Sha, herself, was impressed that the Dominion was part of this story, as well. But she would leave most of those details to Sinclair. When a pause occurred in the conversation, she spoke up. “I noticed you require opticals for entrance. Are such securities in place for exit as well? Or is there another way out should something occur?” She didn’t like the fact that Sinclair, the CIO and the Doc were at the mercy of someone else in order to leave or, stars forbid, escape. She had been torn between waiting by the shuttle and accompanying the group. She knew Sinclair would need another hand if something happened and had stepped into the opening with them. Now, she just wanted to be sure they could get out as easily.

The elevator still moved down, but above them they could see the shaft above. They had traveled at least a two hundred meters, and there seemed to be no sign of the levator slowing. Ryn said “No, no… you can leave whenever you like. And there are six such shafts into and out of the facility, and one emergency exit that follows a subterranean river. We will be at the facility shortly.” and he looked to each of them in turn. “Tell me… why have you come? We didn’t know anyone was coming.”

Ryn

Hannah glanced up at the shaft as they continued sink lower. Sha’s question made her curious to know what the shaft was like. Was it smooth, finished, with a ladder for maintenance, or rough hewn still. Depending on that decided how they could possible get back out the shaft if the elevator stopped working. This was the most direct route back to the shuttle, but direct was not always the best way. She turned her attention to Ryn at the mentioned a subterranean river. That posed it’s own set of problems getting out. But it also raised some medical concerns. Questions best left for the doctors when they arrived. “Where are your wounded being kept?” She’d need to go there first before she could give Colter and Sinclair an idea of what they were facing, medically, anyway.
Lt jg Asimina, doctor

“In our infirmary. I will show you when we arrive.”

Colter eyed Ryn suspiciously. “The Saracen received a distress signal from the colony. The atmosphere kept us from transporting in, so we came in the shuttle. It was your people that sent the distress signal, wasn’t it?”

Colter (CIO)

Ryn shook his head. “The colony and our facility are separate entities. We are a science and research facility owned and operated by Haleon Corporation. The colony is a mining conglomerate working for B’nai Mining and Minerals. We don’t cross paths much. But if their call is why you have arrived, then I should send their Magistrate a note of thanks.” he said and the elevator stopped at the bottom of the rough hewn but worn rock elevator shaft. “Please, follow me.” and he stepped off the platform and walked through two large bay doors.

On the other side was a massive cavern. Several hundred meters across in any direction and more than two hundred meters high; the cavern held multiple pre-fabricated buildings and a large central structure that surrounded a truly astonishingly wide hole.

“The infirmary is here.” and he pointed to a structure as they continued to walk past it. “Before you can go in, we have to get you registered as authorized. Because of the attacks, we have increased security. No visitor can go anywhere without an authorized agent with them.”

Ryn

With a practiced eye Hannah scanned the cavern, but it looked stable enough, at the moment. She was curious what was with the hole. And what was down there. She flipped open her tricorder scanning the air quality. This deep into a planet’s crust could release pockets of dangerous gasses. “Ryn, how often are the environmental conditions scanned? Or is there someone who can tell me? We can’t help much if there are gasses down here dangerous for us to breathe.” She followed him to get registered and authorized. She wanted to get a look at the wounded and see if she could determine what kind of weapons were being used against these people. Then she could pass the information to Colter, Sinclair, and Sha.
Lt jg Asimina, doctor

“Oh, we have constant monitoring in the Control Room. We all live down here, so its definitely a priority. Safety first, after all.” Ryn said.

Hannah nodded, checked the readings on her tricorder and then flipped it closed and slid it into a side pocket of her pack. She approached the desk that Ryn had led them towards and assuming her calmest and most reassuring doctor voice she introduced her self to the man. She was the least threatening of the four of them. She spoke clearly and made sure to enunciate so her accent didn’t cause any misunderstandings. “I’m Dr. Asimina. I understand you medical help?” She left her hands empty and palms flat on the table. There was a good bet they would want to search her bag, and for her it was all standard search and rescue equipment and emergency medical supplies. She wouldn’t offer it until they asked for it. Friendly but not stupid.

The idea that someone other than their current hosts had called them put a slightly ridge in Sha’s forehead as she stifled a frown. While they were waiting their escorts, Sha moved closer to Sinclair. “If the miners were the ones to call us, shouldn’t we see if they are the ones who needed our help as well?” Sure, they were here. And sure, there was an infirmary in need. But if they were called by the miners and didn’t answer, how would that affect relations and diplomacy in the near future?

Sinclair shrugged and said “Not our call, Lieutenant. Our job right now is team security and identification of potential hostiles. That’s it.” There was an edge ot Royal’s voice… he didn’t like the situation, but his face remained passive.

=^=Status report Team?=^= Came the disembodied voice of the CSO. It had been a while and without significant changes on the sensor screen a verbal report would tell him much more than the little on his scanners.

Sinclair stepped away form the group slightly and said =/\= Sinclair to Saracen. On site, but this is not who sent the distress calls. There are apparently multiple corporate factions here, and communication does not seem to be a priority. This site, however, has reported multiple attacks and injuries. Investigating now. =/\=

Sha heard all she needed to in Sinclair’s voice. He wasn’t happy, either. They would do their part, as always. But she wondered how coming down here to help ‘the others’ was going to go over with the miners once they got to them. If they got to them. She absently wondered if these folks had anything to do with the transmission becoming messed up enough to divert the shuttle here instead of where it was requested.

She glanced around as Sinclair made his report. The fact they were being given individual escorts also made her a bit uneasy. She stepped up on Sinclair’s right as he finished reporting in. “Who do you want me to stay with. I don’t think us being completely split up is a good idea.” She put her two credits worth in then added, “Unless there is something specific you wish me to look into.” If her idle curiosity could be put to use here, she would understand him wanting that. But her Klingon side said she shouldn’t leave any of their crew alone down here.

DaVinci had taken in every bit of information, but was surprised to hear these folks hadn’t requested the help. “Ryn, we are willing to offer assistance in any way we can, We’re the Federation, that’s what we do. But, I would like to speak with the head of the colony and let them know we’re here to offer assistance to them as well, as they are the ones that sent out the distress signal. Do you know if They’ve been under attack, or is the Dominion attacking your facility only?”
