She kept his gaze but did finally move her hands away from his. Her right fingers tapped on her thigh as she thought. “I suppose it would be particularly easy for me, because I’d have access to all the data without having to be in the labs or in Cartography.” Cori exhaled a half-sigh. “I do like science still, but it’s something I’d have to think over a bit before I made any decisions.”

Sinclair rested his hands and smiled at her. “Fair enough. And if you need help working through that decision, my door is open for you any time. But let me say, I think the idea has merit for you. So… and he stood up and went to the replicator and got a glass of water. Returning to his seat, he said “Well, now that we have the easy stuff behind us, whats the hard stuff?” and he chuckled.

Dalton just gave him a slightly wry grin.

He looked at Corinne and added “You have a lot to offer people, Corinne. Not just your mind; but your personality, your wit. Please don’t leave here today thinking that you are anything less than a wonderful person… who happens to be temporarily relocated.” and he turned and picked up a PaDD that sat on the desk. “One moment.” and tapped a few commands into the device.

“There. Officially deceased or not, Lieutenant Corinne Dalton is hereby marked as ‘Fit For Duty’ aboard the USS Saracen.” and he looked up at her. “I told you when you came in. As far as I’m concerned, you are still a Star Fleet officer and I am going to treat you as such.” and he smiled and winked. “But… I did put an order in your file for regular Counseling sessions. I’ll allow you the leeway to schedule those. Just mark my calendar for a weekly visit when you can be here. And don’t make me chase you down, Lieutenant. Because I’m not sure I actually could.” and he laughed.

Sinclair, CNS

That would be highly entertaining, even with my mobile emitter,” she said somewhat cheekily.

But then for a few moments she gazed at him deeply, her electric blue eyes deepening slightly. “Temporarily relocated… I’m going to have to remember that one, which of course I will,” she said with a shrug. But as nonchalant as she was trying to be, the corners of her mout couldn’t help but edge upwards.

Rising to her feet, she looked over her shoulder. “See you next week.”

Corinne left the office and while she might have ordinarily been tempted to just return her emitter to its charging dock and disappear back into the system, this time she simply went for a wander about the ship with no destination in mind.
