A gleam appeared in her eyes as she smiled. “Our Chief Engineer collaborated with various sources to try to come up with something that would work for my needs. It’s not as sleek and tiny as the other, but it does the trick. I mean, after all, no sentient being likes to be in isolation. Messes with your head rather badly.” She smirked. “Though, I do appreciate being able to change my clothing at will. It’s a fun little trick.” She was focused on him rather intently, watching for all he micro-reactions that would tell her how he was responding to her statements. She didn’t like going on the defensive, but her situation often required her to exercise caution as people got to know her.

He smiled appreciatively, glad that he hadn’t bored the poor woman out of her mind “Certainly. I’ve never really been known as a fashion icon, but growing up around Bolians does make one rather more of a closet hog. I’m still getting used to the idea that I can’t just use the ships material replicators whenever and for whatever. The curse of having spent so much time on planetary and space-based facilities. It’s likely going to take me quite a while to replicate something approximating my usual wardrobe selection. My own fault, I suppose. If I’d have researched it a little more thoroughly, I’d likely have brought a more varied selection with me. Tell me, Lieutenant, do you spend much time in the holodeck?”

Doctor Nathaniel Harrison (CMO)

“More than most people, for obvious reasons. A great place to play with your wardrobe,” she teased slightly. “It’s the only place outside of Sickbay where I can move about without my portable emitter.” Corinne leaned in slightly, a grin forming. “How much do you love a good holo-novel?”

He chuckled in an entirely unprofessional manner, a grin spreading across his face “Oh, my dear, I grew up on the Bolian homeworld. Holonovels are life – the spicier the better. My uncle Qhont is one of the premiere holo-novelists on Boliarus IX. If a decade surrounded by Bolians taught me one thing, it’s that nothing is quite so satisfying as a good holo-novel and a better drink.”

Doctor Nathaniel Harrison (CMO)

Her vibrant eyes sparkled with mirth. “Well, Doctor Harrison, I think we can let you stay,” she said, waving her hand in a feigned imperious manner.

“The holodeck is the one place I can at least pretend to eat and drink, so it’s nice to have that small part of life back,” Corinne said pragmatically. “And if you ever need someone to evaluate the quality of a given holonovel, I’m your gal.” It was one of things she hadn’t really ever told anyone, nor would they think to ask her, but with so little to actually do much of the time, Cori had sought something that amounted to excitement on the holodeck, where reality was more real than her actual life much of the time.
