IC: Dante paused a moment and let a silence hang in the air between the two ships, he simply looked at the screen and raised his chin slightly.

“Evidently your opening greeting to another Starship leaves something to be desired, Captain. I am Captain Dante Knight of the Federation vessel Saracen. We followed your warp trail from Aldebaran to here, you’ve committed an act of unprovoked violence against the Colony, what exactly have you seen that makes you claim ownership of this sector?”

Captain Knight, CO

“I see” he breathed in deeply “the Son’a Empire. I am Lasar. The first, and only, Son’a child born in… too long. A prophet sent to save my people. And I will save them. There are trespassers in our territory. And trespassers are removed or destroyed.”

-GM Fate

OOC: I’m presuming your ‘battleship’ is a superior ship to the Battle Crusiers that engaged the Enterprise in the movie.

“Son’a warships are armed with photon torpedoes and isolytic bursts, a variety of subspace weapon banned by the Second Khitomer Accords. Seven years ago, two Battle cruisers took it to the Enterprise, a Sovereign-class starship. Tactically speaking, we are outmatched.”

Graham.

Dante motioned for the sound to be cut, then looked at his Bridge crew. “Thoughts?”

“I don’t buy that just yet Lt. They do seem pretty arrogant. We can use that to our advantage. Tactical, how does our ship compare to theirs in terms of speed, shield strength and weapon accuracy.” Threwn asked the tactical officer.

-XO

Tactical would find that just as before, the Son’a ship relied on isolytic weaponry for its strength. Its components were mostly slightly weaker than those of the Saracen. They had made their greatest improvements to their hull plating. It was durable, but not strong.

-GM Fate

Colter looked up from the Ops console he was at. “Skipper, they’ve made improvements to their hull, but a barrage of well placed shots should be able to punch through and do some damage and make them think twice about taking us on.”

Colter (CIO)

Teller pulled up the action of the Enterprise to find some tactics that might be advantageous. “It’s a big ship.”

Teller

Teller would find that the Enterprise had gathered and ejected a cloud of flammable metreon gas, which ignited when the Son’a fired their weapons. While no metreon gas was immediately available, the nearest supply being in the briar patch, perhaps a similar idea could be found.

-GM Fate

“Yes, it is a big ship but I think we have an advantage that the Enterprise didn’t, we aren’t running away. I’m hoping on it but not not counting on diplomacy to find a way here gentlemen, they have already tasted blood. Commander how strong are their defense systems around their Bridge, could we disable them with enough concentrated firepower quickly?” He asked glancing at Colter, it might have sounded bloodthirsty, but the battleship had already fired on Federation assets.

“That’s what I was thinking, Skip. I’m on it,” Colter replied as he searched for the information. (GM, what do I find?)

He sighed slightly and looked at Tactical, “Keep the Phasers charged and have the Quantum torpedo’s loaded, if they launch an isolytic charge I want it intercepted and destroyed immediately. Neither of us are moving and they put themselves in just as much risk as they do us if they use one of those weapons, I need options to neutralize it if they launch it and we miss, Mr Graham would a Photon torpedo modified to be a pulse-wave torpedo give us a chance of sealing it?”

Captain Knight, CO

OCC: Maybe I missed it so forgive me.

IC: Threwn leaned back in his chair thoughtfully. “What are they after? What brought them to this system?” He wondered, looking at the captain.
“If we can figure that out, might give us an advantage.”

-XO

Dante nodded, “He said something about a Son’a Empire, but there is nothing of that sort in this sector. I think he has designs to change that however.” He looked back at the screen and motioned for the comm to come back up.

“Lasar, I am a little curious. There is no Son’a Empire in this area, this territory belongs to the Federation to which you have committed an act of aggression. Power down your weapons, there is no reason to come to blows here.”

Captain Knight, CO

Lasar smiled. “Just because you have not witnessed it does not mean it is not there. Your Federation is intruding upon our space. All you think about is what’s yours. But who did you steal it from? Now I am taking it back! You have five minutes to remove yourselves and the other intruders in this system. Anyone still here in five minutes will be destroyed.” He closed the channel.

-GM Fate

While waiting for the tactical information to appear, DaVinci added, “Could be this punk is trying to make a name for himself by taking on the big boys, sir.”

