Tactical scans showed that the ship’s true weakness was the placement of its’ shield generator, which was central, on the top of the craft. The exact location of the bridge, forward on the main section, was also available.

Five vessels returned contact. The USS Dragoon, 10 minutes away. The USS Orion, 4 Minutes away. The USS Pike, 7 minutes away. The USS Draco, 12 minutes away. The USS Knight, location unknown.

-GM Fate

Threwn looked at the tactical display. “If we can come from up top, we might be able to disable them. Their shield generator is somewhat expose, compared to the rest of their vital components. I don’t think we will be able to get out of this with out a fight.” He added.

-XO

“Cmdr. Threwn is correct, sir. Shield generator is on the dorsal surface. The bridge is also a good target, dorsal forward,” added Colter.

“We have four starships within 12 minutes and another an unknown distance.” That was enough firepower to handle one Son’a ship… no matter what class.

Graham

Threwn thought for a moment. “Sir, if we can distract them, keep them focused on us, the other Federation starships can come in from behind them.” He suggested.

-XO

“If we focus on the bridge, that should allow the others to attack from the aft and aim for the generators.”

“His crew may be made up of zealots that do see him as a prophet. They may be willing to fight to the death in the hoes they become martyrs for others to take up their cause. We need to be careful here, skip.”

Colter (CIO)

“We focus on those targets, that should keep them focused on us, allowing our backup to surprise them from behind.” It was a old tactic, but one that still worked effectively.

-XO

Single starships weren’t quite as vulnerable to those tactics as other military formations, but it probably wouldn’t matter… four or five on one should allow them to be tactically superior. What was the saying, “even the lion will fall prey to a pack of wolves.”

Graham.

Sensors showed the warp signature of the USS Orion, 30 seconds from the system.

-GM Fate

“The Orion is entering the system,” Graham reported dutifully, “The Pike is 3 minutes out, The USS Dragoon is 6, The USS Draco… 9 minutes away.”

Graham

From the tactical station, Colter reported. “Shields at 100%, phasers ready, photon torpedoes armed. What’s your pleasure, Captain?”

Colter (CIO)

Threwn sat in his chair and opened up the tactical and damage control screens in dual mode. Allowing him to monitor both and make adjustments as needed.

-XO

Dante grunted slightly in thought, Colter was right. If these Son’a were zealots their actions might encourage others to join their cause if they were destroyed in the name of the ‘empire’. On the other hand, the safety of the Starbase was paramount although it wasn’t exactly a defenseless colony orbital station. Perhaps, the imminent arrival of the other Federation ships would make the Captain opposing them more talkative.

“Mr Colter, keep their shield generator in your gun sights. If we come to blows lets go for the disable if we can, something tells me their actions might not have the general support of the Son’a leadership behind them. Mr Graham, Aside from ejecting our warp core, is there anything in the system on scans we could use to nullify the thread of their isolytic weaponry? Ops ready to hail them again, maybe now they are outnumbered and have our full attention they might talk a little more.”

Captain Knight, CO

The USS Orion and USS Knight emerged from warp. Lasar sent out a broad frequency transmission. =/\=We will not be defeated. The Son’a will not die on Federation terms! For the glory of Son’a!=/\=

The Son’a ship stopped circling the Starbase and flew away. On a collision course with the Saracen.

-GM Fate

“Helm, prepare a short Warp burst to move us behind the Son’a ship on my signal. Commander,” Dante looked over at Colter, “Fire Phasers to disable shields, then disable their engines. Ready Warp burst on my order.” Dante moved back to his chair, this was what he was more comfortable with, admittedly.

Captain Knight, CO

A simple “Aye, sir,” was the CIO’s only response, as he prepared to fire.

Looking up from his seat at the view screen, Dante’s voice was calm, he was working. “Fire to disable, Commander Colter. Weapons free.”

“Firing phasers,” Colter replied, as the twin red phasers erupted from the forward phaser bank.

Teller started the math on a micro warp burst… easier said than done.. and sent to the helm computer.

