She set the box down with a slight shake of head, though the grin wasn’t going anywhere. She lifted her glass. “Thank you, Dante.” Her expression changed. “Is that allowed? Some commanding officers are prickly about first names, but since we’re out sharing a meal, it did feel appropriate.”

He nodded and clinked his glass gently against hers, “Perfectly fine believe me, the formality wears thin after a time and tends to push people apart. I like occasions like this being more casual, it shows my crew, Senior Officers at least, that I am just a person with thoughts, feelings and opinions, and a personality above what the Command Chair lets me reveal.” It also let Dante make connections, friendships with people that he had to trust and rely on every day, and them him. It was hard to trust an aloof Captain that appeared to stick to formal rigid authority, and he needed them to trust him when he made the hard calls.

“I never had any doubt,” Boja said sincerely. She had served with several different commanding officers and each brought their own

His grin had returned to a simple smile as he sipped his champagne. “There may have been some ulterior motive from this style of promotion instead of one in my ready Room. I wanted to get to know you better, especially after we had been on the Saracen so long when stuck over Earth and we didn’t have much time to get acquainted, and also to let you know that I respect your position as CMO and the way you stood your ground when I was with Natasha in Sickbay.” Dante put down his glass and began on his meal, looking at Boja’s plate to assess if what she had looked interesting.

The oskoid salad on the side was something people usually were of two minds of: they hated it, or found the texture of the dense leaves interesting enough to eat. The sap inside was the special part and addd a warmth that was quite pleasurable. She’d dig into the black bean dip and flatbread soon but the spices in the dip wafted, tempting her to take a quick bite.

“Well, Doctor-Patient confidentiality is one of the highest things I guard, even if the patient is a staff member and there are family members present.” Satreya just gazed at him and shrugged. “I was just doing my job,” she added before she smirked. “And I’ve had more aggressive commanding officers that I’ve faced down. Trust me, they didn’t get away with anything either.”
