Avoiding the things she had been told were meat, Satreya adopted a fairly neutral expression as she dug into her meal. But her eyes cast their way around the room, taking in the overall mood but also any of the emotional spikes. There was a definite energy here which would make sense given the connection the different species of Galdor had to the planet, but intrigued her nonetheless.

“What happens after such an appearance?” Boja asked Gavain curiously.

Boja, CMO

“Such an appearance isn’t a common occurrence,” Gavain admitted. “I’ve never heard the gods speak in front of a gathering before. But, we don’t let it interrupt the proceedings. We still put in the effort to make this meal, no reason to waste it. So we eat,” he shrugged.

“It looks like everyone gets really hungry.” Dante said while constructing some kind of hamburger looking thing out of a number of meats, cheeses and breads he had found, none of them looking like human food. “Are there any kinds of specific celebrations that take place?”

Captain Knight, CO

“We have many celebrations that take place at different points of the year,” he said, listing off a few words in an alien language. “The Raka are especially heavy in celebrations - it is difficult to find a week in their calendar that does not include a feast or festival of some sort…” he chuckled.

Gavain

“My kind of people,” Statreya commented in between bites. In truth, despite how unsettled she was about the whole ‘appearance’, she and her naturally high metabolism required a great deal of food, so this sort of feast was a perfect opportunity to eat whatever she wanted and not draw odd looks.

“Anything else that we should expect to happen during this dinner?”

Boja, CMO

“Unless something unexpected happens, nothing else is planned until the meal is over. This entire event is a celebration of Galdor joining the Federation, so we will be doing a few more things. You will be given a tour of the facilities on the Skybase, then taken to the surface to the actual festival in the Capital City. There will be performances, parades, vendors with wares to sell - you will be provided with a small amount of credit, funded by the trade Galdor has been able to do with the other worlds of the Federation. At the end of the day, there will be a boxed lightning show, which I am quite excited about. We will be sent back to our ships for the night, then we will be taken to a variety of different locations - you will be given a tour of the wonders of the modern world,” he explained to Boja with a small smile.

Gavain, COO

OOC: Unless you folks really want to play through the entirety of this celebration, we can fast-forward through bits of it and just take detailed looks at little parts of it. I can have the whole thing go off without a hitch and just use the whole thing for world building, or if the two of you want more excitement, feel free to tell me and I’ll come up with some sort of conflict to throw into the mix!

  • Miriam

OOC: I’m quite happy to run with whatever we do, excitement is always fun! Also, if any newer crew members feel like joining in, please feel free to simply post as if you were always here or arriving at any point, you’re all welcome.

IC: “The modern world?” Dante asked curiously, “From what we saw from orbit, most of Galdor still seems to be forest and jungle. I’d be interested to see some of this modern world.” As he spoke, he speared a piece of meat that he couldn’t identify and sniffed it cautiously.

Captain Knight, CO

“Captain, the human tendency to wipe out nature in pursuit of modernity is not shared across all planets,” Gavain seemed to scold Knight for a moment. “Instead of pushing nature back in our quest for a better life, we utilized the tools that nature gives us. You will notice upon further inspection that in many of the forests on the continent of the Raka, the trees are massively larger than they should be given the gravity of our planet, and house entire cities within their canopies. In the land of the Arwan, you will see the savannahs and plains where our herbivorous neighbours planted their roots. You will see plants grown within the confines of nature’s boundaries, utilizing nature’s systems to maintain the health of the soil and the ecosystem whilst providing enough food for the people. We purposely avoided the idea of monocultures,” he explained.

Gavain

“Humans have learned from our past,” Dante said as he cut a small piece of meat and tried it. “For example our colonies now, while they aren’t designed to the extent of your peoples relationship with nature they are built to sustain the environment. Deneva is a perfect example of that, a modern world built around and integrated with the natural landscape, not made to take it over but work alongside.” He chewed and continued his meal, “unfortunately, it did take us far too long to reach that point for Earth in many ways.”
