“I also know Lani, it isn’t about feeling if you know someone. I am not gonna hide things I have to do as I tell her everything but if you think she would care about how we do this then you need to get to know her better.” Jarred said with a slight annoyed feeling. He knew Lani better than almost anyone, and to think she would be jealous was a stretch. He knew Cori though also, she was always worried about perceptions against her and how people would judge her. She had eyes on her at all time. That made for a nervous and cautious feeling.

Cori just gave a shrug. If he didn’t think there would be an issue then it didn’t really matter what she thought.

“You need to just worry about me getting this to work I will get the rest settled… I never failed a task and I won’t make promises but this will be a something I will get everything settled on” Jarred said as he tried to give a sense of optimism for her. He couldn’t make promises but he was going to do everything to make things work.

She exhaled a non-breath, the action as much a part of her as every other affectation she had. “I wasn’t expecting it to begin with, so I’m just going to keep an open mind and not get my hopes up. But it will take awhile. i assume the original holoemitter request can still happen while I’m waiting?”

“I can get the team to do that, you and I can work on the rest. I am going to do everything in my power… you deserve that much.” Jarred said softly as he took a deep breath. “I want to make sure you get all the effort I humanly possibly can.”

Cori quirked a half-smile. “Funny,” she said, genuinely amused. “Alright, well I’ve taken up enough of your time.” She studied him for a long moment and gave him a nod. “Thank you Jarred,” she said.

Stepping away Dalton knew she’d have to parse through their conversation a few times but it did feel… something. Hopeful? A new beginning? They couldn’t and shouldn’t erase the past, but she was going to try and look at this as a new start and maybe it would feel less awkward. A also maybe a little less painful.
