After she’d reported to Cmdr Harrison–a huge and wonderful surprise to already know him, Maji contacted the ship’s computer and made an appointment for her psych eval the following morning. Sleep had come easily to her the night before, so she was rested and looking forward to the coming day as she stood outside Cmdr Sinclair’s office door.

Wondering what the meeting would accomplish for either one of them, she reached out and palmed the chime, wondering if she’d be allowed to have a cup of tea while they spoke.

OOC: Oops! So sorry I missed it!

IC: The door slid open to reveal a less harshly lit room with a desk in one corner, a chair facing away from it directly in front. That chair faced a seating area with two other chairs and a couch surrounding a small, low table on which sat a glass bowl filled with various colored semi-transparent beads. Each gave of a soft glow that lit the bowl slightly, but nothing else. On one wall was a low shelf containing books, PaDDs, and a few items interspersed between. Behind the desk was a tall set of glass shelves on which set various objects, most notable of them was a small glass display containing a medal: The Star Fleet Marine Corps Distinguished Service Cross.

Seated at the desk was a very muscular blonde haired human man with blonde hair cut in a regulation high and tight style. As the doors opened, he stood up and his height was far above average. Almost seven feet tall and with the frame of a Marine or Security officer more than a ship’s Counselor, Royal smiled a warm and welcoming smile and said “Hello. I am Lieutenant Commander Sinclair. What can I do for you?” His voice was pleasant, with a pronounced Scottish brogue.

Sinclair, CNS

Light, blue eyes scanned the room as soon as the doors opened. Counselors were a special breed as far as Maji was concerned. It took great patience and real compassion to sit and listen to people’s problems all day. She thought she would go crazy if she had to do it. The room was neat and decorated tastefully, but the man behind the desk was a surprise.

The doctor had already entered the office before Sinclair stood up. When he did, her mouth dropped open in astonishment. “You’re a giant!” Her tone was serious and somewhat awed, there was no teasing tone or disrespect in it. Snapping her mouth shut, Maji straightened her shoulders and recovered her composure quickly. “Excuse me, I mean you’re a giant, Sir.”

Sinclair laughed a bit and said “Yeah… I get that a lot. You shoulda seen my Dad. He was huge.” in a friendly manner, his brogue lending a warmth to his words. “Do come in and have a seat, Lieutenant. What can I do for you today?”

Lt. Cmdr. Sinclair, CNS

“I’m new on the Saracen and need a boarding psych evaluation, Sir. I’ve already reported in to my DH, but he can’t put me to work until you sign off on my mental health.” Maji took a seat across the desk from Sinclair.

“You are in luck. I just so happen to be able to do that.” the big man said with a warm smile. “After we chat for a bit, of course.”

Royal made his way around the desk and said “Do have a seat on the couch, Lieutenant. Those chairs are not the most comfortable.” and he stopped in front of the replicator. “Care for something to drink? I was about to get a cup of tea, myself.”

Sinclair, CNS

Maji moved onto the couch, as asked, and smiled, her blue eyes twinkling. “Oh, I’d love a cup of tea, Sir. I was just thinking that out in the corridor.” She had to be careful eating and drinking things that were exceptionally hot. Although it would take something near scalding to injure the sensitive gills on either side of her neck, she was still conscious about temperature—inside of her throat and outside of it.

Sinclair nodded and said “Any particular kind? I am partial to black currant and lemon, myself. An instructor at the Academy put me onto it.”

Sinclair, CNS

White eyebrows lifted with interest. “Ooooo, I haven’t had that kind before and aren’t familiar with black current. I’d like to try it, please.” Maji relaxed into the couch, thinking the counselor seemed easy going and hospitable. Perhaps the appointment would go well? It should—she didn’t have any dark secrets she was trying to hide.

Sinclair nodded and retrieved the two cups. Carrying them over to the low table, he at one down in front of her and then took a seat himself. “So tell me a bit about yourself, Lieutenant. Just anything that comes to mind.”

Sinclair, CNS

Maji lifted the cup of tea, testing the heat of the liquid as it seeped through the cup. Very, very warm! Resting it in her lap so it could cool a bit, she looked around the office again. “There’s nothing special to tell, Lt. I became a doctor because life interests me a great deal. After I complete my time with Star Fleet, I plan on returning to my home world to treat both the land and sea dwellers there. I’m currently running experiments in the lab to find ways to treat those who live most of their lives in the water. Because of the way evolution happened on my planet, most medicine is developed for land dwellers.”
