“Before you begin,” Dante said to Sheleah, holding up a hand for Natasha to wait a moment before using the hypo, “Lets be clear that at this point I would prefer you simply make sure this Laju is in a safe enough mindset not to hurt herself or anyone else, and capable of talking coherently. Once we find out what is going on and if you find her capable of talking to others, I intend to take her to the Chief of Security to resolve the remaining issues. I don’t believe this is the time for a full fledged session, I think that would be better served in your office once she can compose herself a little more as you say, yes? That being said, we can put up the privacy shield now so that we can see in but she cannot see us when she wakes. We still need to be sure that you will be safe should anything unexpected happen.”

Captain Knight, CO

Sheleah nodded and wondered if this was the time to explain that she was usually armed when outside her own quarters.

“Understood Captain. I know the protocols.”

“This should counteract the sedative almost immediately. I also put in dose of Sobe up,” Natasha used the slang term for the medicinal drug used to flush a patient’s system of all narcotics, pharmaceuticals, and alcohol. “Her tox screen came back only positive for an anti-depressant so aside from the WTF just happened to me syndrome of knocking someone out, she will be fine. There shouldn’t be any side effects from clearing you body of anti-depressants.” Depressing the hypo into Laju’s neck, a soft hissing sound filled the space as Natasha took a step back and waited like the rest for the woman to come around.

Ally had moved off to the corner to activate the isolation field if the visitor suddenly became aggressive or combative. With Rico, the counselor, the Captain, and the medical staff ready, it would not be another situation like before with unknown variables. Natasha might not be able to hit the broad side of a barn with a phaser but if hypoing someone into unconsciousness was a security maneuver, she would rank as an expert.

Natasha Knight CMO

Sheleah slipped into position and waited for the woman to wake up.

The world around Eghimea flash back into being once more. Her eyes went wide as her mouth opened taking in as much air as her lungs could hold. There was a ringing in her ears, but it seemed almost like a distant memory. Her nose told her that the air around her was clean, too clean. She didn’t hear anything, but she felt something on her back. The slight vibrations that were a telltale sign that she was aboard a ship or station.

She started to move her hands then paused as she looked down at her wrists. ‘Where are the chains,’ she wondered as her eyes shifted slowly.

‘I asked you why you stopped Lieutenant,’ the male voice to her left spoke.

Eghimea turned and glanced in the direction of the sound. Then as if seeing a ghost, she jerked back slightly as she closed her eyes shaking off the random memory that had flooded her senses. Slowly moving her hands to her face, she placed her palms up against her closed eyes. She rubbed them as if forcing the memory from her sight.

It was then in that moment that Eghimea realized she wasn’t alone. Her head turned to the right, and she saw an alien woman with blond hair standing between the medical bed she was laying on and the isolation field that had been erected around her bed.

Her eyes moved about the area searching for the other woman. Her head still hurt, but she knew there had been another woman here. ‘What was her name,’ Eghimea tried to remember. Then the introduction replayed in her mind perfectly.

‘Hello, I am Doctor Knight,’ the woman with green eyes had said. She had spoken with a light and kind tone.

Eghimea turned her head slightly to the woman next to her, as she wondered for a heartbeat if that memory had been real. She felt different, her mind no longer foggy. Like a tide coming in, memories washed up against her consciousness and threaten to drown her. There were so many memories, she fought to keep them at bay.

Her eyes turned back to the alien with blond hair, ‘what did they do to me,’ she wondered. Then it hit her like a gravity wake slamming the side of a ship. She could remember the journey aboard the shuttle. The two laughing women sitting across from her. The photos they shared and stories about their husbands. She remembered the landing bay with the large letters, ‘USS Saracen’.

She moved slightly up, then her mind suddenly remembered the isolation field around her. She swallowed hard as she resisted the fear that was slowly rising within her. A soft beeping sound from her wrist mounted device filled the air between them. Eghimea cursed the device as its beeping betrayed her increasing heart rate.

“Am I,” she said in a soft, almost trying to will her voice not to reveal her confusion or fear. Even she didn’t believe herself as she spoke, “aboard the Saracen?”

