“All radiation has effect on people,” He shrugged, “Sunlight has a positive effect on mood, but this seems to be effecting people like a drug. It has to be effecting brain waves or something really close to that. ” He tapped a few keys to start a search, one to determine if the radiation was having a resonance effect on brain waves and the second to see if there was a record of this effect in the science logs.

Izzy caught the look the CIO gave her, what was his problem?! She thought to herself, Couldn’t he see how busy she was just trying keep the ship from battering itself to pieces??

Maybe the brain wave radiation thing the science guy mentioned was affecting him? Making him paranoid?? Obviously it wouldn’t effect her, she was far too tough and smart for that!!! Maybe the CIO didn’t have her amazing mental fortitude and iron discipline though?!?

She resolved to keep an eye on him when she could spare it.

Izzy Gonzales- Helm

Izzy’s console beeped to notify her that they had reached the prescribed distance from the Pulsar and the dichromic nebula. Readings of the various radiations were at very high levels and according to Graham’s research it showed that there were radiations that could certainly affect organic beings both physiologically and mentally. The unknown radiation was not listed in the database though so any guess about it’s affects could only be postulated.

On the viewscreen the glowing Class 4 Pulsar and dichromic nebula spread out past the sides of the screen. It was truly a beautiful sight.

The signal that they had come for was not deep within the nebula but on its outer edges and appeared on Romani’s console and it had the signature of a probe. The epicenter of the probe was where the unknown radiation was the highest. It would appear that the radiation didn’t actually come from the nebula or Pulsar.

GM Nosferatu

OOC: Semi related, since I think it got lost in this thread, Sickbay did reply to the call from departments and he just needs someone to let him know there’s some hinky radiation, so we can start distributing a treatment. You’d likely be able to find the answer easier in the sickbay thread.

Andy

OCC: Sorry, I think I got it, correct me if I am wrong.

IC:=^=Bridge to Sickbay, We are encountering some radiation as we press forward into the nebula.” Threwn stated. =^=I’ll have science send you what they have.=^= He glanced over at the CSO and nodded.

Teller shrugged. He sent out the information, but he had already figured out the problem. He just didn’t have a solution.

=/\= Harrison this is the Captain =/\= Dante added to the call, =/\= Once you have a solution to the radiation, let us know. =/\=

=^= Aye, Captain. Sickbay out =^= came the distracted voice through the comm system
CMO

Adam watched at the pulsar came into view on the screen. “Where are those signals coming from?”

Izzy leant back in her chair, and while nonchalantly making minor adjustments to the thrusters to maintain their position with just one hand, she posted her feet up on the nearby rail, a picture of relaxation. The rest of the crew might be acting strangely, but she’d show them just how little effect the ‘space rays’ or whatever were having on her!!

As she’d once again done her usual superb job of getting them to their goal, she treated the bridge crew , and the CIO especially, to a smug smile while they got on with whatever it was they were doing and treated herself to a sip of her soda, another job well done.

Izzy Gonzales - Helm Officer

DaVinci returned his gaze to the helmsman and frowned. Now her behavior had become unprofessional and lackadaisical, especially for someone on bridge duty. Even more so with the Captain on the bridge. He pushed her behaviors to the back of his mind for a conversation at another time.

OOC: Hey people, thanks for continuing the thread on while I’ve been busy RL

IC: Dante came to his feet and took a few steps closer to the screen. It didn’t change much but helped to centre the growing feeling of frustration he felt at the radiation issues and unexplained behaviour that had been reported. Without any idea if the frustration he felt was because of those issues or just pure annoyance at the mission, he couldn’t tell.

“What is that signal?” He asked, not turning around. “Can we pick it out from here?”

Captain Knight, CO

The signal that they had come for was not deep within the nebula but on its outer edges and appeared on Romani’s console and it had the signature of a probe. The epicenter of the probe was where the unknown radiation was the highest. It would appear that the radiation didn’t actually come from the nebula or Pulsar.

GM Nosferatu

“It’s.....” Teller looked up at the screen a waited a moment to build the tension. “Coming from the rim of the nebula, it also appears artificial in nature… it could be a probe malfunctioning, an uncontrolled weapon… ” The he stared at the captain. “Or a prelude to an invasion.” One of those three things were very unlikely, but Teller at this moment thought all of them were excellent theories.

Graham CSO

“Can we zoom in to pinpoint the location and get a closer look at what’s there,” DaVinci queried?

Colter (CIO)

Threwns eyes narrowed in concern to what’s coming. He didn’t think the ship needed to be at red alert yet, but given that the radiation was artificial brought out flashback from the dominion war. Pushing the fear of a trap aside, he focused on the incoming reports. Hoping it was nothing to dangerous.

-XO

“Sure” Teller commented, given that they were in a nebula and the object was many many many kilometers away he doubted anything would come up aside from static… but the zoom function definitely would work. “Visual locked on the coordinates, maximum magnification.” Teller looked up hopefully.

Teller CSO

Upon magnification it appeared to definitely be a probe of some sort though not of Starfleet design. If they wanted to know more about the probe they would most likely need to bring it aboard if they could find a way to counteract the radiation or protect the crew from it.

GM Nosferatu

“H.D. T.V. coming at ya.” Teller made a reference that few in the 24th century would know. He couldn’t believe they had actually gotten a picture. “We could blow it up? That should stop it.”

Graham offered unhelpfully.

Graham CSO

OOC: GM blinks in disbelief at the blood thirsty science officer on the bridge:P

OOC: I wanted to have some sort of radiation effect without making Graham ineffective. We need him to still be able to do his job. So all was left was to give him a lack of humane judgement… hence his hyper vigilance and aggression.

GM Nosferatu

Izzy nodded in agreement as the Science Nerd actually said something proactive for once! Instead of the usual blue uniformed hand ringing and moralising from Team Geek!! She activated the control panel.

“Attack Pattern Alpha 3 laid in Sir, ready on your mark” she called back over her shoulder to the Skipper.

She paused, fingers hovering over the buttons which would send the ship into a frontal torpedo attack run followed by swinging a wide arc around the target to allow the broadside phasers to finish off any remains at maximum range.

Izzy Gonzales - Helm Officer

DaVinci looked up at the screen. The probe wasn’t of Federation design that he recognized, anyway. He began running through non-Federation designs to see if any matched, while at the same time replying to the helmsman.

“Let’s hold off on that option, for the time being, Mr. Gonzales.”

Threwn was just about to say something similar, but Colter beat him to it.

“Captain, we should be able to set up an isolation chamber on the ship and then beam it aboard, or get a tractor lock on it and bring it aboard for closer inspection. We may even be able to black the radiation that’s causing everyone to act aggressively.”

Colter (CIO)

“I concur Captain, we should try and study this, in isolation.” Threwn said, concuring with Colter.

-XO

Teller tilted his head. He knew what that meant. They were going to make him do all the hard work.
