Admiral Hermann sat behind his desk at Starfleet Command. His desk was an old-fashioned walnut monstrosity that had been handed down in his family from before the third world war. He sat back from it though, turned in his chair so he could look out of the floor to ceiling window that overlooked the Academy. The perpetual fog of San Francisco wisped passed his window this day as he waited.
Finally, the communicator on his desk chimed and the voice of his aide, Kenneth came over it.
=^=Admiral, sir? I have made the uplink to the USS Saracen. Are you ready, sir? =^=
A moment passed before the Admiral spun in his chair and tapped the button that would cause the screen inset in his desk to raise up.
=^=Put it through here, Ensign. =^= The Admiral said as he sat back and looked at the Starfleet logo on his screen as he waited for the Saracen to answer.
