Seamus set the holodeck up to appear as the bridge of the Saracen and set the program status to open. He wanted to make sure the crew was braced and ready for ship to ship combat, and how better than a test run? He had carefully set up the situation. The program would begin in 10 minutes, giving crew time to arrive. This was one of the few times Seamus was excited. He got to be back in the saddle.

To his left, he’d spot a shimmer out of the corner of his eye, but if he looked, he’d find the raven-haired figure of Cori. A white grecian stye down flowed from one shoulder to the floor and by the bare toes peeking out, had no shoes. “Cool, can I play too?” she asked coyly.

From behind his tactical station, he couldn’t help but laugh a little. “Sure. We’re gonna play hide and seek, but I set up the program so the ship’s getting shot at the whole time. It adds an element of excitement to the whole thing.” He got somewhat serious again. “You’re connected to the computer, you know what this thing is for. I don’t know what role exactly you would have in a ship to ship scenario, but you can stick around if you like.”

She offered him a grin. “How about I just watch for now and be your mascot? After all, I do make a pretty figurehead.” Most people didn’t know or remember that she had been a scientist, but he was right, she knew too much. Still this could be fun.

“Why not? Stick around. Sorry you can’t join in, but you already know the scenario I’ve set up. It’ll be good fun for you though, whatching us scramble around and you know exactly what’s happening.” Seamus smiled and chuckled a bit. “Well. I say us. So far I’m the only member of the simulation here. I was kind of hoping for anybody to man a station. If it goes on like this, I might as well let you play Captain.”

With a slight grin, Corinne all but sashayed over to the command chair and sat down with a flourish that sent the skirt of her gown fluttering. Crossing her legs, she leaned back and looked at him. “Oh, I’ll get up if you need me to, but Iv’e always wanted to see what it felt like. Not the same, of course, but I think people would get a bit twitchy about their AI trying it on the real bridge.”

~Corinne Dalton/SARAH

“Right so.” He laughed. “Or maybe I should put a ‘sir’ on the end of that. Or ‘ma’am’. You are in the command chair.” As he relaxed, a little more of his Irish accent slipped through. “Let me ask you something though, if I have your permission Captain, you seem real aware that you’re an AI, not a physical being. I know you’re making jokes and all, but is it bugging you, seeing as you know the difference? Or not everyone new to the ship is filled in on the story? I know it’s a bit personal, but I kinda lost that sense after I got all messed up.” He indicated his scars. “Once you’re different, everyone wants you to be an open book.”
