“And some sand, apparently. Do you have any idea what that could mean?” Royal asked as he looked at her, puzzlement and concern playing across his features.

Searching through the possibilities (she was still a scientist in her own way), Cori shrugged. “Too many variables to know for sure, but if there were any special characteristics of the sand, it could narrow down where it came from. But we’ll have to wait for the lab results on it first.”

“This is so weird,” she said shaking her head slightly.

Royal nodded in agreement. “Yes… yes it is.” he said quietly. After a moment, he slapped both hands down on his thighs and said “Ok… we are stuck for answers at this time, right? So… let’s do something wholly and completely unrelated. Clear our minds, as it were. I’m thinking we clean up this stuff, get you settled as much as we can, and then I will let you take me to lunch at the replicator. No shop talk. You ask me questions and I answer for a change. Anything you want to know about me or whatever, its fair game. So… you’re on final placement of knick-knacks. I’m on trash duty. Hop to, lass. I’m starving.” and he grinned as he stood up and began gathering up packing material and the various bits and tossing them in the recycler.

Royal

Cori laughed. “Yes, Sir,” she teased , since he did outrank her. Moving to her own crate, she pulled out a few more of the items but there really wasn’t a lot. She had never been much of a collector.

Standing back after a few minutes, she wiggled her head back and forth. “It’ll do. I need some plant life in here. And maybe some textiles. It’s a start though,” she said with a smile towards Royal. “Ready to go?”

Royal nodded and said “Aye.” He then grinned and walked over to her replicator and ordered bangers and mash and mushy peas. As the computer processed the order he looked at her and said “Excellent place for a picnic. Now sit.” and he picked up the plate and got a glass of lemonade and went back to the couch.

“See? this is what I’m talking about. Textiles. I’m thinking a nice textured colourful area rug and then you could just picnic properly on the floor,” she said with a grin as she sat down next to him and lounged backwards into.

Pulling over a crate for a table, he grinned at her and said “I’d ask if you wanted something just to be polite, but I’m not wasting any time.” and he took a big bite of banger. “So…” he asked as he chewed, “… ask me something. Anything you wanted to know about me. No limits… shoot.” As informal as he was being, there was a purpose behind his direction… a purpose solely for her benefit.

Royal

“Anything. I mean, that does open up a whole slew of things…” she said, her electric gaze tilted upwards towards her ceiling for a moment.

Shifting to sit more forward and gaze at Royal directly, Cori smiled. “Okay, if you could anywhere right now. Just drop everything and go one place in the galaxy, where would you go and why?”