Colter (CIO)

Dante grunted in agreement. “He called himself some kind of prophet. He would certainly make a name for himself by taking out the Fleet headquarters of Star Fleets Meridian Fleet singlehandedly. Comms, put out a call to any Starfleet vessels in range to return to Starbase immediately to assist in evacuations, Lasar is well aware we cannot evacuate an entire Starbase’s full compliment on one Star Ship, he’s looking to create an incident. Options?”

Captain Knight, CO

Teller looked at the ship. Meterion gas, it wasn’t as if flammable gas was in clouds everywhere in space.

Teller

Tactical scans showed that the ship’s true weakness was the placement of its’ shield generator, which was central, on the top of the craft. The exact location of the bridge, forward on the main section, was also available.

Five vessels returned contact. The USS Dragoon, 10 minutes away. The USS Orion, 4 Minutes away. The USS Pike, 7 minutes away. The USS Draco, 12 minutes away. The USS Knight, location unknown.

-GM Fate

Threwn looked at the tactical display. “If we can come from up top, we might be able to disable them. Their shield generator is somewhat expose, compared to the rest of their vital components. I don’t think we will be able to get out of this with out a fight.” He added.

-XO

“Cmdr. Threwn is correct, sir. Shield generator is on the dorsal surface. The bridge is also a good target, dorsal forward,” added Colter.

“We have four starships within 12 minutes and another an unknown distance.” That was enough firepower to handle one Son’a ship… no matter what class.

Graham

Threwn thought for a moment. “Sir, if we can distract them, keep them focused on us, the other Federation starships can come in from behind them.” He suggested.

-XO

“If we focus on the bridge, that should allow the others to attack from the aft and aim for the generators.”

“His crew may be made up of zealots that do see him as a prophet. They may be willing to fight to the death in the hoes they become martyrs for others to take up their cause. We need to be careful here, skip.”

Colter (CIO)

“We focus on those targets, that should keep them focused on us, allowing our backup to surprise them from behind.” It was a old tactic, but one that still worked effectively.

-XO

Single starships weren’t quite as vulnerable to those tactics as other military formations, but it probably wouldn’t matter… four or five on one should allow them to be tactically superior. What was the saying, “even the lion will fall prey to a pack of wolves.”

Graham.

Sensors showed the warp signature of the USS Orion, 30 seconds from the system.

-GM Fate

“The Orion is entering the system,” Graham reported dutifully, “The Pike is 3 minutes out, The USS Dragoon is 6, The USS Draco… 9 minutes away.”

Graham

From the tactical station, Colter reported. “Shields at 100%, phasers ready, photon torpedoes armed. What’s your pleasure, Captain?”

Colter (CIO)

Threwn sat in his chair and opened up the tactical and damage control screens in dual mode. Allowing him to monitor both and make adjustments as needed.

-XO

Dante grunted slightly in thought, Colter was right. If these Son’a were zealots their actions might encourage others to join their cause if they were destroyed in the name of the ‘empire’. On the other hand, the safety of the Starbase was paramount although it wasn’t exactly a defenseless colony orbital station. Perhaps, the imminent arrival of the other Federation ships would make the Captain opposing them more talkative.

“Mr Colter, keep their shield generator in your gunsights. If we come to blows lets go for the disable if we can, something tells me their actions might not have the general support of the Son’a leadership behind them. Mr Graham, Aside from ejecting our warp core, is there anything in the system on scans we could use to nullify the thread of their isolytic weaponry? Ops ready to hail them again, maybe now they are outnumbered and have our full attention they might talk a little more.”

Captain Knight, CO

The USS Orion and USS Knight emerged from warp. Lasar sent out a broad frequency transmission. =/\=We will not be defeated. The Son’a will not die on Federation terms! For the glory of Son’a!=/\=

The Son’a ship stopped circling the Starbase and flew away. On a collision course with the Saracen.

-GM Fate

“Helm, prepare a short Warp burst to move us behind the Son’a ship on my signal. Commander,” Dante looked over at Colter, “Fire Phasers to disable shields, then disable their engines. Ready Warp burst on my order.” Dante moved back to his chair, this was what he was more comfortable with, admittedly.

Captain Knight, CO

Teller started the math on a micro warp burst… easier said than done.. and sent to the helm computer.
