While he went out of the med bay, he decided to go and walk around and figure his surroundings out a little more. He decided to walk around the ship finding himself around the corner of his department heads door. Although, very little did he know he was afraid that his new department head wouldn’t like him cause of his reputation. Although, he is judgement towards himself isn’t always good. Something he thinks that people may dislike him for who he is or sometimes people would call him out or call him names. So while he got to his department heads office doors, he rang the chime to request his presense to come in and talk to his department head about himself a little bit. He still is super unfamiliar with being under someone again cause he’s used to working by himself. Although, he must get used to it.

Ensign Logan

The doors opened automatically without the chime. Stepping through Logan would find a small lobby with a desk and several chairs around the room. This was the main security suite. Several thecdoors led off from this space. The security officer NE behind the desk looked up, “Can I help you, Ensign?”

Atoded, CoS

“Ah yes. I am here to see the chief if she is in.” He said as he looked F the security offier NE behind the desk.

Ensign logan

“Oh! You must be the new recruit. Welcome aboard!” The NE smiled warmly. “Chief will be back in about 10 if you want to have a seat and wait.”

Atoded, CoS

“That I am. You said that the chief will be back about 10 that’s fine by me.” As he sat down waiting.

Ensign Logan

“She’s very punctual, the chief. You won’t have to wait long.” The NE seemed friendly, but had a lot of work waiting for him at the desk and he turned back to it.

Exactly 10 minutes later the short, dirty blonde, raven eyed security chief walked through the door. Followed by three MASSIVE Huskies. “Hey chief, our new recruit’s waiting to see you.” Atoded turned her gaze on the young ensign sitting in the chair. “Welcome aboard Ensign, come on in to my office and we’ll have a chat.”

She entered the third door to the left of the desk and entered. Monitors lined all the walls allowing her to see into every critical part of the ship. The three canines followed behind her and with a subtle hand motion she sent all three to a large cushion in the corner to sit. “Have a seat. Tell me about ourself,” she told Logan as she sat in the chair behind her desk.

Atoded, CoS

“Thank you sir. Uh well I am a very well trained officer. If you have noticed in my record, I retook the security class back at the academy and managed to be top of my class. I uh know my security clearance and everything. But I I more then willing to do anything. I’ve more then qualified to help out anywhere. Heck if need be I can even do security checks throughout the ship if ordered too sir.” As he sat there explaining to her about himself and thinking maybe he spoke to much. ” Although that is up to you sir. I’m not gonna push that.” He added.

Ensign Logan

Brenna listened, hands folded in her lap while he talked. “Why did you retake the security class? Did you not pass or simply have a desire for perfection?”

Atoded, CoS

“I simply had a desire for my perfection honestly.” He said looking at her as he responded. He didn’t know what else to say cause he wanted to have the most perfection for his security class.

Ensign Logan

Brenna understood the desire to be the best, but allowing a cadet to retake the class just to get a perfect score allowed unrealistic expectations on oneself. “That is an awfully emotional reaction for a Vulcan. I take it you don’t follow the teachings of Surak and Kolinahr?” It didn’t matter to Atoded if he did or not, but it was always good to know the life philosophy of her security officers.

Atoded, CoS

“You are correct sir. I don’t at all.” Smiling at her and thinking what he should’ve done that a long time ago but he refused.

Ensign Logan

Atoded nodded, “Nothing wrong with finding your own way. I’m unique to my own culture. Not many Betazoids going into the martial disciplines. Tell me Logan, what is your specialty? Other than firing phasers? We all can do that.” Atoded grinned a little.

Atoded, CoS

“Well sir. I do well with other stuff like Tactical ideas for security. I even have some security training simulations. I have created 2 of them when I was in the academy.” He said to her.

Ensign Logan

“Ship tactics or ground personnel?” There wasn’t time in a standard 4 year course to specialize in both. If it was ship’s tactics she could let Logan cross train with Richard. His tactical department could always use back ups. His small department had helped them out a few times as well. Fortunately, Mash and she had the same philosophy about interdepartmental cross training.

Atoded, CoS

“It’s ship tactics. I’ve always had that style of tactics.” He said with a smile as he looked around the room.

Ensign Logan.

“I will speak with Lt Cmdr Marsh, our chief tactical officer, and see about having you join their training sessions and an occasional shift at the tactical station.” The office walls were covered in monitors. The ones above the door behind him were tactical and security read outs of the ship. The port side wall were images of the bridge, armory, and the brig cells which were currently empty. The starboard side wall rotated through images of high traffic areas, engineering, jefferies tubes, and points of access to the ship like transporter rooms and shuttle bay.

“What martial arts form did you study for your hand-to-hand combat qualifications?”

Atoded, CoS

“Yes how’d you know I am capable with hand to hand combat?” He asked her.

Ensign Logan

Atoded’s brow lifted in a very Vulcan like manner. A quirk she picked up from her mentors, one half Vulcan/half human and a half Vulcan/half Klingon, long ago. “We’re security officers in Star Fleet, Ensign. Hand-to-hand combat training is required. Basic self defense is taught to all cadets, but combat training is required for Security and Tactical and Intel officers. So what form did you choose?”

Atoded, CoS

“Well sir. I’ve used all forms with and without weapons. Hand-to-hand, honestly I chose something that us humans would use is called boxing type hand-to-hand.” He said.

Ensign Logan

Brenna nodded slowly, “And what types of close combat weapons do you prefer, Ensign?”

Atoded, CoS

“Daggers for close combat or my own hands.” he replied.

Ensign Logan

“What do you do in your off time, Ensign, for fun?” Atoded found his answers interesting.

Atoded, CoS

“I read.” He hands her his favorite book. The title on the book is Moby Dick.

Ensign Logan

Brenna always felt sad for Captain Ahab. So lost in his madness that there was no comfort or solace for him to ever find. He was wise but alone. Brenna took the book and flipped it open her eyes scanning the page. “Ignorance is the parent of fear.” She closed the book carefully and passed it back.

Atoded, CoS

“Sir? Is everything okay?” He asked her.

Ensign Logan

Atoded placed her folded hands on the desk top. “Yes, Ensign. Ignorance is the parent of fear. It’s a quote from your book. How do you think it might apply to our work as security officers?”

Atoded, CoS

“Well sir, the line Ignorance is the parent of fear is similar to our work as security officers is the fact that we might be working under pressure and with that it’ll come down to stress and disbelief. Sometimes discomfort. If someone was to board the ship, it’ll bring up the ignorance is the parent of fear will come into play. Sir.” he said.

Ensign Logan
