Leaving the Bridge with Security and the Chief Engineer in tow, Dante made the quick trip to Transporter Room 1 on Deck 2.

“Lieutenant Hanson, take the station please,” he nodded to the Engineering Chief as he moved to stand in the customary spot in front of the pad. “Sha, have your Security detail wait outside the doors, and they are to keep their hands away from their weapons. We need no further provocation here.”

Captain Knight, CO

Connor nodded back to the Captain and moved to the station. In a reverse of what had just happened on the bridge, the Transporter operator signed the transporter console over to Hanson and the Lieutenant assumed the appropriate position. With a practiced eye and hand, he checked all the relevant components were aligned and confirmed that the maintenance schedule on the transporter was maintained. Satisfied all was ready, subject to the level 5 diagnostic he ran on the transporter, he nodded to the Knight.

It wouldn’t do to have the Admiral merged with one of his fellow Romulans, or have his atoms scattered across space, or any one of a number of other fates possible with transporters.

  • Connor Hanson, CE

The comms chirped and a voice said =/\= Bridge to Captain. The Romulans are ready to beam over. Four for transport. =/\=

GM

Dante waited a moment as if considering something, and casually adjusted his cuffs while looking at the Transporter pad. It was a short moment, then without looking at the Transport console he simply said, “Energize”.

Captain Knight

“Energizing,” Connor said, and then pushed the buttons and moved virtual lever to bring the Romulans aboard the Saracen. He held his breath through the process,

As the sequence was started by the Chief Engineer, a swirl of lights soon appeared on the pads and four figures in full Star Empire uniforms appeared on the transporter. Two in front looked over the assembled Saracen officers and one nodded once before stepping aside. An older Romulan stepped forward. He looked at the officers and he settled his eyes on Knight. “Captain Knight. A pleasure. I am Admiral D’Vak of the Romulan Star Empire.” and he stepped forward and extended a hand.

“Admiral, welcome to the Federation Starship Saracen,” Dante stepped forward to meet the Romulan, taking the hand in the customary Human greeting. “I am Captain Dante Knight.”

“A pleasure, Captain. Your reputation precedes you.” the Admiral replied.

Connor let out the breath once they appeared, his expression became neutral.

“These two are Kal’dishir… security forces. And this-” and he stepped to the side to reveal a Romulan woman in all black, “-is R’eadn. Our Tal Shiar liason.” The woman nodded at Knight, then to Hanson, and finally to Sha. “Greetings.” she said slightly less than flatly.

GM

Connor’s eyes went from the Admiral, to the security forces to the Tal Shiar as intros were made. He noted the greetings, but didn’t say a thing. He wishes he’d remained on the bridge and sent one of his Engineers to do the transport. He was an engineer, not a diplomat, Evan was the diplomat, he charmed his way into the lives and then the hearts of Connor’s family, after all.

  • CE

“Welcome,” Dante nodded to the Tal Shiar rep in turn, and his welcome was decidedly friendlier. “This is Lieutenant Ra’Triton my Security Chief, and Lieutenant Hansen my Chief Engineer. If you would accompany us to the Briefing room I have a few of my senior staff ready to join our meeting.”

Captain Knight

The Admiral nodded to each and said “An honor. Please… let us adjourn and discuss our… current situation, shall we?” and he allowed the Saracen crew to lead them oput of the room.

GM

Connor waited until the NE transporter officer returned and hurried to catch up to the brass and officers.

Sha nodded when introduced and was pleased, when they got to the corridor, that her orders had been obeyed. Those on ‘escort’ duty were at parade rest, hands behind their backs, instead of casual ‘at ease’ with their hands lingering near their weapons.

She remained behind the Captain and their guest but allowed the other two escorts to take up the rear.

Sha’s two security officers behind them

As they moved through the corridors, the Admiral nodded appreciatively. “A fine vessel you have here, Captain. I’m glad that the Federation had you in the vicinity.” R’eadn, for her part, seemed to focus on the floor, walking with her hands clasped behind her back as she followed in silence.

