Sinclair laughed. “As if I’m gonna tell the lead cop on the ship that I committed a homicide!” and he laughed again. “But no, no stabbings recently. Besides… the carpet is new and I don’t wanna get it dirty.” he added with a grin.

Restlessness made her stand up again and pace. Realizing her fidgeting, she paused at the window. “I think you have a better view than my office.” She laughed but it was strained.

She turned back to him, her hands clapped behind her back almost at parade rest. “I believe you have a recreational holo program we have yet to enjoy, don’t you? I apologise for not asking sooner. Things have been crazy with quarterly evals and shift changes. NE Marsh is expecting his first kid and had become nearly useless as a shift leader. So I’ve sent him to the armory and sent Parker to replace him. It shuffled a couple mentorships around, but they need to learn from more than one person, yes? ” It was a rambled off excuse. ” But I think we should be settled enough to enjoy at least one shift in relative peace. If you still desire, of course. If you’re busy, I understand.”

Sinclair let out a loud “Ha!” and stood up quickly… very quickly for a man his size and build. “I had completely forgotten! Smashing idea, Chief. And I just finished up my last evaluation, so I am free for the next few hours. Let’s do this! I just have to go by my quarters and change.”

Sha startled, something that made her realize just how far she has stretched herself. “I… ummm… I didn’t mean it had to be this second. I mean, I don’t want to intrude on your day.” Part of her was screaming at her lips to shut up, the other part was wondering if this was such a good idea after all.

As he stepped towards her and mentioned needing to change, she nodded. “All right… I guess I can’t argue with the Doc.” She smiled and nodded towards the door. “Please, after you…”

Sinclair led her quickly through the corridors to his quarters. “You can come in or wait out here, whatever is most comfortable. But be warned, place is a mess.” he said with a grin as the door slid open.

The Counselor’s quarters were laid out the same as most of the Senior Officer’s, but that is where the similarities ended. Decorated more like a Scottish pub or some kind of clubhouse, there was an air of jovial national pride inherent in everything. A Scottish flag hung above the large windows, and a dartboard was on one wall. Small items and knick-knacks were scattered around the room, but what was most impressive were the ships models. There had to be more than four or five dozen all around the room, some in transparent cases, some on shelves, some sitting on various surfaces. Ships of all kinds and classes were represented, and each had a signature on some part of it. Contrary to what Royal had said, the place was clean and well kept.

The big man moved to the bedroom and said “Gimme a sec to change.” and pulled off his shirt as the door slid closed behind him. In that small time frame, a series of faint crisscrossed scars could be seen on the well-muscled back.
