“Not that I’m agreeing with handing them over, but I think the law is pretty clear. We can’t cross the boarder to enforce our beliefs or laws. We probably could argue if they had brought the Freighter over the boarder themselves as a means to evade our authority.” Not that they had to prove anything in the short run. They could do whatever they wanted and explain it away or not at a later time.

Graham

“Comms, get the Romulans back on line. We need to discuss this. We’re answering a distress call from a Federation ship. It’s our duty to check into that. If they’re all guilty of crimes against the Empire, that’s one thing, but it’s still our duty to investigate and get a clearer picture of the situation, especially if that ship has been MIA for 11 years. . . . “

He continued to search for the prisoners identities. . . . .

Colter (XO/CIO)

A message appeared from the Tactical station. Two signatures inbound. Unknown origin, fluctuations in signal strength. Possible cloaked vessel or vessels.

The identity of the prisoners themselves was not forthcoming, but a cross-reference of the last known crew of the freighter showed a crew of four: three humans and a Tellarite.

The Comms officer nodded and soon the face of the Subcommander reappeared. =/\= What is it now, Saracen? Or were my instructions not clear enough? =/\=

GM

Sinclair, CTO

“Two contacts entering the sector… no ids, I’d put money on the fact they are cloaked ships.” Graham looked over. “The odds are tilting.”

Graham

“Unable to get a lock on either signal.” Sinclair said to the bridge.

They could hide themselves, they could hide their warp fields, but sooner or later their ion trails would be too long to remain within the cloak. It wouldn’t give them a direct location, but it would tell them when the ships were in the area and at impulse and probably alot about their movements.

Sha took the roster information and sent it to the CO’s, XO’s and CTO’s screens.

Roster from ship shows three humans and a Tellerite. Not sure if same persons are still on the ship.

She then glanced up at the obviously irritated face of the Romulan on the viewscreen.

=^=Sub-commander, you’re instructions were perfectly clear, buuuut, we have a slight problem. That is Federation registered ship that has been missing for 11 years. As a Federation/Starfleet vessel, we are required to investigate their disappearance and return them to Federation space. If they are enemies of the Empire and have been arrested, charged, and sentenced, we are willing to work with you to bring a peaceful resolution to this situation. Let’s be adults and diplomats. Relations between the Empire and the Federation have been going in a peaceful direction lately. Let’s not jump to a hasty miscommunication which may lead to unwanted or unseeded violence . But to do this, we need all pertinent information.=^=

OOC: I want to hold off a day or so to see if Dave will be posting before we move ahead.

GM

Sinclair suddenly shouted out form the Tactical station. “Captain! Two more warbirds in bound! Weapons are hot and we are being targeted!” and he raised the shields without waiting for the order.

Sinclair, CTO

The two warbirds appeared clearly on the scanners when they dropped their cloaks. With their arrival, the first warbird suddenly broke off and began heading towards the Saracen. The comms activated and the Commander from their initial contact said =/\= You were warned, Saracen. You refused to leave. That is an act of war, and we will respond accordingly. =/\= and the comms went dark.

GM

“That’s a lot of firepower to show up suddenly.” Graham glance at the tactical station, then back to his science screen.

Graham

“Red Alert,” Colter shouted out, but remained calm. He followed with “Battlestations. Helm, evasive maneuvers. Comms, send out an alert for any nearby Starfleet vessels. We are under attack by three Romulan Warbirds. This is an unprovoked attack. Sinclair, the conn is yours. Do what you have to.”

Colter (XO/CIO)

“People want you to leave, because they don’t want you to see what they are doing. There is no justice, if it needs to be delivered in the dark.”

Graham.

The shields came up just as multiple disruptor blasts slammed into the Saracen. All three warbirds were firing simultaneously and the shields were taking the hits… for now.

GM

“Shields holding! Returning fire!” Sinclair announced as multiple phaser shots streaked form the Saracen and at a single target… the original romulan ship. As the phasers hit on their shields, the familiar sounds of torpedoes being launched resonated in the bridge. On the main view screen, four points of reddish-orange light streaked away from the Saracen and slammed into warbird.

Sinclair, CTO

‘So we’re doing this.’ Teller thought to himself. ‘Wars have started for less.’ He started a scan of the Warbirds, looking towards the ships on the flank first. They would be the easiest to isolate.

Sha kept an eye on the birds and the Saracen’s shields. Ready to bark out changes soon as they occurred. She felt helpless, but with Sinclair at the triggers, she knew they were in capable hands. This was his element and he was good at it. She glanced in his direction with a smile and then back to her own viewscreen. Meanwhile, on another screen, she was getting a team to standby in case they needed to immediately board the derelict ship and retrieve anyone. And she had a small team on standby in both transporter rooms to call upon if they got the opening to retrieve anyone.

“Helm bring us around on the flank of that Warbird,” Dante ordered calmly. “Keep them between us and the other two as much as you can. Mr Sinclair focus fire on that Warbird, target their shields specifically with Phasers on rapid cycling.” Pausing for a moment, Dante rubbed his jaw.

“Aye, Captain.” the CTO replied, his eyes glued to the console as the *Saracen’s weapon systems began to flex their muscles.

“Mr Graham, we know the capabilities of those old Warbirds. Can we disrupt their targeting algorithms?”

Dante Knight, CO

“Military systems are constantly updated. The last tactical report indicated, that weapons were reliant on sensor returns in the 2900 range. Multiple fake returns may confuse the weapons systems.” It wasn’t a high probability option, but it was more than nothing.

Grahams

It was the secondary look at the tactical readings that set off a red flag at the Science console. Yes, the Romulans were almost fanatical in their upgrades and updates of military hardware. These vessels were behind… roughly five years.

GM

Sinclair, CTO

“Somethings wrong,” Graham started. “The ship tactical systems are consist with the ‘WarWolf’ configuration.” He turned dramatically, “That’s consistent with a profile from five years ago.” He touch a few keys on this system.

The main screen opened a box where the tactical information known on that configuration was. “Most importantly, the shield refresh frequency is known. Once every 26 seconds the shields should cycle to 1.19 mhz.”
