All was well on a quiet journey. Until the primary computer core started to show malfunctions. Something was very wrong and all the consoles started to fail to show it.

-GM Fate

Crewman Freeman and Ensign Acuna were on duty as the consoles began to show issues. Freeman began accessing the console as he tried to track the issue before he called over for the officer on watch, Acuna.

“Sir… something weird going on…” Freeman said as Acuna looked over from the core monitor as he walked over to take a look at what Freeman was seeing.

“Odd… run a level 2 diagnostic… it might be something…” Acuna paused as he looked around, other consoles seemed to be showing issues as other engineers and crewmen seemed to be having issues at what seemed all their stations.

=/\= Engineering to Chief Alindor… think you might wanna come down here sir…” Acuna said as he glanced over at Freeman with a worried look. “Keep me informed of what’s going on as we wait for Commander Alindor,” Acuna said as he patted the man on his back as he walked over to one of the far consoles and began trying to see what he could find out.

bumping to keep it up etc

It didn’t come over the comms, but over the console. A request from the Security station on the bridge was requesting a diagnostic confirmation on the external sensors.

Vadoma came into engineering carrying a tool box. Placing it back in the locker she walked over to Acuna. “I’m looking for the chief. I got the panel on second deck replaces and it shouldn’t rattle anymore.” Realizing everyone was on edge, she frowned. “What’s going on? Is there a borg ship outside?” It was a light quip but there was an edge of worry to it. It certainly wasn’t Borg, she thought. It was too calm in here. But there was still an edge that made her wonder just what was going on.

“What’s going on here?” came Jarred’s voice as he came in. The alarm from his office had set him off to enter as he looked around finding Acuna, Freeman, and Romani.

“No idea sir, one moment everything was fine, the next catastrophic failure all around,” Freeman said with a worried look on his face.

“Ensign Romani, do you know what happened?” Alindor asked.

Alindor, CE

The fact the Chief had come out barking he knew nothing, Romani stepped to the nearest console and started reading what her search came up with. Her body shuddered slightly as she looked back at Alindor. “I…” The red hair gypsy looked at the others then back at Alindor. “Sir… the readings. We aren’t in space anymore.” She let it sink in, looked down and ran the program once more to detect what was going on outside, and it factored in the the bridge entries.

“Say that again?” Alindor said with a puzzled look. So many things could have been uttered to him, but that was not the one he expected.

She looked back up shaking her head. “Chief… there’s nothing out there. Lieutenant Triton wants a diagnostic run on external sensors to be sure they are operating properly. I did… they are… there’s just nothing out there to read.” Her voice shook but she held herself together. She had proved time and again that when a crisis hit, she was no shivering ninny. It took her a moment to reset the steel of her spine but then she straightened up and swallowed deeply before her once calm and steady voice came out like nothing catastrophic was happening.

“Sir… I sent word back to the Lieutenant that all was well and readings were true. What should we do next?” It was all business from here on out. Fear could be dealt with later.

OOC: GM do we have any readings by chance? I would love to give Romani more details if possible.

All external readings of space came back as ‘nothing’, quite literally. There was the Saracen, and multiple probes that had been launched moments ago but other than that, it was as if the probes and the Saracen were all that existed in the universe.

“Okay… we are in… nothing.” Jarred said with a concerned look. “You know somehow that isn’t the worst thing the Saracen has encountered, but it is one of the more unique. Do we have any visual confirmation of what the sensors are reading?”

Alindor, CE

Roma’s eyes widened slightly at the statement. She hadn’t been on board long enough to know the story of those moment, but she made a mental note to ask when time permitted. “I will take your word for it, Sir…” She shook her head and looked back at her console. “The sensor probes gave exactly ‘nothing’ as readings. It’s weird, it isn’t reading positive or negative on anything the probe is capable of reading.” She was confused and it was more than evident in her voice as she stared at the readings hard enough she hoped they would spontaneously change to provide her with information.

Vadoma
Engineer

As Vadoma stared hard at the readings, something happened. A sudden power surge in the plasma relays was accompanied by every console suddenly flashing with alternating Terran and Federation symbols, as if the computer was fighting with itself as to which one was in control. The consoles became mostly unresponsive but that wasn’t the immediate worry as the lighting dropped, it was replaced by a glow and hum from the Warp Core.

The Core began to surge, as if it was preparing to head to warp speed only the power was fluctuating the wrong way, it was a power profile that Alindor would never have seen, much less ever used on the Saracen if he was concerned with safety protocols. The Saracen was simply not designed for this type of energy assignment and the power surge appeared to have begun building dangerously.