GM

“The Saracen is a good ship, thank you Admiral,” Dante acknowledged the compliment, his eyes greeting each crewmember as they passed. “Her crew does her credit, we have some of the best Starfleet has to offer.”

Connor, from his position alongside the two rear Security NEs, overheard the Admiral’s comment and felt pride at the complement. He would share it with his staff at their next daily huddle.

OOC Might as well use terminology from the study I am doing :)

After a few moments, they group arrived at the Conference room. Once everyone was seated, the Admiral looked at Dante and said “Captain, I would suggest you call your Command staff in. The threat we all face is one of paramount importance. I do not feel that I am being overly dramatic when I say that if we fail to come to a consensus and work together, the ramifications will be most dire.” R’eadn looked at the assembled Federation officers and added “And by dire, the Admiral means the destruction of the Romulan people and then the loss of all life in the galaxy.”

GM

Dante’s face remained passive, but he nodded. He was well aware of the Romulan tendency to exaggerate about dire consequences, everything since the loss of their planet seemed to be dire, but until he had further information he would have to hold the jury on that point. Touching his comm-badge, he called his Staff.

=/\= This is Captain Knight to the Bridge. Commander Colter and Commander Graham please join us in the briefing room. =/\= That would leave Sinclair, the Tactical Chief in charge of the Bridge and Dante was comfortable with that while their were other potential aggressive ships about.

=/\= Doctor Knight, please join the Command staff in the Briefing room immediately =/\=

With that taken care of, Dante leaned back and looked at both of the Romulans. “Refreshments? We have coffee and, other drinks.”

Dante Knight, CO

The Admiral nodded and said “I have encountered a few open minded Star Fleet officers in my time. One of them introduced me to coffee. I have to say, the Kona blend from Terra is a personal favorite, if your replicators have that in their library.” The rest of the Romulans declined the offer politely.

=^=On my way Captain.=^=

The lift and walk would only take about 50 seconds for him to arrive. “Reporting as ordered.”

Graham

Immediately on Graham’s heels was Colter. He nodded acknowledgement to those in the while introducing himself. “Admiral, I’m Cmdr. Colter, the ship’s executive officer.” DaVinci then took his seat next to Dante. In his introduction, he left out the part about being the ship’s chief of intel. No need to broadcast that information at this time.

GM

Sha has the guards remain the hall, sending one to the mess hall for drinks if any of the guest guards desired something. A smile to the other guards came with the comment and wink. “No point that only brass are treated well.” She nodded once more, assured her orders would be carried out, but Saracen security would still be on alert and courteous.

Stepping into the room, the security chief stepped to the side and remained still as the others came and got settled.

Connor sat in his assigned seat, and, remembering the instructions from the doctor on his boarding physical, ordered a water with additional electrolytes.
“Doctors orders,” he said to no one in particular. He opened his padd and waited for

“Let’s get down to business, shall we gentlemen, and ladies.”

He flashed the Tal Shiar officer a disarming and mischievous grin before turning back to face the admiral.

Colter (XO/CIO)

Once everyone was seated, Sha took her seat closest to the door, angled to view it a bit easier than the room. No need to stand like a guard. The Security Chief nodded to the XO with a smile as they arrived and she knows everyone present.

As the visitors filed in, Counselor Holway observed them with a professional eye. Personally, she found Romulans more interesting and much warmer in disposition than Vulcans, but she always kept that opinion to herself. The lack of emotions displayed by Vulcans made her work more difficult when it came to finding out what plagued them in her office. Taking a sip of tea from the steaming cup by her right hand, she settled herself for the discussion that was about to happen.

(We still here?)

OOC: I’m here

OOC: We are indeed, with the slow down in posting and dropping of Awol limits for the Christmas period things will get much slower, don’t worry about posting to stay in limits at this point, but if anyone would like to have another thread going for more regular posting, we are about to arrive at Risa for Christmas :) Just a holiday thread for people to keep active in.
