Scans came in showing the probe at the edge of the nebula, the unknown radiation was concentrated around the probe and indicated it was not native of the nebula. More in-depth scans showed that the probe was made up of rodinium alloy, one of the hardest materials known to Starfleet with the symbol Ro, atomic weight 323, atomic number 125, and was first discovered on planet Vega IX.

Seeing the information come across the screen Kalani began to report it. “The probe is made up of Rodinium,” she said to Cori. “That’s a common material in Cardassian starship construction correct,” she asked the woman trying to also interpret the information. “The scans are also showing that Rodinuim is not in any noticeable concentrations in the nebula. At least not in a concentration that could bleed into the results we are getting from the probe.”

“It is used by the Cardassians a lot, yes,” Dalton said, frowning slightly. it didn’t mean that the probed was necessarily Cardassian, but it was a possibility, especially given where the region where the Saracen had its usually AO. “It was used in the outposts on the Romulan border, but that wouldn’t account for the probe casing.”

=/\=Sir, we have scanned the probe and it is showing that the probe is made up of Rodinium. Sending all information to your console.=/\= Kalani reported to Teller on the bridge as she hit submit to transfer the information.

OOC: Sorry for the confusion, its the unknown radiation that is not in the rest of the nebula but appears to be radiating from the probe:)

GM Nosferatu

Squinting at the data as if it might help her think better, Cori pondered aloud. “The probe is emitting radiation. But what’s generating it? A faulty component? An intention bit of decoy? I’m going to see if we can’t narrow it down a bit better,” the holographic woman said, analyzing the radiation itself first.

OOC: We’re also waiting for the scans of the gravimetric distortion that Kalani did.

It was difficult to determine if the radiation was being emitted or was intrinsic to the probe itself though it surrounded the probe in a bubble like manner, radiating out from there.

As to the gravimetric distortions they could be mapped to a certain degree as there were consistent waves though there were waves that oscillated through in an unpredictable manner.

GM Nosferatu

“The sensors show the gravimetric distortions can be mapped to a certain degree and are consistent waves though they are oscillating in an unpredictable manner. Running them through the computer to see if that can explain why,” Kalani said tapping the console.

In this region it appeared that the close proximity of the dichromic nebula and Class 4 Pulsar were what was causing the strange oscillations that rolled over the distortions that were normal to the Bretaka Nebula. The strange distortions were emanating from the pair.

GM Nosferatu

“The oscillations it seems are because of its close proximity of the dichromic nebula and Class 4 Pulsar even though these oscillations are normal to the Bretaka Nebula,” Kalani read off the results from the console.

As the Science team was studying their readings on the distortions and discussing them the ship suddenly shuddered and explosions could be heard dimly through the walls indicating that something was breaking somewhere. The lights and power dimmed in the labs as emergency power took over.

=/\=Jarred=/\= Kalani’s hand instantly went to her comm badge. =/\=Commander we are on emergency power here in the labs=/\= This statement was going to be obvious to him but it also served a second purpose and one Jarred would instantly understand. He was the chief engineer. Nothing happened on this ship he wasn’t aware of including the fact that Kalani above all else worried about him. The distant explosions could be anything. It could also mean something was happening in his engine room and that something could mean he was hurt or injured. As long as he replied it would assure Kalani he was okay and doing what he was trained to do.