2nd Lt Laju Eghimea

Sheleah had watched her movements patiently and quietly until the woman spoke.

“Yes, you are in the Saracen’s sickbay. My name is Counselor Ruby but feel free to call me Sheleah. I’d just like to talk with you for a bit. It seems you’ve had the whole medical staff concerned. Can we start with your name and how you’re feeling?”

Sheleah spoke in a light friendly voice that some had called calm and engaging.

  • Sheleah, CNS/DO

Eghimea nodded as she moved both of her hands behind her so to support herself in a rear leaning position, “Second Lieutenant, Laju Eghimea,” she said then swallowed. There was a momentary pause before she continued, “my head is spinning,” she explained. “Flashes of memory,” she struggled to say. Her eyes kept moving back to the isolation shield then to this alien woman before her. ‘What’s going on,’ she wondered.

In her mind, she could see a Bajoran male standing before her. He was talking to an elderly couple. They were standing in a crowded corridor. Her vison seemed to drift from one focus point to another as the memory unfolded. He turned from the couple and looked towards her, ‘I can’t go any further.’ He took her head in his hand to bring her focus on his face, ‘You must get to the Saracen.’

Still on the medical bed, Eghimea rubbed her eyes as the memory played out. ‘I will always love you, Eghimea,’ the man said then let her head go. He then turned and vanished into the crowd. The elderly woman took her arm gently, ‘come child, we’ll help you.’

There was flash in her mind, and Eghimea saw herself walking into this sick bay. She could see herself being greeted by a short woman. Her mind flashed to the echoed sounds of a baby or child. The memory was just as broken as the last. She saw the introduction perfectly, but other parts were blurry to her.

Eghimea moved to sit up, then paused. Her eyes moved back to the isolation shield, ‘why am I isolated,’ she questioned. She was concluded that she was isolated for a reason. Shaking her head, she decided to not cause anyone beyond the field to rush in here. Nor did she desire to cause this woman concern. Unsure of what was going on, she leaned back down.

Trying desperately gain some understanding of what was going on, she said, “I remember,” then paused for a moment, “I remember a woman with light green eyes,” Eghimea explained then turned and locked eyes with this alien woman with greenish brown eyes, “Doctor Knight,” she added with confidence.

As she fully laid back down, it was then her body felt the absence of the blade normally concealed at the small of her back. Her heart sank as horror washed over her face. Her mind could only come to one conclusion that would explain everything going on. Loud authoritarian voice echoed in her memory, ‘Laju Eghimea you have been found guilty of the worse kind of murder…’

Her voice trembled as she spoke, “Did I….” Her broken voice dropped to a near whisper, “did I hurt someone…”

2nd Lt Laju Eghimea

Eghimea is an average build (if not on the smaller side) Bajoran female. Her short cut brown hair is always kept neat and professional despite the burns on the side of her head. Unseen under her cloths, her burns run the length of her right side of her body. She had deep brown eyes that appear a hint wider than normal. Pervious scans would have revealed the following tattoos. There is a tattoo of her family emblem and one of the Bajoran Crest. These two tattoos straddle her chest just over her heart. On her back opposite of her heart is, is the holy symbol of the Celestial Temple. As mentioned above, Eghimea has burns that start at her mid-right leg and go up to her neck. There are burn marks on the side of her head, which she covers (partly) with her hair. These burns are deep and can distracted from her natural beauty. These scars are nothing compared to the sense of hollowness in her eyes.

Her Bajoran Star Guard Uniform is made up of black combat boots with grave plates built within. Her white paints with black stripes were light and flexible, though like the boots designed for work in space. Her white blouse with black stripes down the sides was a button up from the left side. Made of the same material as her paints. A black leather belt that was equally shined held her empty blaster holster on one side. On her left chest, she wore her Bajoran comlink and on her right, she wears her Bajoran Star Guard Insignia.

