“Skipper, we know how to block the radiation now. I suggest taking a small team to infiltrate the communications center and get it under our control and back up again. Controlling comms would be a big advantage for us.”

Colter (CIO)

“I agree Captain, A small team could take the comm center and we could get access to a much wider range of signals. Could help us locate the attacking ship.” Threwn said offering his opinion.

“I like that idea, but let’s make sure the station is stable enough for us to risk a team dropping onto it first with the amount of damage they seem to have taken.” He nodded at the two Officers, taking the comms system would be invaluable, but not if it was to find the system was fried beyond repair and lose the team that took it shortly afterwards. “Helm, hold position here.”

“I’m getting what I’m getting.” Teller reported. “I could try to uplink the star-base computer and see if we can get a direct report from their systems.” Graham moved to get the prefix code and set up a computer uplink. He would be ready if given the order.

Graham

“Make the attempt,” Dante said turning to Teller. “Maybe we can get a link despite the systems damage. It’s worth a try.”

Teller made the necessary connections and waited for the result.

Threwn stood up and moved over to the tactical station. He took a look at the sensors from a better screen that what he could see from his chair.

“Any sign of weapons fire in the system?” He asked the officer at tactical.

-XO

Multiple isolytic torpedoes had been fired from an origin point 52.7 Km off their starboard bow. This space was now vacant.

-GM Fate

“That is nearly point blank range… either the ship was under a false flag, or came out of cloak.” He emphasized the word ‘CLOAK’ if a ship was cloaked it could still be around.

“Isolytic. . . ?” Colter began. “Isolytic weapons were banned by the Second Khitomer Accord, because of the damage they can do to subspace. The Son’a were still using them according to the most recent Intel reports.”

Colter (CIO)

“And shutting down the rift they caused wasn’t exactly an easy thing to achieve. Scan for subspace ruptures in the system and open a line to the Colony, lets see if there are any unwelcome surprises out there, that might endanger those escape pods. How much damage has the station taken from those torpedo’s?”

There was a small subspace rupture, shrinking on its own as it moved away from the station. It was unstable and closing fast. The station had been fairly thoroughly shredded by the attack. There were traversable paths, but the main engineering section had been destroyed and half of the command centre had collapsed. The path for the escape pods was clear.

=/\= Aldebaran Colony, this is Captain Knight of the USS Saracen. We are responding to your distress call, what is your current situation? =/\=

Captain Knight, CO

=/\=Thank god.=/\= came the voice of the governor. =/\=This is Governor Ronan Barr. A ship came in and out so fast we barely saw it. After they fired on the station, they turned their guns on us. But… I suppose the weapons didn’t detonate. A few just went into the mines. We never even felt a shudder.=/\=

-GM Fate

teller

“They weren’t explosives. I’m betting they were radiation emitters,” Colter replied.

Colter (CIO)

After repeated tries, Teller was able to find a stable uplink to the station computer. An audio recording overtook Governor Barr’s voice. =/\=Saviours of these Federation scum,=/\= multiple isolytic detonations occurred on the surface. =/\=you are well too late. Chase the shadows if you will, but nowhere is safe that does not bow to my command. You cannot save them all.=/\=

Governor Barr returned =/\=elay-…detona-…arges. How could I be so blind?=/\=

Based on the locations of the detonations, there was only one warp signature to follow.

-GM Fate

OOC: I’m confused by the post. I get a there’s a ship… but I’m confused on the charges/detonations how was it set up?

IC: “Probable hostile ship at 221 mark 14… she’s moving fast.”

Teller.

OOC: I’m reading the charges that just detonated were the torpedo’s that were fired into the colony, a few going into the mines etc and were fitted with a delayed charge. The indication of the warp signature would be pointing out the most likely warp trail to follow based on where the detonations came from and the probably point of launch from the ship. Sam feel free to correct me here, but I don’t think that there is a ship present, it’s an old warp trail?

IC: “Where did that message come from? Was it live?” Dante asked, coming to his feet. “Put the Colony onscreen, Mr Graham check the bearing of that warp trail, is it heading anywhere in particular?”

=/\= Governor Barr this is the Saracen, do you need assistance? We have a warp trail of the possible ship that attacked you and are preparing to follow. =/\=

Captain Knight, CO

OOC: Dave is 100% correct, these were delayed detonation charges and you currently have their most likely last position and the warp trail leading away from it.

ooc: Got it

OOC: Sorry if my comment made things any more confusing about radiation emitters. That was purely conjecture on Colter’s part. –Terry

IC:
The message had been pre-recorded, it would seem that something had triggered the torpedoes, and they were signaled to detonate during that message. The closest destination along the trajectory of the warp trail was Starbase 257.

The viewscreen was more static than image. =/\=Saracen?=/\= Barr asked, sounding as though he knew the name. =/\=You’re a warship. We need hospitals. Bring me whoever did this. Find him. I’ll lock him up for the rest of his existence!=/\=

-GM Fate

Dante looked at his Bridge crew and motioned for the audio to be cut. “How long until that warp trail has degraded enough for us to be able to follow? There are more of them down their than our few medical staff can handle, and they have hospitals. Do we have time to beam down spare medical supplies and the treatment file for the medication?”

Captain Knight, CO

They had just enough time, if they hurried, to send medical supplies and instructions before the warp trail was gone.

-GM Fate

“It’s already at that point.” He looked at his sensors. “I’ve got maybe, five more minutes before the trail deteriorates to a point where I’m doing little more than guessing. As we pursue it should get more clear… if we are faster than them. Given their size and the manner of their attack that should be fairly certain.”

Graham

Dante paused a moment, five minutes wasn’t going to give them enough time to transport any decent amount of supplies down. It wasn’t like they had them pre packed for mass transport after all. The colony was large enough that they should have ample amounts of supplies themselves, but if the radiation was affecting the populous, that was something that medical supplies weren’t going to fix.

“Mr Graham, transmit the medical file we have on the radiation and treatment Dr Knight developed for it. They should have what they need to produce it and distribute it themselves, if not we can assist when we return. For now, Helm, bring us around to a pursuit course on the ship that may have attacked the colony. Bring us back to Yellow Alert Commander Threwn.”

Dante turned and returned to his chair, taking his seat and looking at the Helm station. “When we have transmitted the file, engage to Warp 9.7. Lets go Hunting.”

Captain Knight, CO

“Transmitted.” Graham Uhura’ed.

Governor Barr thanked the crew of the Saracen profusely for spending valuable time assisting. A Starfleet hospital vessel, the USS Hope, signalled that they were inbound.

Following the trail would lead them to Starbase 257. A battleship was rapidly circling the base. The vessel could be identified as Son’a. They hailed the Saracen.

-GM Fate

Standing at the Ops console, Colter accessed the hail. “Captain, that’s a Son’a ship circling like a shark. They’re. . . they’re hailing us.”

Colter (CIO)

Dante nodded in response. “Move to Red Alert, bring us into range and hold position.” He ordered, then before accepting the call, “Does the Son’a ships energy signature match the warp trail we followed?”

Captain Knight, CO

The energy signature was an exact match for the one they had followed.

“That’s them… its a perfect match. It would hold up in court.”

When the channel was opened, a man too young to be Son’a, but evidently the Captain, held in high regard. “I have seen it. This sector is ours. Those who resist, destroyed. Whether or not you are a casualty is your decision.”

-GM Fate

‘That fountain of youth field doesn’t work on dead bodies.’ Graham thought to himself. Their relative immortality had made the Son’a a little arrogant.

Graham
