Dante dropped his hands and looked at Gavain and Boja questioningly. “That doesn’t sound like a common thing” he said to them quietly, “I wonder why they appear now, in the presence of outsiders? Lieutenant” he said looking at his Chief of Ops, “have they ever revealed any power or abilities that could place people or ships in danger? Or performed any miracles for that matter?”

Captain Knight, CO

Gavain was speechless. The entire room was silent for several moments before it erupted in conversations. “It has happened before, there are records of the gods appearing to large groups of people. I’ve had visions of one or more of the gods. People I know have seen them…” He took a deep breath. “I’m not certain on their exact level of power. Perhaps they have the ability to put people in danger, just as humans have the ability to put the lives of mice in danger. But, to my knowledge, they have never done anything of that sort. Miracles, certainly. Anything inexplicable can be said to be a miracle,” he reflected quietly.

Gavain, COO

At least there was enough other conversations going on that people weren’t focused on their guests at the moment. Satreya pushed her chair back quietly, trying to ignore her rather high heart rate. “If you’ll excuse me, I just need a moment of air,” she said politely.

Slipping away from the table, Boja looked around briefly and headed for the door they had entered in earlier.

Boja, CMO

Gavain watched her go, then glanced around at the other Starfleet officers that were here from all the other ships. There was a lot of conversation going on right now.

Gavain, COO

Dante also watched Boja head for the door and frowned slightly, then looked back at Gavain. “Perhaps you should check with your people what they wish to happen now, it certainly seems to have created quite a buzz. I’m going to check on Boja, we’ll be back shortly. Come and find us if you need to Lieutenant.”

Standing, Dante nodded at the people beside him and then followed Boja out the door, pausing as he exited to look around for the doctor.

Captain Knight, CO

It wouldn’t do to get herself lost, so as much as she wandered, she simply had meandered a bit from the entrance seeking some peace and quiet from the din of the room. Arms wrapped around herself as she moved slowly, her body language shifted slightly as he stepped out into the hall. She knew he was there.

“I’m fine, Dante,” she said softly. “Weird events sometimes just need some air.”

Boja, CMO

Gavain nodded, stepping away from his place at the table and making his way over to the area where the Controllers were standing and discussing what had happened.

He saw that they were quite deep in discussion and pulled away, not wanting to interrupt too badly.

After a while, the room calmed down, and the leaders spoke. “We apologize for the interruption, honoured guests. We have decided that no further action will be taken at the moment, and the planned festivities will continue. Please, enjoy your meal!”

Gavain

Hearing a change in the volume of the room that indicated that someone was addressing them at large, Dante looked back to Boja. “That was more than weird, it was both enlightening and concerning at the same time. You know you can talk to me if you need to, right doctor? This confidentiality business goes both ways. Unless I need to torpedo someone for you.”

Dante smiled, softly to let Boja know he was there if she needed him. “I’m going to head back inside, before one of their gods gets cold feet and thinks I really am loading the torpedo’s. Join me when you are ready doctor.” He nodded to Boja and placed a hand on her arm gently, then turned and made his way back to the tables and his seat, looking for Gavain.

Captain Knight, CO

Gavain noticed the Captain coming back over and waved slightly. He had filled his plate to the brim with delicious food and was getting ready to chomp down on the feast. It was piled with what looked like roasted meat, but each small slab of meat had a cooked green or yellow rind wrapped around it that seemed to be bonded to the meat. Gavain ate the meat somewhat like one might eat a small watermelon, cutting off the rind and popping chunks of the tender ‘meat’ into his mouth.
