She had started to cut into her mushroom quiche and the pastry proved golden and flaky- just the way it was supposed to be. The oskoid salad on the side was something people usually were of two minds of: they hated it, or found the texture of the dense leaves interesting enough to eat. The sap inside was the special part and added a warmth that was quite pleasurable. She’d dig into the black bean dip and flatbread soon but the spices in the dip wafted, tempting her to take a quick bite.

“Well, Doctor-Patient confidentiality is one of the highest things I guard, even if the patient is a staff member and there are family members present.” Satreya just gazed at him and shrugged. “I was just doing my job,” she added before she smirked. “And I’ve had more aggressive commanding officers that I’ve faced down. Trust me, they didn’t get away with anything either.”

“Good,” Dante said, at about the same time he took a mouthful of food and chewed until it was manageable enough to swallow. “Never give a CO an inch, they tend to take liberty’s with it, trust me.”

“Oh, I know,” Boja said with a nod and a smile.

Dante continued to eat, and while Boja was the one with the high metabolism and needed large quantities of food, Dante was the one with the Italian appetite. He wasn’t shy about being hungry, or eating and enjoying his food. Especially when paired with Champagne. It also made conversations that might be a little more formal in his office, more casual and relaxed, easier to discuss. “Lieutenant Graham and yourself,” he opened the next topic, “have you been a couple long?”

Captain Knight, CO

The question actually caught her off guard and Satreya had to recover slightly. “Oh, uh… I guess it has been awhile now.” Her expression shifted into a warm smile. “Certainly wasn’t expected and definitely not planned. But sometimes you meet just the right person at just the right time.” She sipped from her wine glass.

“I’m not a person easily surprised, as you can imagine. And yet he can, quite often. It’s… welcome. I’m just going along and enjoying it,” she said openly.

“You and Natasha have been together a long time, haven’t you?” she asked.
