It was the one thing she really hadn’t ever thought of or told anyone, but the simple fact was that Cori hadn’t set foot in a science lab since her “accident”. Days prior to that, one of her android colleagues had momentarily held her hostage in a bizarre sort of incident.

So it probably shouldn’t have been surprising to her that she felt trepidation as she walked to the office of the Chief Science Officer. She didn’t know Teller Graham at all except that he had been involved with their CMO who had just left the ship. Dalton had known Boja well enough given that she popped in and out of the woman’s medical bay on a regular basis, but she wasn’t sure how Graham would be handling Satreya’s decision to go back to her home universe. It also meant that she didn’t know what sort of mood he would be in and how he would recieve not only Cori herself but her request.

Well, we’re about to find out, she thought as she pressed the chime. Cori glanced over her science uniform with its two full pips on the collar and unnecessary brushed away creases that didn’t exist. She was a holographic projection of herself, after all. Still, the action was calming as she waited.

“Door Open,” Teller had set alert words to each of the computer controlled systems in his office and quarters. It was a slight phobia of his that he would accidentally say something and his door would open the computer would record or some other embarrassing thing would occur. Computers were wonderful tools, but they could be overly literal.

Teller glanced at who was behind the door. “Lieutenant Dalton.” They had awarded the ship computer a rank. It was possible that system was sentient - he wasn’t certain yet. When in doubt it was always prudent to err on the side of awarding more rights to a creature not fewer. In that case you never diminish a entity…

“Are you lost?”

Striding in, her brows lifted as she quirked a slight smirk. “I don’t think that would technically be possible on this ship, actually, but no, I was hoping to have a few moments of your time.”

Teller chuckled. “I suppose that’s true.”

It was, in most cases, better to simply get to the point, and so Cori did as she stood before his desk. “It was suggested by the counsellor, that I might look at pursuing some sort of work outside of my… unique existence. While I can and will help the crew with matters of the ship’s systems, it’s… not very fulfilling. I was a scientist before and I think I’d like to work in that realm again, see what things intrigue me.” Her all-too vibrant eyes assessed Teller as she spoke, knowing, like many he was on the fence about her sentience, even if she had been a fully flesh and blood being assigned to the ship.

“You have interest in the sciences?” Teller asked the tone indicating that the question wasn’t quite as simple as it sounded.

“I would think that it would be more ‘explorative’ if you worked in a more creative field,” He paused as he tried to think of some programs like that. The only role he could come up with was cooking.
