Making his way leisurely through the corridors of the Saracen Dante noted the bustle of the ship during “working hours”. Not everyone was on duty during the ‘day’ every day, most, especially his senior staff had free days to enable them to cover a Duty shift on the Bridge. Today was one of Colters ‘days off’ but alas, Dante still had to work. Kind of, at least.Numerous pleasant greetings and at least one cold, hard stare at an Ensign who was clearly flirting with another a little too hard until he noticed the Captain and scurried back to work, followed by a hidden smirk on Dante’s face later and he arrived at Colters room. Immediately palming the door to ‘ring the bell’ as it were, Dante waited.
Captain Knight, CO
DaVinci had been about to leave his quarters when the chime rang. Opening the door, he saw Captain Knight standing there. “Hey, Skip, I was just on my way to see you. I have a question for you.”
Dante raised his eyebrow in question at the unexpected admission. “Really? In that case I saved you a trip.”
Colter stepped back and invited Dante in. The room was full of storage totes scattered about the room in a haphazard fashion. “Sorry about the mess, that’s kind of what I wanted to talk to you about. Take a seat if you can find one. Can I get you anything to drink?”

IC: “I’ll be fine for now, thanks Daniel,” Dante replied using Colters first name in a more familiar fashion, while looking around for a seat. “I’ve already had my allocation of coffee for the morning, if I have too much Nat will know. The only thing scarier than a man’s wife is a man’s wife who is also the CMO.” Shooting him a grin, Dante perched himself on the arm of a sofa that was barely visible underneath a bunch of storage totes.
“I feel for you, skipper,” Colter replied realizing that comment hit pretty close to home for him.
“So what is all this?” He waved a hand over the assorted boxes, “going somewhere or going minimalist?”
Captain Knight, CO
DaVinci looked around at the mess and grinned. “Actually, that’s what I wanted to talk to about. Hannah and I–Dr. Asimina and I—I’ve asked her to move in with me.”
He cleared some room for Dante to sit before continuing. “Let me explain, no, let me sum it up. Dr. Asimina and I began a relationship about 5 years ago while we were both stationed on Earth. I got called away on an Intel mission. When that was done, I was assigned to another one immediately afterward. I never had a chance to contact her to tell her what was going one.”
“When things finally settled down, I was assigned here. I saw hwe at the Stabase and she seemed happy. I assumed she had moved on and we lost touch. What I didn’t know was that she was holding on, waiting for me to return. I could’ve saved us both a lot of lonliness if I hadn’t been so foolish.”
“Anyway, the last time I blew my knew out in the holodeck again, I went to sickbay to get it checked out . . . and there was was. I didn’t even know she had been posted to the Saracen. All the memories, all the thought, all the feelings came flooding back. Everything we had shared was right there, giving us another chance to make up for the past 5 years. So, I asked her to move in with me. That’s what all of this is,’ he said while looking around the mess.
“I figured I’d better let you know before you hear about it through rumors. Sure these quarters might be a little cramped, but I’m sure we’ll be able to make do.”