2nd LT Laju Eghimea

When Sheleah had received the emergency comm from Tasha she had been in her quarters on a subspace call with Dr. Sam Drummond. He was a preeminent feline biologist who rant the facility in Brazil where she had acquired Rex. Professionally they were having a discussion of his growth, eating habits, etcetera. Personally, they were two exes catching up.

Since the CMO’s call had been urgent, donning a uniform seemed a waste of valuable time so, she had slipped out of her quarters in a pair of black slacks and a lavender button up shirt with several buttons left undone. Her blond hair was a bit tousled because she had just went several rounds playing with Rex and the only shoes she could find were flats.

“No Second Lieutenant Laju, you didn’t hurt anybody but you were acting erratically and, I think it’s fair to say, you scared some people.

Hearing the answer, Eghimea rolled her head to gaze up at the ceiling. She let out a short sigh as she closed her eyes. She could feel the guilt washing from her face. Still, her memory was blurred with flashes of clarity here and there. She finally nodded opening her eyes once more, “I didn’t mean to scare anyone.” She leaned up on her left elbow and twisted slightly to see the woman standing next to her. “I am sorry,” she said softly and truthfully.

Can you explain what brought you here in the first place?”

Sheleah knew she wasn’t meant to conduct a full psyche evaluation right at this moment but, a few questions would determine how lucid this woman was.

  • Sheleah, CNS/DO

It was the second question that caused her reason to concern. She had acted erratically and went so far as scaring people. While she was grateful that no one was hurt, that didn’t mean she hadn’t done something horrible. She was supposed to be here, or at least the Swiss cheese of her memory claimed that she was. There were flashes in her mind. She could hear and see people talking but she couldn’t make out the voices or the words.

What she could start to see more clearly, was how she came aboard. She suddenly felt fear well up once more. Deciding not to sound completely insane, she chose the easiest of the answers. Giving a short nod she spoke once more, “transfer as part of the Officer Fellowship Program.” It was a half-truth and Eghimea had hoped that it would be enough for this trained Counselor. At least for her to piece together her own memory. “Under orders from Colonel Zado Fanuca,” she added. She knew these parts were at least true.

She needed to show these people that despite what happened, she didn’t mean anyone here harm. Something, anything, her mind raced for an answer, a jester. Shifting slightly, she started to hold out her right hand. Her eyes moving cautiously from the woman to whom ever was hiding beyond the security field. Doubt forced her fear to hold ground in her mind. It was true, she really didn’t mean anyone harm. Yet was that true for them? It was an answer still waiting to be shown.

She offered a silent prayer to the Prophets before saying, “Eghimea,” she said trying to hold some measure of confidence. Well at least as much confidence as one could hold given the situation and worse, the blurred memories that strangled her resolve. “You can call me, Eghimea,” she said offering her hand and forcing her eyes from the security field back to Sheleah.

2nd LT Laju Eghimea

Sheleah reached out and took Eghimea’s hand and shook and held it for several seconds.

“Okay then. What brought you to sickbay specifically?” she asked.

  • Sheleah, CNS/DO

Sheleah reached out and took Eghimea’s hand and shook and held it for several seconds.

Eghimea tried to smile, but she was still nervous.

“Okay then. What brought you to sickbay specifically?” she asked.

  • Sheleah, CNS/DO

She drew in a deep breath as she made no effort to pull her hand back. Her mind was starting to calm down, which allowed her to think more clearly. She could remember the deck officer and the laughter of a pair of deck hands unloading boxes. She could see through the haze as she followed the pair of wives across the shuttle bay. There was a security check ahead of her. She saw a group of new crew members making their way through the line.

She saw a strange alien creature that resembled some kind of large feline. The creature was talking to the deck officer. Eghimea could hear him tell her that she needed to report for a medical check in.

Eghimea slowly let out her breath, “I needed a check in.” She paused a moment, “I am sorry. There are so many blurry parts of my memory, and I am still trying to figure a lot of them out. “I remember hearing someone saying something about my medical check in,” She shivered a bit, “I didn’t expect this place to bring back so many bad memories.” Taking in a short breath, and letting out her fear.
