caribbean. It was a mission during the Eugenics War. He and his squad where trying to root out one of Khan’s Augments that had set up shop in the island paradise.

He shook his head to clear the thoughts away. Why was he thinking of that now. It was over a long time ago, and now he was here with an incredibly, sexy woman whose conversations were filled with as much innuendo as his own. The here and now should be his focus. . .

Colter (CIO)

“What is her name,” Kavia said softly but in an inquisitive tone. The place was too beautiful to be just any place. If she understood how holodecks operate based on Colter’s brief explanation of how it worked, the program had to be inputted by its user. The deduction was simple. This place held a special place in DaVinci’s mind. She never asked if the man next to her was single or not. She had assumed it was so based on his flirtatious comebacks and witty retorts from her sultry comments. Part of her worked not to frown. There was no reason to think Colter was going to be anything more than a man she had met on her travels here; however, the possibility that anything could be had pressed her to test the waters with him. The far-off look on his face told Kavia that for the first time since they had met, his mind was not on hers.

“Hmm?? Oh, I’m terribly sorry, Kavia. I haven’t been to this area of Earth in more than 400 years, and the last time I was here, the company and reasons were definitely not enjoyable. It was a covert ops mission. And, though it was an idyllic paradise like this, there were some very serious dangers hiding in the jungle. My job was to contain those dangers.”

He took her by the hand and began to stroll along the beach. He serious face turned into a devilish grin. “There never was a ‘her’ in my life. At least not a serious ‘her’. My job kept me way too busy to develop any kind of serious commitment or lasting relationships. My career in covert ops also made it virtually impossible to develop a trusting relationship. Secrecy, flying off at a moment’s notice to some hot spot around the world, not knowing when I’d return home, or even IF I’d return home. . . . . .it would have been difficult.”

“What about you? Is there a special ‘him’ where you come from. He must be very trusting to let such a beautiful, interesting woman gallivant across the universes on her own?”

“He was but he died,” she said in a neutral tone. “His name was Aloysius but I called him Al. We were very young even by my people’s standards. He was a construction worker. Things were going great. He was promoted after a year to the foreman on a project. Everything was going perfectly until he called one night and said he was going to be late. Later tuned out to mean he never came home. I thought he might have just fallen asleep at the office which he had been known to do. So I got up early, picked up breakfast and showed up at the site.” Kavia’s face was not twisted in grief but held an expression of almost disbelief as she told the story. It was apparent she liked the guy because her tone had an affectionate quality to them yet she was not crying or appeared ready to cry.

“When I got there the project manager pulled me aside. It turns out Al was in an accident. That day they poured a fast setting concrete mixture for the foundation. Al had decided to write mine and his names in the wet cement only the foundation was poured extra deep to handle the weight of the building. He was leaning over really far to write our names in a corner nook and fell in head first. He sunk like a stone but must have tried to push up like a handstand,” Kavia raised her hands to demonstrate as if Colter needed a visual. “By the time they found him in the morning the cement had set but only his calves and feet were out of the cement. It was just one of those bizarre things that happen....ya’ know,” she looked at Colter for some reaction hoping it was not abject horror.

DaVinci remained silent as he imagined the tought of dying like that.

“oh. . . . .wow. I can’t imagine. . .what a horrible way to to go. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring up such a tragic memory.

They began walking along the beach in a bit more of a somber mood. “I guess that just goes to prove that you can’t take anything for granted. You can’t let special moments pass you by. Sometimes you have grab the bull by the horns, hang on, and just enjoy the ride to the fullest.

He stopped walking and grabbed Kavia’s hand to stop her as well. “When I go, I don’t want to have any regrets. And right now, the only regret I’ll have is if I don’t do this. . . . ” Pulling her closer, DaVinci wrapped his strong arns around her a pulled her close. Between the sun, temperature and heat between them, DaVinci didn’t hesitate to lean down and kiss her passionately, holding her tightly, yet gently at the same time. . . .

Kavia stiffened at first and looked down her nose as Colter’s lips touched hers. It was not that she wasn’t receptive to the idea. Kavia was more than receptive. She was just a bit shocked she did not beat him to the punch. She slowly closed her eyes and let the moment move from utter surprise to something soft, warm, and tender. For a big and imposing as Colter seemed, he was exceedingly soft and gentle where he needed to be. His kiss ranked high on Kavia’s approval scale. His touch on her lips as almost delicate yet the hands encircling her body had a hungry strength about them. As if Colter’s arms would hold her if suddenly her knees became weak. Nothing on her body was weak however. His kiss was doing the opposite however exciting things to the red line. As they broke for a breath of air she looked into Colter’s eyes and said in a sultry tone, “It appears you have the same ways of making one talk as we do.” Her comment was said in a rather strange tone indicating Kavia was imitating someone else but the grin on her face indicated it was entirely playful. “So do you want to play I’m the interrogator first or shall I?” Secretly she found this all rather funny. She had no inner schemes or plans and doubted Colter had any either but everyone on this ship probably thought they were playing the spy game instead of two people just making a connection.

Kavia

In the same playful tone Kavia spoke, DaVinci replied. “My interrogation methods will break you. They can be quite. . . . intense.”

He leaned in close once again and whispered in her ear, letting his hot breathe caress her neck and ear. “You will be begging, don’t. . . . .stop. . . . . .please . . . don’t. . . stop. . .please. . don’t. stop. .please don’t stop. . . .”
