Having finally made it through the gauntlet of her physical and her psychological evaluation, Enina made her rumpled way to engineering. As she stepped through the doors, she breathed a large sigh of relief. One of the only places that she felt at home on a starship, despite spending her entire life on them, she was beyond thankful to finally be making her way here. For the first time, beyond some small adventures as a cadet, she was here as a Starfleet officer. That thought resulted in a slightly strained giggle at the absurdity of it, but well, she’d been contemplating the absurdity of a career in Starfleet since the moment she had spitefully enrolled in Starfleet Academy and, yet, here she was.

Shaking her head, she started to head in the direction of the Chief Engineer’s office, but quickly she got distracted wandering about, looking over the shoulders of the other crew members working on various tasks.

Ensign Nox, Eng

“Can I help you Ensign?” Jarred said, moving closer to the ensign he wondered who this new person was wandering in his main engineering.

Alindor, CE

Enina appeared to jump a foot, as she had been exclusively concentrating on peering over the shoulder of another junior officer as he reviewed ship status reports. She whirled around, being caught by surprise raising her adrenaline enough that she appeared almost angry. Her blue eyes flashed as she glared at this new person and then she remembered what she was actually supposed to be doing in engineering and looked almost meek.

“I’m looking for the Chief Engineer,” she finally responded.

Ensign Nox, Eng

“Well aren’t you in luck, you found him, and you would be Ensign…?” he said trailing as he waited for her to answer the question.

Alindor, CE

“Ensign Enina Nox, sir,” Enina responded, politely, although she was still clearly distracted by the junior officer and the console nearby her. Holding up her finger in a “one moment” signal, she stepped over and squeezed herself in beside the console, her hip scooting the other officer over just a bit, whether he was willing or not. Her fingers flew over the console for a few seconds and she murmured, “there, try that,” before turning around to lean against it and crossing her arms over her chest. “Oh, right, I’m reporting for duty,” she added as an afterthought.

Ensign Nox, Eng

A sharp sound began to sound from the console behind them that Ensign Nox had just been at, the sound began to wail as he looked at the other Ensign. “Out of the way.” he said as he began to run pushing the ensign aside as the console sparked as a electrical discharge went out and smoked as the console began to catch on fire. Moving off from the Ensign Commander Alindor began to help them up as he looked over at Enina.

“What the devil did you input?” he asked sternly as he looked at her, it was in almost all ways not her fault if he looked into the logs. Freak accidents could happen and Engineering was a prime location, but he couldn’t help but feel a spark of anger, even if injustice centered, at the Ensign as he stared at her. “I gotta say if you wanna make good impressions try not to kill my crew.” he snapped as the fire suppression system kicked in as two other crewmen took the Ensign aside to look over him.

“Lieutenant Harper…” Jarred called out as one of the senior staff came over as the silence began to become nearly deafening in Engineering as everyone looked over at the scene. “Figure out what happened here, get a crew together replace the console and give me a report on this by end of shift.” Jarred said before looking back over at Ensign Nox.

“As for you, my office now.” he said as he nodded for her to follow as he began to move to the center area his office was located at within Main Engineering.

Alindor, CE

Enina watched the events unfold with something akin to wide-eyed fascination, but internally, she berated herself. If she had just been a few moments faster or just done it for the ensign instead of trying to lead him on the right path, they wouldn’t have been in this situation at all and now she was in trouble. Again. Feeling Alindor’s anger and allowing it to feed at the knot in her stomach, she snapped back at him, “then maybe your crew member should know what he’s doing before he starts rerouting things wherever he wants.” Her hands balled into fists by her side, squeezing tightly in an attempt to channel her annoyance somewhere other than desperately wanting to punch both Alindor and the wayward ensign. Finally, she followed him toward his office, trailing significantly behind him and pointedly keeping her focus on anything but the CE.

As they entered his office, Enina stopped just inside the doorway, crossing her arms in front of her chest in what appeared to be her trademark stance. She remained silent and stared at Alindor, waiting for him to say something.
