Satreya listened attentively and simply nodded. For the moment it was a piece of additional information that required further data in order to put into perspective. “Okay, so we might be able to do more than that, but let’s get a look at where you are at currently first.”

Rather than reaching out towards the tray with the tricorder on it, Satreya simply lifted her hand and the tridcorder moved swiftly on its own from the tray into her hands. Wrapping her fingers arounf the device, she opened it, grabbed the scanning bud and began to attentively take a reading of O’Shea.

OOC: Scan results, please?

Boja, CMO

OOC: Nothing extravagant. :) Scans would reveal aggravation and inflammation around the vertabrae of the cervical region (if deep enough: C1-C4), as well as the lumber and sacrum (if deep enough: L3-S2). Which would be simply signs of the arthritis previously explained. As for the fracture itself, it would show the faintest remains of a clean fracture in her cervical region (C3 and C4, specifically). Fairly normal readings for an arthritic patient.

IC: Elmira had become accustomed to the aggravating pain that nagged at her neck and lower spine, in its continuous attack, usually relieved to tolerance by painkillers. Although, the prospect of being able to possibly eliminate or at least greatly reduce the pain from the arthritis, mostly caused from her own stupidity, was a chance she was willing to take.

Staying still, which wasn’t exactly easy for her, Elmira waited to hear what the doctor had to say. She had heard, previously, where the arthritis was most prevalent, but the numbers never really stuck with her, too many Cs and Ls and esses for her own liking.

Satreya finished the scan and set the tricorder to the side for the moment. She regarded Elmira critically, as if trying to decide something. “Would you mind if I do a physical examination of your neck? I want to test out a couple things before we discuss your situation further.”

Boja, CMO

The moment she saw that face, she knew there was going to be trouble. Either the doctor had discovered something very wrong, or she was in for a longer visit. Ah.. there it was. “Of course,” Elmira remarked, trying to sound chipper than she felt about it. “Go right ahead.”

“Okay, if you unzip your jacket, I’m just going to press in specific areas. If anything feels tender, let me know.” She didn’t need to say she’d also feel Elmira’s pain, since that was likely obvious.

“All right,” Elmira unzipped her jacket to make it easier for the good doctor. Knowing it was futile to lie to an empath, she closed her eyes, waiting for her to hit a tender area.

Moving around the other side of the biobed, Satreya reached out and pressed with two fingertips along the neck vertebrae that were showing the irritation. She’d first press directly on the vertebra and then clockwise in a circle around them. Moving slowly, she made a note of any pain mentioned or felt.

Boja, CMO

Whenever Boja’s fingertips met the middle of the vertabrae, she seemed to cringe in mild pain. Each time, she would mention that area, and find the tenderness grew calmer the further she got from those points.
