Having stowed his bag in his new quarters, James made his way back to engineering, tool case hanging from one shoulder. He steered through main engineering and eventually stood at the CE’s office door. He pressed the chime and waited.

Jarred paused, he wasn’t sure who and tried to think if he was expecting anyone “Enter” he said, he doubted it was Kalani, couldn’t be his daughter so it must be a crewman.

When the doors parted, James stepped into the office and straightened. “Sorry to bother you, Sir. I just came aboard. Ensign Franklin, reporting for duty.” There was a twang in his speech that bespoke origins in the southern portion of North America on Earth. He was a little older than the standard ensign, though not much. He had sandy colored hair which would’ve curled had he let it get long enough, and had blue eyes. James was stout but not overweight, built like a linebacker, or a farm hand.

“Welcome aboard Ensign, please come in have a seat.” Jarred said, his desk open Jarred waited as the man came farther in. Jarred’s office seemed to have a mix of items, to the immediate right of the door was a small sitting area, to the left cabinets and shelves, filled with items from his life. There was pictures of family, artifacts from his missions and other items he had collected. Directly behind Jarred there was a katana blade to his left, and to his right a small filing cabinet with white lilies and a picture of a woman of part Deunoblean heritage. She was blonde and blue eyes. The frame itself seemed mostly uncared for though, as if he had become a forgotten relic of the room.

“Thank you, Sir.” Franklin’s blue eyes took in the room and it’s homey atmosphere as he stepped inside. It was usually a good sign when the Chief’s office looked like it was fairly lived in. That set James at ease, at least a bit. However, he was still a bit on edge from his meeting with Sinclair. James sat where it had been indicated that he should sit, glancing from the blade on the wall to the picture of the Deunoblean woman, then back to Alindor. “I have to say, she’s a real beauty, the Saracen, Sir…”