Teller

Dante watched the sensors on his armrest console reflecting the damage and reduction of the Son’a vessels shields, it was far less informative than what the specialist consoles would be telling his Bridge Crew, but he got the idea. When the computer beeped from the CSO that the computation was ready, he didn’t stop to check it, he knew that the man would have produced something far more accurate than anybody else on his crew could. “Engage Warp Burst Now.”

Phaser fire was accurate and damaged the dorsal section of the Son’a vessel, crippling its defences. Upon execution, the warp burst carried the Saracen behind the craft, now hurtling towards nothing. The USS Knight glided into place where the Saracen had been and gave a full barrage of phasers and torpedoes. Now adrift, the Son’a hailed all nearby vessels.

-GM Fate

DaVinci smiled as an explosion lit up the screen. “Direct hit on the shield generator, Skipper. Damage reports coming in.”

“Nicely done ladies and gentlemen, hold fire.” Dante offered, then looked at the readout on the Son’a craft and let them wait on the hail a moment. “Damage report on the Son’a ship please, and Tactical, maintain Phaser lock on them and if they for an Isolytic weapon, destroy it at once. Signal the other ships to maintain position and readyness.”

Looking over at Threwn, Dante rubbed his jaw slightly. “Did that seem too easy to you?”

Captain Knight, CO

“Way to easy, Captain.” Threwn replied gravely without looking up from his display.

Damage report would indicate severe damage to the upper decks, shields, and weapons systems. A warp core breach was in progress.

-GM Fate

“Phasers still locked. Weapons and shields are down. Severe damage to the upper decks, aaaand their warp core has been breached. They aren’t going anywhere unless it’s to Boomtown.”

Colter (CIO)

Dante made a pyramid of his fingertips and nodded. “Nice shooting Commander, now let’s see what they have to say. Answer the Hail, on screen.”

Captain Knight, CO

An injured Lasar appeared onscreen. =/\=Victory is hollow when it makes a martyr.=/\= a self destruct countdown was audible in the background. =/\=For the glory of Son’a!=/\=

The young prophet’s ship exploded, tearing itself apart, leaving only small pieces of debris.

-GM Fate

Watching the explosion, Dante could only raise an eyebrow. The bright flash of the breach of their Warp Core quickly fizzled to nothing as the vacuum of space consumed it.

Teller held his hands akimbo… “What the hell.” he said quietly under his breath. It didn’t make sense to him, even tactically, there was a much better use for a star-ship especially one of that size than martyr-dom to a race that likely would disavow their actions.

Teller Graham

The USS Knight hailed the Saracen.

-GM Fate

Threwn looked up as the ship exploded. “Scan the area for radiation or other traps.” He ordered Graham with concern.

-XO

“Add escape pods or transporter signatures to that,” Dante said, then motioned to the Screen. “Answer the Knight, excellent name for a ship, by the way.”

Teller nodded as he spun back to his sensors and committed both scans…

=/\=Knight, this is Captain Knight of the Saracen. Thank you for the assist. =/\=

Captain Dante Knight, CO

Nothing was left of the Son’a ship or her crew.

=/\=This is Captain Daniel Grant. You have my apologies for this situation getting this far out of hand. We were aware of Lasar before, but he had not been violent or even preached violence. Until recently. We came as soon as we could.=/\=

-GM Fate

Dante nodded, =/\= Without reason we could have done nothing before then anyway, Captain. In the end they put up little of a fight, I just hope their attempt at making martyrs of themselves doesn’t take hold with the Son’a. =/\=

Captain Knight

=/\=I doubt it will. He’s been viewed as a radical for some time. While the Son’a feel disenfranchised, he took it too far, even for them.=/\=

-GM Fate

=/\= Best we keep an eye in that direction in any case. I’ll include the suggestion in my report. In the meantime it looks like we have some small repairs to do on the Saracen, clearing leftover radiation from the probes before we head out again. =/\=

Captain Knight, CO

Threwn stood up and walked over to tactical as the Captain talked to the USS Knight. He looked at Colter. “This was to easy. Something isn’t right. Is there anything else on sensors at all? Another ship or anything?” He asked curiously.

-XO

=/\=Very good. Grant out.=/\=

Sensors detected no additional dangers.

-GM Fate

Graham turned back to the center of the bridge. “Only friendlies in the vicinity.”

Graham
